"Acting On Impulse and Love"- A CSI: LV story (Greg centered)

Great chapter. Happy that Dawn survived. Nice job on the Warrick/Dawn conversation. Hopefully now Nicky can rest:)

Yeah, that's why I wrote him saying that message for Nicky ... cause his death really hit Nicky hard and he needed some kind of peace.

I didn't get another chapter done last night unfortunately. I was gonna write the Ryan/Valera fic (or at least a few parts of it) and then do another chapter of this one, but... I was hurting too much... my back was killing me and I couldn't sit up any longer so I had to go to bed. Hopefully I'll get some of both fics written today. I only got about three paragraphs of the Rave fic written before I had to call it a night.

Chapter Fourteen: Movie Night in the Hospital

Dawn and Greg were watching a movie in Dawn's hospital room. It was a scary movie. "Run, stupid! Don't just stand there! Run!" Dawn shouted at the tv. "Why do they always stand there like knots on a freaking log? I just don't get that!"

Greg chuckled at his wife. "They do that because that's how they're written."

"Smart ass!" She laughed. "Oh, great! Long, dark hallway... that can't be good." She said, looking at the screen again. "Ah!" She screamed and jumped, startled as something jumped out at the person on the movie. "Ow!" She said, grabbing her side.

"Okay, that's enough." Greg said, grabbing the remote and turning the movie off.

"Greg! I want to watch the rest of that!" She protested.

"You can when you're better."

"But, it's gonna bug me when I have to wonder what happened next until I can watch it again. It'll be too long. I can't stand being in suspense."

"I'm sorry, honey." He said. "But, I can't risk you hurting yourself worse."

"But, Greg!" She pouted.

"Don't pout, Dawn... and behave!" He told her.

"Oh, what are you going to do if I don't behave?" She asked, playfully.

He smirked and raised an eyebrow, contemplating the answer to her question. Several people came into the room to visit Dawn, rescuing Greg from having to answer her question.

"Hey, Dawn." Catherine said. "How are you feeling?"

"I was fine until Greg turned off the movie I was watching." She said, crossing her arms across her chest and sticking her lip out.

"Greg, why did you do that?" Ryan asked.

"It was a scary movie and she screamed and jumped and it was hurting her to do that. So, I turned it off so she wouldn't further injure herself. And now she's pouting about it and all upset with me. I can't win for losing, cuz."

Ryan laughed, but it was Nick who spoke. "Dawnie, you do know that it's for your own good, right?"

"But, Nicky... it was just getting good. I wanted to see what happened to the girl who went down that long, dark hallway."

"Well, I'll tell you what happened." Nicky said. "If she wasn't the main star of the movie, then she probably gets killed."

"Well, thanks for ruining it, Nicky!" She mock-pouted.

Wendy picked up the DVD case and looked at it. "I've seen this movie." She said. "I have an idea on how you can finish it tonight... that is if Greg and Nick approve."

"What's your idea, Wendy?" Greg asked.

"You'd be open to it?" Dawn inquired.

"Sure." He said. "I don't like it when you're mad at me." He said with a mock-pout.

"More like a teensy-weensy bit annoyed... no... more like aggravated. Whichever is the lesser of the two." Dawn told him.

"So, what's your idea, Wendy?" Greg asked again. "And by the way, this time if it doesn't work, you're being the bad guy, Nick."

"Hey!" Nick said. "Why me?"

"Cause you don't have to live with her." Catherine said with a laugh.

"Okay, my idea is that we can watch it now and I'll tell you when the scary parts are coming up." Wendy said. "That way, you'll be prepared and maybe you won't jump or scream."

"Okay." Greg said. Everyone sat down and Greg turned the movie back on to the spot they left off on.

After a few minutes, Wendy turned to Dawn. "Okay, right here in about half a minute, something is going to jump out at her. Don't scream, don't jump... know it's coming. It's gonna come out of that door right there on the left."

Despite knowing it was coming, when it did Dawn still couldn't help but jump. "Ah!" She screamed. "Ow!"

Greg tossed Nick the remote. "Well, that didn't work." Nick said. "One more chance, Dawnie."

"Okay, something's going to happen right here. She opens the window and something jumps out at her, but it's just a cat." Wendy said. Well, that passed without any trouble. "Okay, now she's gonna open the closet and something's in there. Get ready."

"This is like a really weird episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000." Hodges said.

"Shut up, Hodges!" Wendy told him. He looked dejected.

"Ah!" Dawn jumped and screamed. "Ouch!"

"That's it, Dawnie." Nick said. "You're done." He clicked off the tv. "And NO pouting, young lady!"

"Babe, I'm gonna go to the house and pick up some stuff for you, okay?" Greg told Dawn.

