Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Wouldn't it be amazing if CSI got like... 30 million viewers?

American Idol seems to keep sloping on the ratings, as is every other show. Although I am not surprised that AI is dropping. I can't stand the show.. Ever since last year.. Well, ever since the first season it just seems redundant.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I feel reckless....

I'm voting 23! :p

As well, I'm hoping that, now that Gina was sent home and Sanjaya is still around (God, AI is like a virus; I don't even watch this crap and I still know what's going on), people will be getting more ticked off and switching the dial. Meaning that CSI might eventually have a shot at beating even the Fox juggernaut sometime this season.

Wow, I'm optimistic today....

I don't think it's that crazy an idea. AI has lost nearly a third of its viewers since the start of the season.

CSI has stayed pretty stagnant.

I don't know that Gina will have a big effect, but I do wonder if the Sanjaya thing won't do a 180. In other words, I wonder if perhaps people will start tuning in to see how long he can last - like Ken Jennings on Jeopardy, only... not because Sanjaya is good at anything. lol.

Originally, AI was about supporting the talented underdog. If they trade in some of those fans for people who like a good drinking game... *shrug* It's all the same to advertisers.

As for CSI... I really don't know. Putting aside my particular shipping preferences, this has been a great season. But if people just aren't watching, or if this is a problem with Nielsen's system, or whateverthehell, then too bad. Overall, it's been a good season (to me). And I cannot WAIT for the next Sarah Goldfinger this week. Her episodes never do well in the ratings comparatively, mostly because I think she's always liked to focus on the second-string (be it Sara, Greg or Nick, or in this case the techies), but I've often seen hers' as some of the most highly praised or award-nominated.

Ultimately, CSI can still boast at being the number one drama, and if Dancing With the Stars' numbers continue to fall as well, it'll be able to grab the third overall place (behind the two AIs) as well.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Dear lord who went for 29 million? Anyways I went 22 for the third week in a row.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Do you mean 28 million, mrb105?

Apparently, a very, very optimistic viewer. Where-ever you are, come out of lurking :p

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Ya that is what I meant. And is my banner cut in half on only my computer or do u guys see it too??

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I don't see a cut looks fine to me. I voted as to what I voted hmm :D

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

CSI remains the #1 scripted show on TV for another week both in weekly ratings and overall season ratings.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Man they really dropped from the week before, I haven't seen the promo for this week yet since I am trying out my spoiler free technique, so I can't really comment on whether or not it will bump up ratings.

As others have said, it was the day before the long easter weekend. *shrug* Add to that a lackluster episode and teaser that they didn't show that often, and I'm not all that surprised. I'm hopeful for this week, though.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Well I thought they did a better job of promoting Big Shots rather then Empty Eyes, but like you said Easter Break and Good Friday may have had an effect on it. And IMO Greg really isn't a MAIN character, so the idea of Greg-centric episode might not have gone over well.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Not to mention the fact that CSI *coughs* wasn't up against Grey's for the past two weeks because they had reruns...the numbers should have been a lot better IMO! But...oh wells...I still love the show!

Take a look at what GA got without CSI.

Episode 18: 22.677 million viewers - 17.2% drop
Episode 19: 22.304 million viewers - 1.6% drop

And those are without any holidays and with very vigorous ad campaigns.

Could be any number of reasons. And I'm fully willing to say it could just be the simple fact that people are tuning out for good. That's logical enough. But even with these low ratings, CSI was still the number one scripted show of the week, and second (third, actually) to nothing but American Idol.

My point is that every single show this year seems to have gone down in the ratings.

American Idol got just over 26 million for both its Tuesday and Wednesday shows. Those are low numbers for them. House is down a few pegs with 20.35 (it was getting 24 or 26 million following American Idol just a few weeks ago). Dancing With the Stars is down. Desperate Housewives? 15.933. WAYYY down. Lost has 11.658.

Maybe as the weather starts improving, people have better things to do at night than watch TV. Maybe the college student numbers are disrupting the usual trends.

Maybe people are downloading far more than they used to instead of watching live. Tivo, tape recordings, etc. etc. etc.

If DH or House or American Idol or Dancing With the Stars or Lost or Grey's Anatomy had not also fallen, I would've said that CSI's numbers are embarassing. As it is, it just looks like par for the course.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Yeah I know...but I just would have thought CSI's numbers would have been up more! But, that is just me and my competitive nature. Heheheh...honestly...even though I'm not a big GSR person...the coming out of GSR I think will be really good as far as bringing in the viewers. And, not for the obvious reason as Grissom/Sara are exposed, but just people watching to see the reaction of the team. HOnestly I don't think GSR has done anything for CSI this year as far as CSI ratings increasing...but hopefully once it's out in the open...it will create a nice stir. Just depends on how the TPTB handle the situation. If it's not handled properly it could have a bad reaction from the viewers.
