"Still Life" discussion Thread **Beware Spoilers**

Wow, nearly 31 million viewers...I cannot believe this beat out "Bullet" because the two-parter got a lot more hype. Bravo, CSI!

My unscientific theory is that CBS gave Nick the mustache to tease audiences and make them tune in every week to see whether it's gone. ;)

Yeah, yeah, the whole universe revolves around Nick Stokes. :p

First, I am SO HAPPY that the Pornstache is gone!!! And I agree, the world does revolve around Nick Stokes.

On another note, did anyone else think that Grissom's confession sounded kinda forced? It just kinda popped out of nowhere. One second they're talking about the missing-or-not-missing kid, and the next, Gil is confessing a very painful and traumatic secret. I like that his Giant Protective Wall is finally crumbling, but it seems like they just stuck that confession to Catherine in there last minute.

Whether or not you're just kidding, that does appear to be the case. :)

Speaking of Nick, was it just me or did seem like Nick did not leave the lab after he caught that brief glance of her at the playground.

I like to think that was the case. It would have made for a nice little irony if Nick had stayed at the lab - most likely a place where he feels safe - only to have the cause of his nightmare and fears come to that very lab. And because the rest of the team is out working, he has to face her all alone.

I was just stuck by the abstance of Nick in a few scenes. Given we saw the rest of the team, I was wondering what was up...and then I thought about it. I think that after Nick saw Kelly at the playground he would have been a bit jumpy... maybe more so then he had been. Grissom - who is not always as blind as people acuse of being sees this and even if he may not know the cause, assigns Nick to tasks that will keep him the lab.

I also wonder what is going to happen the next time Nick has to look for a buried body? It is going to be interesting to see how they handle that.

Whoooo hooooo for Still Life!

CBS took the ratings lead right from the start of the night Thursday and never lost it on its way to another easy victory.

The Eye averaged a 14.7 rating/22 share in primetime. NBC was a distant second at 7.7/12. ABC, 3.9/6, finished third, followed by FOX, 3.0/5, and The WB, 2.9/4. UPN, airing a lineup of reruns, trailed with a 1.8/3.

The standings among adults 18-49 were a little closer, but CBS' 8.2 rating still led by a healthy margin. NBC finished second at 5.0, and there was a fairly sharp drop to third-place FOX, 2.2. ABC and The WB tied for fourth at 1.9, with UPN last at 1.1.

At 9 p.m., CBS' "CSI" delivered one of its bigger audiences this season with an 18.8/27 -- in fact, it beat the combined total for all five other networks in the hour. "The Apprentice" was second for NBC at 7.2/11, and ABC's movie held onto third with a 3.4/5. "Everwood," 2.7/4, moved The WB up to fourth, ahead of FOX's "Reunion." UPN went with "Eve" and "Cuts" reruns.

Kickass!

Oh - and whoever said the pornstache might have been a sweeps ratings ploy...I wouldn't bet against it...

I have to comment on the Kelly Gordon/Nick Scene at the end, I expected more of a reaction out of him at the site of seeing Kelly Gordon, I hate to ask this here, but I can't search for the other episodes, but did the whole story line with Nick attending her parole hearing actually happen? I mean after GD and the emotion Nick showed at the end of GD meeting Kelly Gordon, I expected to see more emotion from Nick.

I also thought the Grissom thing was out of place, but it's nice that we will be getting into Grissom's past now. It is quite a shock that they put the one biography with Grissom on CBS.com and now all of a sudden his father died when he was nine. That's funny. So I hope we can get more into all of the characters this season, and from the sounds of it, it will happen.

There was no parole episode. I think all the alterations stemming from Gum Drops made them adjust stuff later on too. At leat, that's my theory. :)

Well, the parole hearing was supposed to be in "Shooting Stars," which was filmed before "Gum Drops" and before they had to alter anything. I think they just decided to change how they were going to handle that storyline and maybe just wanted to spread it out a bit more. Who knows what goes on inside the writer's heads.

My impression about Nick's reaction to Kelly's visit to the lab was that he was trying not to be emotional. I felt that because it was at the lab he was didn't really react to it because he didn't want to people at the lab to see him being emotional. In addition, I think he wants people to believe that he is fine and over it and having a huge reaction about Kelly Gordon in the lab would shoot that appearance to hell. Just my two cents.

I have to say that when she showed up at the crime scene, I freaked the hell out. I started yelling at my TV and then thought maybe I was imagining things.

It was just the way Kelly and Nick talked about her parole hearing that stemmed that question, man I am not going to miss anymore episodes this season, I missed two episodes, and now I am completely lost on some factors of the show.

Correct me of Im wrong but I don't remember them talking about her parole hearing, I know she mentioned she got parole a few days - weeks? - ago and then they talked about Nick's visit with her at the end of GD.

*side note* Was anyone else bothered by her hair.....just me then :p

The way Kelly answered Nick didn't sound right to me. As a matter of fact, it sounded completely false. I f she were really going to leave it all behind her, she would acted more relaxed than she did. I still believe that she's harboring hatred for Nick!