"Okay."

"I'll be back soon. I love you."

"Love you too." She said and he kissed her.

"Hold up, Greg." Nick said. "I'll go with you."

"Ryan," Greg started, walking toward his cousin. "In case I forgot to say it before, thank you."

"For what, Greg?" Ryan inquired.

"For saving Dawn." He hugged him. "And please don't let her turn that movie back on." He whispered.

"I promise I won't."

"Hey, Cath," Nick said, "don't let Dawnie turn that movie back on."

"I won't."

"Thanks." He walked over to Dawn's bed. "You behave!" He told his sister, kissing her forehead.

Greg walked back over to Dawn's bed. "Anything in particular you want that I don't already know about?"

"The one thing I want most I can't have." She said.

He sighed. "Dawn, I promise you can finish the movie when you're better."

"I'm not talking about the movie, Greg." She told him.

"Then what is it?"

"We're still newlyweds, Greg." She said quietly. "What I want is to be at home in bed with you."

"I know, honey... me too, but until your ribs heal..."

"I know, but it still sucks."

"I know, sweetheart. I love you."

"I love you too."

"I won't be long." He kissed her.

"Do that again please." She said and he kissed her again. "More." He smiled, kissing her again. He moved away from the bed, but then came back to kiss her again, this time longer. He and Nick left the room.

~ ~ ~

Greg was gathering up some things for Dawn. Nick was in the kitchen getting something to drink. Greg picked up Dawn's notebook, knowing she'd want that to write in. A piece of paper fell out of the notebook and onto the floor. Greg bent down to pick it up. His curiousity got the best of him and he started to read it.

This poem/song is dedicated to my wonderful loving, gorgeous husband. I love you more than you'll ever know.

"Safe In Your Love"

Your love is like heavenly flares
Burning into me, nothing can compare
Your love is pure and it is true
You're always here when I need you

You're really quite the charmer
Like a knight in shining armor
I feel so safe in your love
Baby, we fit like a glove

When you hold me in your embrace
All doubts are erased
All my fears disappear
Whenever you are near

All the pain is washed away
Cause with you I am safe
No more tears
When you are here

I feel so safe in your embrace
Safe in your love
In your arms
Safe with you.

Tears filled Greg's eyes. He loved his wife more than anything in the world. She had written him a beautiful poem with beautiful words. He couldn't help but think about how close he had came to losing her. Those thoughts were overwhelming and his emotions took over. He slid down on the floor and let the tears flow like rain.

Nick wondered what was taking Greg so long. He walked down the hallway to the door of Greg and Dawn's bedroom. He saw Greg sitting on the floor and he heard him crying. He walked into the room "Greg?"

Greg looked up. "Hey."

"What's wrong?"

"We almost lost her today, Nick."

Nick walked further into the room and sat down beside Greg. "But, we didn't. She's going to be just fine."

"It scared me, Nick. The thought of being without her terrified me. I don't think I could go on if I lost her."

"But, you didn't, Greg. She's okay. And you two are going to live a long, happy life together. You're going to someday have kids and then much later, grandkids. Trust me, you and my sister... you're going to grow old together... the way it should be. Nothing is going to happen to either of you... not as long as I'm alive." He wrapped an arm around Greg's shoulder, giving him a quick hug. "Come on, let's go back to the hospital." They got up from the floor and walked out of the room with all the stuff for Dawn.

Great update, loved the pouty scenes. And the piece of poetry was a nice touch;)

"This is like a really weird episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000." Hodges said. "Shut up, Hodges!" Wendy told him. He looked dejected

Those two are made for each other. I love it,

I hope to have the Calleigh/Jake and Ryan/Tessa weddings in the next chapter, but I'm having trouble deciding on a wedding song for Cake. I don't want her to walk down the aisle to "Here Comes The Bride". Hopefully I'll figure out something soon so I don't have to keep putting that part of the story off.

I was a bit worried that the poem wouldn't come out sounding good. Did the Nick/Greg talk seem too "chick-flick moment" (to quote Dean from Supernatural)?

No, it was more like a family brother to brother bond going on there.:) I didn't read anything to chick-Flick

Nice work :) They should let her lay in bed and finish the movie lol
I wouldn't take no for an answer personally....I tend to get mad if I can't get what I want lol. But I don't really like scary movies...they just make me go "eww" lol. I'll take CSI instead

Chapter Fifteen: Frustration

Dawn was sitting in the hospital bed, Grissom was sitting in the chair beside her. Everyone else had gone to get something to eat in the cafeteria. Nick and Greg weren't back yet.

"I'm sorry." Dawn said.

"For what?" Grissom asked.

"For getting hurt."

"What?"

"I mean, I haven't been on the job very long and already I went and got myself hurt."

