See, I never really had a problem with the inclusion or exclusion of their relationship prior to this ep... Sometimes they gave us overkill, sometimes they gave us nothing but I did like the idea of knowing that Grissom was there and that maybe they were happy, after 13 years.I see. I wonder why they ever made her marry him in the first place? With WP/Grissom off the show, when Jorja/Sara came back there was no reason to have them be married. They could have split up and that could have been the reason she was back. I think I might have preferred that...maybe something about her not putting up with something from him and her leaving. I liked the old, independant Sara better. But...I'm speaking as a non-
GSR fan, so for what it's worth.
I think last night's episode would be rendered irrelevant if they don't continue the saga now. They left too much unanswered to drop it right here and now. I think I mentioned this in the GSR thread too, but Jorja said in an interview prior to yesterday's episode that "all roads lead back to Grissom". Now she wasn't speaking solely on the basis of GSR, however I don't think she'd have said it if it didn't apply in some way.
They've spent so much investing in these characters, and their happiness to bring it all crashing down. I feel like this may be a final conflict before they discover their happiness together..
This episode made a lot of GSR fans angry, but by dragging out the story, they've probably angered a lot of non-GSR fans as well.
Regardless of my favourite ship sinking in front of my eyes, this episode was hands-down the best of the season. Of the last few seasons, at that.
After reading some of the comments here I feel a little bit better. I'm not a particular GSR shipper like others, yet I very much like(d) GSR and want(ed) them to be together and stay together. I will never understand why producers play with that idea for years, bring them finally together, and then make them break up. It's like with Bones or Castle. One of the basic concepts of these two shows is the chemistry between the main characters and the possibilty - and now truth - of them having fallen for each other. I don't know why WP doesn't want to return even for a short appearance, like appearing at the door or so. There doesn't even have to be dialogue, for God's sake! Or they could use old material, hell, they spend so much effort on special effects, so why not using it on making some old-fashioned Grissom come back?! I'm very sad indeed, but I still hope that there's more to come also in regard to the title of the episode. Or, as the saying goes, it ain't over till the fat lady sings.
