"Acting On Impulse and Love"- A CSI: LV story (Greg centered)

Awesome, I loved the Home Improvement bit.

Poor Dawn, hope she's okay.

Great update. Don't wait so long next time:lol::lol:

I loved the Home Improvement bit.

Yeah, I was watching it while I was writing the chapter and that idea just popped into my head.

I've only seen Springfield once,in the original Forever Knight movie

I didn't know he was in that. I think I've only seen eps of the series though.

Okay, here's the next chapter. It might be kind of short though.

Chapter Eleven: Nightmares

Greg woke up when he felt someone shaking his arm. "Greg?" Dawn said. She saw the tears in his eyes. "Are you okay?"

He grabbed her, pulling her into his arms. "Promise me that you'll never leave me." He said.

"It's okay, Greg." She said, realizing he must have had a nightmare. "I'm right here." She hugged him tighter. "It was just a bad dream. I'm not going anywhere, I promise."

"I love you so much."

"I love you too, Greg." She kissed him.

"I need you, Dawn."

"I'm here, honey."

"I need you so badly." He started to kiss her neck. "I don't know what I'd do if I lost you." He kissed her again.

"I'm not going anywhere, sweetheart." She put her hands through his hair and stroked his temples with her thumbs.

He leaned down and kissed her lips before pulling her closer. He flipped over so that he was laying over her as he continued to kiss her. "I love you." He whispered once more.

~ ~ ~

It was Dawn's first day on the job. Grissom was about to hand out assignments.

"So, what have we got today?" Catherine asked.

"There's only one case today. It's a big scene and they want all of us on it. There are several bodies inside and outside the property. Cath, you and Nick work the outside. Greg, Dawn, you two are with me inside." Grissom said. He wanted to see how Dawn and Greg worked together. Ecklie had wanted him to make sure that their personal relationship would not affect their work.

The scene was a college frat house. "Looks like someone slaughtered an Abercrombie and Finch ad." A young rookie cop on the scene said.

Dawn snapped her head around. "Why did you say that?" She asked.

"It's a line from Buffy." The cop said.

"I know that, but it's a little inappropriate given the circumstances, don't you think?"

"Dawn..." Nick said softly, walking toward her. "Don't start anything.

"I'm not. I was just stating my opinion on his comment. This is not a game and it's not a television show or a movie. Comments like that do not belong here." She said where the cop could hear her, but then lowered her voice. "And no, he doesn't get any props for using a Buffy quote!" She shook her head and started toward the house with Greg behind her. "Insensitive jackass!" She muttered about the cop.

Greg chuckled softly. That was his girl, always calling people out when need be. He liked that about her... that she didn't take crap from anyone. He really wanted to kiss her, but he'd have to wait until they got home. He knew good and well that Grissom was observing how they worked together. He did not want either of them to have to change shifts.

They looked over the scene, took pictures and collected evidence. Dawn found a piece of paper on the table. She took a picture of it before picking it up. She turned the paper over to the side that was written on. She placed it back on the table and took a picture of it before picking it up again to read it. She looked around the room and didn't see Grissom. Greg was taking a picture of a bloody foot print on the floor. "Greg!" She called out.

"What is it?" He stood to his feet and walked toward her.

"Look at this." She handed him the letter.

"A ransom note?" He said.

"Looks like it." She answered. "Where's Grissom?"

"He left the room to go ask Brass something."

"Oh."

Grissom walked back inside. "You two find something?" Grissom asked.

"Yes, I found what appears to be a ransom note." Dawn told him. Greg handed him the note, which was already in a clear evidence bag. Dawn had already written on the label where the note had been found and had put her name on it as being the one who found it.

"I'm going to go show this to Jim. Good work you two." Griss said, leaving the room again.

~ ~ ~

Ecklie walked up to Grissom's office door and knocked. "Come in." Grissom called from inside the office. Ecklie opened the door. "Conrad." Grissom said.

"Gil."

"I don't think there's anything to worry about." Grissom told him. "Dawn and Greg were both extremely professional. I even left the room for a bit, but kept an eye on them and observed them when they thought I wasn't there. They'll be fine."

"Good." Conrad said. "But, you'll keep an eye on them?"

"Yes, I will."

"Thanks, Gil. So, how about Dawn and Nick?"