"Dawn, that isn't your fault."

"You're not mad?"

"At the people that set off that bomb, yeah. At you? No, not at all."

There were tears in her eyes. "Hey, what are the tears for?" He asked her.

"Just... I feel bad. Because of me you're short a CSI for a little while."

"Honey, don't worry about that. You just worry about getting better, okay? Besides, since Warrick... well, Wendy's been filling in temporarily until we can find someone else for Warrick's position."

"I just... I hate this. Besing stuck in this hospital sucks. Being stuck in this bed sucks. I can't do any of the things I love, my job included. I can't watch my scary movies or my comedies cause it hurts to laugh or scream or jump. I can't... Greg and I are still newlyweds and I can't even... well, you know..."

"I know, honey." He said. "But, it's only temporary. Everything will back to normal soon."

"Hey." Ryan said, coming into the room. "Dawn, could I talk to you for a minute?" Dawn just shrugged.

"I'll see you later, Dawn." Grissom said, leaving the room.

"Okay, what's going on, Dawn?" Ryan inquired.

"I'm sick of being stuck here. Sometimes I just wish that..."

Ryan knew what she'd been about to say. "Hold on a second! Don't say that, Dawn! Don't even think it! You didn't see how Greg fell apart when that heart monitor went flat. Dawn, I really think it would tear him apart if anything happened to you. So, don't ever say or think anything like that again!"

"I'm sorry, Ryan." She said, in tears. "I didn't mean it!" She started to sob.

"Hey, it's okay." He said, pulling her into a hug. "Don't cry."

"I'm just so frustrated."

"I know, Dawn."

"Greg and I are still newlyweds and I can't even..."

"Dawnie," he said, using Nick's nickname for her, "it's just temporary. Believe me though, that is the last thing Greg's thinking about right now. He's just so glad that you're okay. He loves you, Dawn. He really and truly loves you."

"I know and I love him too."

"I know you do."

"Ryan?"

"Hmm?"

"Please don't tell him what I almost said. I really didn't mean to say it, I just..."

"Don't worry. My lips are sealed."

"Thank you, Ryan." She said softly. "For everything."

He shrugged. "We're family." He decided to get her mind off of her condition. "Hey, guess what?"

"What?"

"I'm going to ask Tessa to marry me."

"Really? That's great, Ryan."

"I just have to talk to Jake first."

"Talk to me about what?" A voice said from the doorway.

Ryan and Dawn turned and saw Jake and Calleigh standing there. Dawn smiled when she saw Calleigh. "Calleigh!" She said. "Hi, Jake."

Jake smiled. "Hi, Dawn." Calleigh went to give Dawn a hug. "How are you feeling?" Jake asked.

"I've been a little frustrated."

"Calleigh freaked out when she heard that you were hurt." Jake informed her.

"I'm glad you two came." Dawn said.

"Well, I think us guys will let you two have your girl talk." Jake said as he and Ryan walked toward the door. Ryan turned and gave Dawn a smile before leaving the room.

"So, how are you really?" Calleigh asked her friend.

"I hate this, Calleigh! This is so not where I want to be."

"Where do you want to be?"

"At home in bed with my husband." She said. "You know... enjoying being a newlywed."

Calleigh smiled. "Yeah, I know what you mean."

"It's been pretty much every night since we got married. Now it's been two days that I've been stuck here... that I haven't been able to be with him that way. And he and I can't even do that until I'm healed. It hurts to laugh during comedy movies or to jump and scream during scary movies. But, I'd give all of that up just to be able to be home with Greg... in our bed."

"Sweetie, it's going to be okay. Greg loves you a lot. I'm sure he's not even thinking about the things you're worried about. I'm sure he's just relieved that you're okay."

"I know."

"Then what are you so worried about? Surely you don't think that he would..."

"No! Absolutely not! I just... well, what if I kiss him and he gets all.... you know... and then I can't..."

Calleigh chuckled softly. "Sweetie, I don't think you need to worry about things like that right now. It'll be okay. You'll be back to new before you know it."

"I hope so because I'm going nuts!"

Greg walked into the room. "Speaking of the hottie." Calleigh whispered to Dawn, making her giggle. "Hi, Greg."

"Hey, Calleigh." Greg greeted. He walked over to the opposite side of Dawn's bed. He sat down beside her, gently pulling her toward his face. He kissed her like there was no tomorrow. "I love you, baby." He whispered in Dawn's ear as he held her in his arms. "I love you more than anything in this entire world." He kissed her again and she melted in his arms.

(end of chapter)

===========================

Okay, I was gonna write more of this chapter, but last night I couldn't keep my eyes open. I was so tired. So, I had to stop it here. Hopefully weddings will be next chapter.

