Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy
I don't really pay attention to Grey's. Only if my roommate is discussing it with her friends and expressing how stupid it was, yet they still watch it. It boggles my mind!
If I'm halfway through a book, even if it's awful, but the beginning was good and now I'm hooked, I keep reading.
I think the same is true of the very pissed off Grey's fans. Unfortunately for them, I think that their new spinoff is more likely to split the audience than double it. While GA may have had a few cliffhangers of its own, it's still a little like reading a teen soapy book (I am, for reasons unknown to even myself, addicted to the Georgia Nicholson books). Every one will end on a cliffhanger, but in a lot of ways you're starting "fresh" each year. You can choose whether or not you still find it fun when it picks up in fall.
I have no idea what CSI's cliffhanger will do for the show. I quite enjoyed the episode, so long as I viewed it as a half of an episode, but until I see the second part, I don't really know how I feel about it as a whole.
Will people tune in to see what happens next, or is there just a section of the population who, for whatever reason, has just stopped watching CSI? (Live, at least).
While these last few numbers, especially the ones for the Lady Heather episode, were interesting, I think it's the first few episodes of Seasons 8 for CSI and 4 for Grey's respectively that will be of greater interest.
I personally do not believe that GA will continue to beat CSI next year. They very well may, but my gut is that a lot of people will give up on Grey's over the summer and potentially try out Addison's new show instead.
Final numbers for the season are out, and CSI spends yet another year as television's number one scripted show:
Zap2it Season Ratings
On a personal note, I'm really hoping for awards for this year. One controversial storyline aside, I think that it blew Season 6 out of the water and we had more consistently interesting stories than in any other season.
Again, personal opinion.
