Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Grey's just won a SAG Award.

But you know, again I'll say it. Any bad PR CSI had to deal with, they dealt with it right away. The firings back in 2004 were dealt with in a matter of days. Nobody had to go into rehab and they were able to get the premiere out and about in a timely fashion.

Touch wood. None of the actors have had DUIs thrown at them (Lost); none of them have ever uttered racial or bigoted slurs (Grey's); none of them had people behaving inappropriately (Desperate Housewives).

Touch wood. Those guys can have their awards and bad pr, but CSI and its cast are a class act.

Touch wood again!!!

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Grey's keeps winning because they had an amazing year last year. CSI didn't.

This year it's the reverse, so I'd be very, very surprised to see Grey's stand up this time next year.

Add to that - in reality, they're winning awards for their first full season. How many awards was CSI up for in their first and second seasons?

Anyway - about Isaiah, what happened was that he allegedy grabbed Patrick Dempsey by the throat, and when T.R. Knight tried to defend him, Isaiah called him a faggot.

This claim was supported by indirect comments from the cast, etc.

On Golden Globe night, after they won, Isaiah grabbed the microphone and said that it never happened, using the word faggot, again.

He was asked to apologize, and has since done so. But there is a petition online for his dismissal.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Wow the cast sounds like a group of idiots, I'll proudly take second place in their 7th season if our guys got class.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

^^ what happend on the set of Grey's (and then at the Golden Globes) is unfortunate, but I don't think the entire cast should be judged on one person's comment/action. The rest of the cast has handled things professionally. Please keep that in mind.

I agree - I think that Katherine Heigl in particular has really impressed me by flat-out admitting what has happened and supporting T.R. completely.

They're still floundering as a show, though, this season. lol.

You know what it is? It's the difference between when your show generates hype by itself, like CSI did because it was so new and original, vs. when you can tell that ABC is creating the hype, and the writers are trying to make every episode shock and awe.

The same thing happened to Desperate Housewives in their second season. They had a lot more natural buzz than Grey's, of course, but the writers just went too far.

And that's what's happening to the "Docs".

Again, for the new hot show, that keeps winning awards, and the older show that wasn't nominated at all this year, to be neck and neck in the ratings? Pretty impressive.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Hey, let ABC generate all the hype it wants. I want the writers to help the show flame out. :D I don't know that CSI would be #1 again if it did or if it was, that it would stay there. Season 6 put a lot of people to sleep, and they haven't seen how awesome Season 7 has been. The good thing is that CSI reruns do so well. If enough people watch those, they might notice the change for the better and come back.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Ya I think that once Grissom comes back the rest of the season is going to get really good

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

From TV Guide online Entertainment News blog:

As College Kids Join Nielsens, Who Will Benefit?
Beginning Monday night, college students — a group that accounts for an estimated half of all viewing not measured by Nielsen Media Research — are now a part of the national sample, raising questions about exactly which shows will benefit. According to Variety, Nielsen's November pilot program showed that college gals gave Grey's Anatomy a boost and men most bolstered Drawn Together, Family Guy and The Simpsons, while students cradling bongs seemed content to watch a black-velvet Led Zeppelin poster.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Ya I saw a story about this last semester in our college newspaper, I'm not really suprised by this. I do think a lot of college kids like myself watch CSI but Grey's is a little more popular

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

0.78%? Wow. That's like... nothing.
It's interesting that Grey's wins more, but when CSI wins, it wins by more.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Wait did they clinch the season already or is that overall victory just to date??