"What about them?"

"Do they work together well?"

"You didn't ask me to observe the two of them together."

"Well?"

"I'll do that tomorrow."

"Good. See you later, Gil." He left the office.

I honestly don't know if I'll write that part. I'd have to think up another crime scene idea and I kinda suck at those. This one was a last minute idea.

I hope you find something :)
actually some people use wierd humor to cope...maybe that's why the comment was made?
I don't remember what ep that was from

I'll try to get another chapter written tonight. However, I don't know if I'll be able to post it tomorrow or not. I have some family members that are supposed to be coming (from out of town) to visit. I don't know how long they're gonna be here.

Update: I've got part of the next chapter written I was going to write another fic with Ryan and an OC, but I've decided to just put that in this fic. So as soon as I get that part written, that should be it for that chapter. :)

Chapter Twelve: Case for Self Defense

The CSIs were sitting at the table at Dawn and Greg's house. They had invited everyone over for diner. Dawn wanted to cook something special for all of them.

"So, this last case was weird, huh?" Nick said.

"Yeah." Greg said.

"Who would have thought that it would have turned out the way it did?" Cath said. "I certainly didn't see it coming."

"I know." Dawn added. "Some dirty cop forces some poor woman to go and pretend like she's gonna buy drugs from a dangerous drug dealer, but then run out of there before she pays for the drugs." She shook her head. "And then the drug dealer sends several of his lackies over to the poor woman's house. Her family hides in the attic, one of them has a cellphone. 911 is busy, so they call other family members and friends and explain the situation. Those people go to the house with weapons and take out all the bad guys both inside and outside the house."

"But, they fail to notice that the woman's small child has been snatched by the only woman in the drug dealer's group... and she's somehow gotten by the family's reinforcements." Nick said. "In fear for their lives and the life of the small child, the rest of the family hides outside of town. They don't have the money for the ransom and they can't go to the police."

"Yeah, it's just lucky for that kid that we found her in time." Greg said.

"And as for that scumbag dirty cop, I hope he gets the book thrown at him!" Dawn exclaimed. "Hell, they should throw all of the books at him!"

~ ~ ~

A few weeks passed and it was safe for Kyle to go back to Miami. Instead of anyone leaving Vegas to take Kyle back home, Horatio and Ryan went to Vegas to pick Kyle up. Ryan went with Horatio so he could see his cousin. He didn't tell Greg he was coming. He decided to rent a car to drive while he was in Vegas so that Horatio wouldn't have to drive him around everywhere. Ryan had even brought his girlfriend along with him.

~ ~ ~

Greg was in the bathroom when the doorbell rang. Dawn went to the door and opened the wooden door, leaving the storm door shut and locked.

"Yes?" She asked the couple at the door.

"Are you Dawn?" The man inquired.

"Yes, I am."

"Hi, I'm Ryan; Greg's cousin."

"Oh, hi."

"This is my girlfriend, Tessa."

"Hi, Tessa. Why don't you both come on inside?" She unlocked the storm door and opened it. They both walked inside. "Greg will be out in a minute."

Dawn excused herself and went into the dining room for a second, coming back out with a small puppy in her arms.

"Ooh, what a cute puppy!" Tessa said. "How old is it?"

"He's eight weeks old. His name is Asher."

"He's so cute." Tess cooed, petting the puppy who licked her hand.

"What kind of dog is he?" Ryan asked.

"Husky."

"Hi there, little guy." Ryan said, petting the puppy.

Greg entered the living room. "Ryan!"

"Hey, Greg." Ryan said and the cousins hugged. "This is my girlfriend, Tessa."

"Hi, Tessa." Greg said.

"Hi. I heard that you've met my brother."

"Your brother?"

"Tessa's brother is Jake." Ryan informed them.

"Jake as in Calleigh's fiance?" Dawn asked.

"Yes." He reached into his pocket. "And by the way, she asked me to give you this. She said to tell you both to tell all of the others that they are invited as well."

Dawn looked excitedly at the envelope that Ryan had handed her. She opened it and took out the invitation. "Oh, they set the date!"

Chuckling at his wife's enthusiasm, Greg turned to Ryan. "So, did Jake introduce you two?"

