what does TPTB stand for, cause I've seen it be used a lot.
TPTB = The Powers That Be
That could refer to any higher-ups, bosses, decision makers, producers, network executives, etc.

thanks for the explanation!! i didn´t know either!

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Will WP's picture in a promo bring people in, or annoy those who felt "tricked" last time?

Well I thought it was a trick too, I was very suprised to see him

CSI goes down again with a rating of 13.4 and a 20 share compared to Grey's 15.0 rating with a 22 share. I'm guarenteeing a CSI victory this week however, so I'm keeping my head up. Both of these numbers however are up from last week.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Even though CSI lost, their numbers are up very slightly from last week.

It should also probably be noted that Grey's ended last week with two - count 'em two - marriage proposals.

Early numbers:

Grey's: 23.9
CSI: 21.3

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I have to be honest...these numbers really mean nothing to me. Basically, all I care about is, did CSI beat Grey's this week or not?

Haha. I'm so inept when it comes to ratings.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

In the end I don't think either show is in danger of getting cancelled due to 'falling ratings' so I guess it's all about a matter of pride.

GA deserves to be doing so well after all CSI has been around for 7 years now whilst GA is still in its prime. I don't feel that the writers should be looking to change their approach to CSI just to get higher ratings.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I have been watching CSI from the first episode. I've also watched Grey's before it moved to Thursdays. Both are great shows that draw huge audiences. So Grey's is doing a little better in the ratings, it doesn't mean that Grey's is better quality than CSI or CSI is less quality than Grey's. People are going to watch what they want to regardless of what the ratings are.

totally agree with you...

just adding that ABC should think in the people that like to watch both shows (not my case hehe)
it´s not nice having to watch a re-run or tape it to watch it later...
and also that they would have a higher rating, if that´s all that matter...

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Just something you might find of interest - at one point last year in Australia, they had CSI and Grey's on at the same time. CSI is on Network Nine, and Grey's is on Network Seven. Seven ended up moving Grey's to a non-CSI night in order to have any sort of decent ratings at all, because CSI S6 was the highest ranked show each and every week, and I mean that by week. It clocked up the most viewers out of every show on free-to-air tv over here.

And personally, I think CSI might do a little better on the ratings in America if Entertainment Tonight gave them some screentime/stories. What I've seen, every night ET has a story on Grey's Anatomy, and hasn't had anything on CSI since 2006. Every little bit of advertising helps, and the more you hear about a show the more you are inclined to watch it. The fact CSI isn't get the wrap Grey's is and still giving Grey's a run for it's money just goes to show how great CSI is.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Interesting fact for an interesting week that saw House have enormous numbers; CBS' Criminal Minds did a 14.7 rating with a 25 share last night (WOW). Guess that goes to show what having a Super Bowl lead-in does for you.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Oops Grey's does it again.

I think the Producers of Grey's need to either a. send their actors to media training b. send them to sensitivity classes or c. duct tape all their mouths shut.

Another Grey's Gaffe

Honestly, as someone who works in the mental health field, I found that comment offensive.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I sent a letter c/o their link. I think it's really getting out of hand. While I'm not necessarily disgusted with Walsh's comments, it's just such bad timing.
