Couple points to make here:
1. Cars. You girls need to rent them. Multiple people have said they don't want to rent cars. Bottom line -- you have to. Or you need to buddy up with someone else who is renting a car and share the expense with them. This isn't a trip where you can simply show up and expect that someone will be able to give you a ride. You need to be responsible about handling your own arrangements or buddying up. Also I cannot stress enough how un-public transporation friendly LA is. You will not find a cab. LA isn't New York or San Francisco. You don't just walk outside and magically a cab drives by. You have to call ahead for one, wait an insanely long time and they're quite expensive. And buses -- do not go there. LA isn't one of those commuter cities where the buses are clean and filled with working professionals. They are used as temporary shelter by people who prefer sitting on a bus all day instead of laying in the gutter. Yes, that's a stereo-type, but the point is that buses are not the cleanest or safest in LA and it will take you well over an hour to get from one side of LA to the other on a bus. Soooo ... cars ... rent them!
2) Private information. For the purpose of fascilitating people getting into groups and also to make it easy to get in touch with each other while we're in LA, I'd love it if people would send me their info. Tell me your name, what hotel you're staying at, what your flight plans are and give me a cell phone number where people can reach you in LA. I'd like to compile all this into spreadsheets and send to everyone coming on the trip. THIS INFORMATION WILL BE DISTRIBUTED VIA PM OR EMAIL ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE POSTED ON THE BOARD BY ANYONE. I want you all to be able to coordinate transportation and for safetys sake, it would be great to be make sure we all have a way to stay in touch while down there in case anyone gets lost. However, as this is a public board, all personal information needs to remain off the board.
I apologize in advance if I get bitchy about some of the details, but in order for everything to come off safely and without a hitch, this baby needs to be well organized.
ETA: Actually, I can't PM spreadsheets, so if everyone can include an email address with their information so I can just do one big mass spreadsheet email, that would be fantastic.