"No, actually Calleigh did. She wasn't trying to hook us up together or anything. She and Tess were just out shopping together one day and I bumped into them. Then later that week, Tessa and I bumped into each other again and well, the rest as they say is history."

"So, was Jake cool with it?" Greg asked.

"Not really at first. He was suspicious of Ryan." Tessa said.

"Why?"

"Well, to catch Ron Saris, Horatio had to set up this elaborate scheme. He faked his death and I helped him." Ryan explained.

"But only you knew about it?" Dawn asked.

"Well, me and a couple of other people. Calleigh and Jake didn't know. They came to my place to ask me some questions."

*Flashback*

Tessa walked out of the bathroom and Ryan walked toward her. "Sweetie, why don't you come sit down." He said, knowing she didn't feel well. He took her hand and led her toward the couch. She sat down and he sat beside her. "Do you need anything, honey?" He asked, starting to massage her shoulders.

"Just keep doing that and I'll be fine." She replied.

"As you wish." He said as he continued the massage. "You know, I could give you a full body massage if you prefer." He said with a grin and a wink.

She turned toward him. "Mmm... sounds good to me." She stood to her feet and he stood up as well. He kissed her passionately as he lifted her into his arms and carried her to the bedroom.

A little while later, there was a knock on the door. Ryan opened the door to see Calleigh and Jake on the other side. Jake's phone rang, so he took the call outside. Ryan told Calleigh to come inside and she did. Calleigh saw Tessa.

"Tessa!"

"Hi, Cal." Tessa replied with a wave.

"You two are..." She was stunned as she looked from one friend to the other. "Wow..."

"Yeah, we've been dating for a while now. I didn't want Jake to know. I know he's my twin brother and he's very protective of me. Sometimes its just like since he's twenty-nine minutes older than I am that he can boss me around. I didn't want to deal with that."

"Ryan, I'm sorry, but I have to ask these questions."

"What questions, Calleigh?"

"Why did you leave in the middle of the interrogation the other day?"

"That was my fault." Tessa said. "I had a doctor appointment. Ryan went with me."

"Why did Ryan have to go with you?"

"Because I'm pregnant and he's the father." Tessa replied, causing Calleigh's jaw to drop.

Jake walked in and saw Tessa and Ryan standing side by side. Ryan had his arm around Tessa. "What the hell is going on here?"

"Jake, you didn't listen to your messages, did you?" Tessa said.

Jake didn't hear her comment. "What are you doing with my sister, man?" He asked Ryan.

Ryan smirked. "The same things you do with Calleigh every night."

Tessa laughed, but playfully smacked Ryan's arm. "Ryan!" She exclaimed, blushing.

"You two are dating?" He asked, but then shook his head. "Nevermind, we'll deal with that later. Ryan, people think that you've been acting strange lately."

"He didn't expect to learn that he's gonna be a father. It threw him for a loop." Tess chimed in.

"Stop trying to cover for him, Tess." Jake told his sister, but then did a doubletake. "Did I hear you say that you're pregnant?"

"Yes, I am."

"With Ryan's kid?"

"That's right."

Jake sighed. "Ryan, you got a text message saying 'it's done'. That's exactly what Juan Ortez told someone to tell him when Horatio was dead."

"Jake, stop it!" Tess nearly yelled. "The text was from me!"

"From you?" Calleigh asked.

"Yes." Tessa said. "Ryan wanted me to tell Jake about us. I wasn't ready to do that, but Ryan said it was for the best. He said that the three of us should get together and talk." She looked at Jake. "So, I called you to set it up, but got your stupid answering thing instead. So, I left a message for you which you obviously didn't check. After that, I sent Ryan the text letting him know it was done. So, just check your messages already, Jake and quit interrogating my boyfriend!"

"Why are you lying for him, Tessa?"

"I'm not lying, Jake!" She said, getting upset.

"The text was not from your phone."

"That's because mine was messed up, so I borrowed a friend's phone. Check your messages and you'll see that my call to you was from Angie's phone as well. You should check these things before calling people liars!" She was visibly upset and had tears in her eyes.

"Jake, come on." Calleigh said softly. "Take it easy; she's pregnant."

Ryan wrapped his arms around Tessa to comfort her. "Ryan..." She said softly.

"Shh... it's okay, Tess." He kissed her forehead.