Chapter Sixteen: Two Weddings and a Birth

It was a couple of months later when Jake and Tessa (being twins) decided to have a double wedding.

“So, who is going to go first?” Alex asked.

"Well, since I was born first," Jake started, "I think it's only fair that Tessa gets married first."

Everyone laughed at his comment.

Jake walked Tessa down the aisle. Calleigh was Tessa's maid of honor. Greg was Ryan's best man.

Duke walked Calleigh down the aisle. Alexx was her matron of honor. Ryan was Jake's best man.

Both weddings were successful.

~ ~ ~

"Okay, it's time for our dance, lambchop." Duke told Calleigh, taking her hand. Jake danced with Tessa. They all danced to "Butterfly Kisses" (Bob Carlisle). For the couples' first dance as husband and wife, they danced to Bon Jovi's "Thank You For Loving Me". Greg and Dawn danced together to that song as well, as did Eric and Natalia and Alexx and her husband and Horatio danced with Yelina.

Natalia caught Calleigh's bouquet, Eric caught the garter that Jake threw. Horatio caught the garter Ryan threw and Yelina caught Tessa's bouquet. The double reception was a success.

~ ~ ~

Several months later, Dawn and Greg were visiting Tessa, Jake, Ryan and Calleigh in Miami. They all went shopping. The girls were in a different shop (at the mall) than the guys were. Tessa's water broke.

Dawn pulled out her phone and dialed Ryan. "Ryan, it's time."

"Time for what, Dawn?"

"Tessa's water just broke."

"We'll be right there!" He hung up. "Come on guys. Tessa's water broke." He told the other two and they rushed to the store the girls were in.

~ ~ ~

Tessa wanted Jake and Ryan both in the room with her while she was in labor. Ryan was on her right side, Jake on her left, both of them holding her hand. The others were out in the waiting room.

"Do they know what they're having?" Greg asked Calleigh.

"No, they wanted to wait."

"Do you think they could have twins since she and Jake are twins?"

"They thought about that, but according to all the ultrasounds, it's just one baby."

"I'm thinking its a girl." Dawn said.

"Why do you think that, honey?" Greg asked his wife.

"I don't know." She answered. "It's just a feeling."

"I'm not taking that bet." Greg smirked.

"What would be the point, sweetie?"

"What?"

"Well, I mean it would be pointless to bet money, right? Because you know... we're married and all... so our money is combined."

"Right." He laughed. "But, I knew if I took that bet it wouldn't be for money. And you my little minx are creative. There's no telling what I'd be getting myself into if I took that best and lost." He laughed again. "Besides, I'm not about to question your womanly intuition."

She laughed. "Smart move, babe."

Jake came out into the waiting room.

"So, what do you have, Jake?" Calleigh asked. "Niece or nephew?"

"Niece." Jake answered.

"Told ya!" Dawn said.

"See, that's why I didn't go against your instincts." Greg said, kissing her temple. "I knew I'd lose."

"Tess and Ryan wanted me to tell all of you that you can come in and meet their daughter." Jake said.

They all walked into the hospital room. "Aww..." Calleigh and Dawn said.

"She's beautiful." Greg told the couple.

Ryan was sitting on the bed beside Tessa and he was holding their daughter. "I just can't get over how tiny she is." He smiled down at his daughter. The baby yawned and he kissed her forehead.

"What's her name?" Calleigh asked.

"Tiffany Megan." Tessa answered.

"That's a pretty name." Calleigh told them.

"So cuz," Ryan said, looking up at Greg, "when are you and Dawn going to have a kid?"

"Dawn and I are going to have twins... a boy and a girl." Greg said.

"What?" Tessa said. "Dawn, you're pregnant?"

She laughed. "No, not yet at least."

"Then how does Greg know that you're going to have twins?" Ryan asked.

"'Cause I dreamed it a while back." Greg said.

"What?"

"I had this dream where I was asleep and felt someone jump on the bed. I opened my eyes and there was this beautiful little girl... about two or three years old. She was calling me Daddy. Then this little boy about the same age came into the room also calling me Daddy. Then Dawn came in and she was pregnant again." He explained. "So, I know we're going to have at least three kids."

"You do realize this was just a dream, right?" Jake said. "It might not happen exactly like the dream."

Calleigh playfully smacked Jake's arm. "Don't dash his hopes, honey."

"It will happen like that. Trust me."

"How do you know for sure?"

"Instinct." Greg said. "Or intuition... whichever you prefer. But, mark my words, it will happen."

Great update. Lots of happiness in this chapter. And what a pretty name you chose for the baby.:)

Good job, update more soon;)

I was gonna put their names together to make a name for the baby, but that way all that I could come up with was Tyra... and that just didn't sound right with his last name.
