The British and Irish Thread

This couldn't be a British thread without some talk of the weather- so, hope everyone is enjoying the sun! Im in work at the mo, but I so wish I was at the beach right now. Or lazing in the park............ Unfortunately, there arent that many nice parks near me.

i would be if it wasn't so bloody muggy. i really like the heat - in summer anything less than 35' just isn't worth the effort - but i really hate humidity which is all we seem to get. that feeling of clothes sticking to you is just horrible.

bring on greece :D

I like this weather :) Especially seeing as im not going away this year (but saving for a San Fransisco trip next year :D) BUt im coaching kids all week and having to take part with them for the majority so im getting way too hot.... At least I tan easily

I agree, it is too humid. And I hate it when its hot and you have to go to work.

Unfortunately I just burn easily, and then it doesn't even turn brown.

i usually burn a little but but tan afterwards - i've had sunstroke too often to want to burn again!

humidity doesn't agree with me at all, i like desert style heat! i think the med is my spiritual home - nice dry heat but some breeze from the sea, perfect. i want to move to france in a few years so hopefully i can get somewhere mediterranean. i suppose it might mean defecting from this thread tho!

i'm off to see take that tomorrow (so excited!!) and it's outdoor so i really hope it doesn't piss down.

Enjoy Take That! I know afew people who have been, and they said it was wonderful.

I manage to burn at least once a year- I might learn one of these years!

I got such a tan today  I lil' red on my shoulder though when i forgot about a sun cream top up but apart from that it was good.... Ive got the most prominent sock line though! The breeze we had here today just made it that little less humid and a nicer day all round :) Apparently we are meant to be getting thunderstorms tomorrow but the weatherman isnt always right, I do love thunderstorms though :)

^^ ah sock tan lines are really annoying - i hope you get a chance to even it out!

it will be amazing, i've seen them 7 times already and this looks like the most spectacular thing they've ever done. i absolutely can't wait - i think it's a bit weird for someone who is really purist about indie and punk, but i am massive take that fan. mark owen lives quite near me, i think =

^^ you're kidding?! omg i would be *livid* if that happened!! i didn't relax til mine landed on my doormat, i was really anxious about them.

^ i was wondering the same. there must be some legal recourse for you under trades descriptions or something?

i feel really bad saying this (sorry :() but they really were incredible. they get bigger and better every time.

i really hope you get some money back and if it's any consolation, they've confirmed they'll be recording a new album in autumn so i'm sure this time next year they'll be doing it again :D at that point i'll start taking bets on whether they can ever catch up with the manics (although i doubt it )

Yh we got the money back and it wasnt my idea to go in the first place i was going with parents and even though i like them i wasnt that upset but still was a little peeved:shifty: but if i cant go to my green day concert then i will scream believe me!!

Hey, question for the Irish :)
Me and my friend would go to Dublin, just for a weekend or so. But we actually have no idea what to go see there
So, any chance we could get some inside info on what to visit, or somewhere special we can hang out or have dinner or so. Any info would be greatly appreciated ;)

I'd be happy to show you around!! :D City Center is good for a day out, Temple Bar markets, Trinity College, Grafton Street and Stephen's Green are all within walking distance. Then there's O'Connell Street too which is just across the river.

If you want to get out of the city then Bray or Howth are excellent places to visit, both accessible by Dart.

But seriously...I'm a good tour guide!! :D

What's your budget for dinner? Because I can recommend tonnes of places in any price range ;)