"Jake, why don't you check your messages?" Calleigh said.

"Okay." He got out his phone and began to check his messages. He heard the message Tessa had left for him. He immediately felt awful for how he had accused his sister of lying to protect Ryan. "I'm sorry." He told Tessa.

"For the record, I would NEVER betray Horatio. I owe him a great deal. After all, he was the one who got me my job back." Ryan told Jake.

"I'm sorry, Ryan." Jake said and Ryan nodded. Jake looked at his sister. "Tess, I'm sorry, okay? I know I'm overprotective of you and it gets out of hand sometimes. I'm sorry." He pulled her into a hug, but she didn't hug him back. "Tess..." He said softly.

"You can be a real jerk sometimes, you know that?" Tessa asked her brother.

"Yeah, I know. I'm sorry. Forgive me?"

She sighed and finally wrapped her arms around her brother's back.

====================================

Okay, there it is. The idea for the solution of the case the team was working on in the last chapter was from a weird dream I had the other night. I don't know when I'll get the next chapter up, but I'll try soon. Hope you've enjoyed this chapter. :)

Oh my...:eek::eek:Ryan a dad:eek::eek:

Great update hon, And very intersting way to bring in the "It's Done" at the end of the season.

Awesome job, don't wait to long to update.;)

I'm hoping I'll be able to write more today sometime. I think instead of skipping ahead a few years in this chapter, I'm going to write Cake's wedding scene and the birth of Ryan's kid(s). I'm debating on whether or not to give him twin babies since his wife is Jake's twin sis. :) If it's not twins, it'll be a girl... cause Ryan was so cute with that baby girl Bethany on that one ep of Miami. :)

I kept going over and over in my head all the different things the "its done" text message could mean.

I jotted down some ideas for the next chapter, but haven't gotten a chance to write out the chapter yet. Here's a preview of what's to come:

Ryan & Horatio help the Vegas team out with a case while they are in town.

Ryan is paired with Dawn for one part of the investigation. Greg is with Horatio, Nick with Griss and Catherine the lone investigator, but has Vartann with her.

There's an explosion that leaves some injured and some missing.

Okay, I changed my mind on some things for the next chapter. I have it written (finally!) and will post it soon. No one will go missing (I used the original storyline for this case to do a ryan/valera fic lol), but someone will be injured. :) I'll post the chapter as soon as I get a chance. :)

Chapter Thirteen - Who Are You?

Ryan and Horatio helped the Vegas team with a case while they were in town. Ryan was paired with Dawn, Nick with Grissom, Greg with Horatio and Catherine was the lone CSI, but had Vartann with her. Brass was with Nick and Grissom. It was all the same case, but covered a large area.

There was a large explosion. "Get down!" Horatio shouted to Greg, pulling him out of the way of falling debris.

"Thanks." Greg said.

~ ~ ~

"Dawn!" Ryan shouted, seeing her lying on the ground. He moved quickly toward her. She groaned. "Dawn, can you hear me?"

"Ryan?" She said hoarsely.

"Yeah, it's me. Hang on, okay? Let me get this debris off of you." He pulled it all off of her with great ease. "There you go."

"That was fast, Mr. Universe." She teased as she coughed.

He laughed. "You're gonna be okay."

She coughed again, this time coughing up blood. "Ryan?"

"Yeah?"

"Tell Greg and Nick that I love them."

"You can tell them yourself. You're gonna be okay."

"I don't know, Ryan. I feel like I'm dying."

"It's the pain talking, honey. You're gonna be okay."

"Ryan..." She said with tears in her eyes.

"What is it?"

"If I don't make it..."

"Don't talk like that, Dawn. It's gonna be okay."

"If I don't make it, will you tell Greg something for me? Tell him that he's the best thing that ever happened to me."

"You tell him yourself cause you're gonna be okay. You're not gonna die. Not on my watch. Look, the paramedics are already here. Everything's gonna be okay. I promise."

They loaded her on a stretcher. "Are you riding with us, sir?" an EMT asked.

"Yeah, I guess." He got into the ambulance with Dawn. He made sure to tell another officer to let Greg and Nick know what hospital Dawn was being taken to.

~ ~ ~

Dawn noticed that she was in what looked like a grey room. She saw a bright light in the corner of the room. She started to walk toward it. Suddenly, a figure stepped out from the light. "Stop!" The shadow said.

"Who are you?" Dawn asked.

"You can't come any further." He said as he stepped where she could see his face. "Your brother and your husband ... they need you."

"Who are you?" She repeated, but then she realized who he was. "You're... you're Warrick."

"Yeah. You need to go back, Dawn." He said. "It's not your time yet. Greg and Nicky need you."

"I..."

"Tell Greg that I'm glad that he found happiness and that he doesn't have anything to feel guilty about. Tell Nicky..." He paused. "Tell Nicky that I'm sorry that I made such a mess of my life. Tell him that he's the best friend that I've ever had and that I am thankful that I had him as a friend."

~ ~ ~

Greg and Nick stood at the window outside of Dawn's room, watching as the doctors tried to revive her. Both men had tears in their eyes. The heart monitor had only gone flat a few seconds ago. Catherine put an arm around Nicky.

"I can't lose her." Greg said, tears now streaming down his face. "I love her too much. I need her. She can't leave me now." Greg cried.

Ryan pulled his cousin into a hug. "She's gonna make it, Greg. I promise, it'll be okay."

"She's back!" One of the doctors said and Greg snapped his head up. He looked at the monitor and saw that it was no longer flat.

"Told you." Ryan said to Greg.

"Thatta girl, Dawnie." Nick whispered.

"She's a fighter." Cath said.

"Yeah."

"Mr. Sanders?" A doctor said, walking toward Greg.

"How's my wife, Doctor?"

"It was touch and go there for a little bit, but she's going to be fine. She's stable, but asleep. You may go sit with her if you want."

"Thank you, Doctor." Greg said. The doctor nodded and walked off to check on another patient.

Greg and Nick both entered Dawn's room. They sat on either side of her bed. Both of them taking one of her small hands in their larger ones. After a little while, she opened her eyes. Nicky had fallen asleep, but Greg noticed Dawn immediately.

"Hey, there's my girl." Greg said with a smile. He stood up, leaned over and hugged her gently.

"Hi." She whispered.

"Hi, baby." He said, getting her a glass of water. "Here you go."

"Thanks." She said, taking a drink.

"You had us scared there for a little while."

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay, baby. I'm just so glad that you're okay."

"I love you."

"I love you too, honey." He kissed her.

"Nick!" Dawn said, startling him awake.

"Oh. Hey, baby sis." He smiled, hugging her.

"I saw the light." Dawn said.

"What?" Both men asked.

"The light... I saw it." She said. "I was walking toward it when he stopped me. He said it wasn't my time yet and that you both needed me." She rambled.

"Who stopped you, Dawnie?" Nick asked.

"Warrick."

"What?" They both asked.

"He gave me a message for both of you."

"He did?" Greg inquired.

She nodded. "Greg, he said to tell you that you don't have to feel guilty for being happy and that he's glad that you found happiness." Greg brought Dawn's hand to his lips and kissed it. Dawn turned to Nick. "Nicky, he said to tell you that he's sorry he made such a mess of his life. He said you're the best friend that he ever had and that he thanks you for being such a good friend."

Tears formed in Nick's eyes and he leaned forward and kissed his sister's forehead.

~ ~ ~

Greg and Dawn were alone in the hospital room. Greg was sitting on the bed beside her with his arm around her. Her head was against his chest. "Greg?"

"Hmm?"

"Did Ryan tell you what I said?"

"What?"

"I thought I was going to die, Greg." She said and he kissed her forehead. "I told Ryan to tell you something, but he told me I could tell you myself."

"What did you want to tell me, honey?"

"That you're the best thing that's ever happened to me."

He turned and looked at her. Tears pricked the corners of his eyes. He put his other hand against her face. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me too, Dawn." He said softly. "Baby, you're my whole life... my whole world... my everything."

"Are you telling me how you feel or writing me a poem?" She teased.

"Shh..." He whispered, silencing her with a passionate kiss.

(end of chapter)

====================================

There! Finally, it's done! I'll try to get the next chapter up quicker this time. I just thought really long and hard about the case. And like I said, I used the original idea to sketch out a Ryan/Valera fic (which I'm probably gonna try to write tonight). Anyway, I hope you liked the chapter. :)
