Hell yeah Swami! I think Grissom needs the break, gutted not to see that slice of sexy cake on my TV every Tuesday but I have dvds lmao. BP is a wicked, atmospheric actor, i'll miss him but I spose we can see what it'd be like if he leaves and it continues.

It'll be nice to see if Cath can step up. I'm sure she will. I want Nicky boy to have some more screentime too. Hotness.

Woot, bring on Keppler, I love bad guys.

Well, tonight's episode looks to be Cath-centric, with some more Nick screentime than we've had recently.

I'm sure Cath will be able to step up whilst Grissom is away, after all she has supervised before. :) Anyway, I'm still more excited by tonight's episode first, with Marg's husband guest starring it should be interesting....

OOO he's reoccuring?! He was in Weeping Willows right? Ooh he was creepy, good actor.

Ooo im more exicted now. Ta for that Elsie.

^^^ Yes, he was in Weeping Willows. :)

I like that Adam Novak is in it, I wonder what his interaction with Catherine will be like following their last encounter?
I'm pleased to see the return of Novak and I agree that it's going to be very interesting to see how him and Catherine get on, I'm sure there will be some sort of tension.

I've also enjoyed episodes where the CSI's have traveled out of Las Vegas, in particular Hollywood Brass. I would also say Jackpot, but technically it's in Las Vegas, but as it was a very secluded area it had the same effect on me.

It is a shame that Grissom will be absent for a few episodes, but to be honest I think it will be a nice change. The rest of the cast are more than capable of making up for it and it won't be for long. :)

*ETA* Argh! Where the hell are my manners! Welcome to the thread SwamiCSIaholic. *waves*

:) It's okay Tinkerbell *waves to you* and ta for the welcome 19ams87 its wierd to be welcomed to a thred havn't had that in a while i've been on CSITalk for a few months now so I haven't a clue why I didn't find this thred sooner

Also in refrence to the Novak thing I really hope that he will continue to come back to the show everynow and then to throw a spanner in the works for Catherine. I love it when the characters have a sort of 'arch nemisis' sort of person and the fact that those two are married in reall life makes it even beter especially as they play 'i hate your guts' very well :D

ETA oh and please call me Swami (SwamiCSIaholic is such a pain to type, its too long :))

Leaving Las Vegas

Overall I thought this was a good episode. It was nice to see Catherine sparring with Adam Novak, and I found the case held me interest too.

I like it when the CSI's have to battle to get a bad guy off the streets, knowing that he was guilty and that they would have to find some other evidence to convict him with.

I thought the mother and daughter being murdered in their own home, and the rabbits being killed to be eerie and compelling, I was really rooting for Nick and Catherine to find the evidence needed to convict the killer, especially after the bunnies. :( I will also admit to shedding a tear just when the Dad and son were saying goodbye in the house. *sobs*, that one really got me. The reasons for the murders was senseless and very depressing, sometimes bad things do just happen to good people. Clearly he was a man with serious issues, and I don't always like to see an assumption of guilty without a suggestion that he may have had diminished capacity, which I certainly think he did notwithstanding his extremely violent behaviour.

I do think, as with 'Jackpot' and 'then there were none' that CSI does tend to portray small town law enforcement in a very bad light. Now, I admit that I don't know how it all works in the US, but I still find it a bit grating that they feel the need to highlight the incompetance of such people, especially as things seemed to start very positively with Beth. At least she didn't seem to hold much of a grudge and it 'all worked out in the end', so to speak. I also have slight issues with Catherine unbuttoning her shirt, but hey, it did the job! I liked her interaction with Novak, and I think they work well off each other. :)

Grissom was funny, as was Hodges. I liked Grissom's advice to Greg, kind words to Warrick, and the pissed off shake of the head he got from Catherine. Nick was funny and the hug embarrassing for all. Sara did not look impressed and I would have hoped that she would understand his need to go, and be more supportive, and he did say he would miss her, her cold shoulder approach disappointed me.

MCSK! What an ending....I guess we will have to wait for Grissom's return to see what is in that parcel.

Overall 8/10, and I cried, now that is a good evening's entertainment in my view! I'm looking forward to next weeks episode.

Wicked episode, Cath is one of my fav characters but I am loving her more this season. Shes really come into her own. Sure I miss the Grissom/Catherine moments but she is uber funny atm. Loved her and Nicks covo in the truck.

Nick: I, I thought you were, um, leaving couple months ago?
Cath: What cuz I shaved my beard?!

LOL that had me laughing for ages. I think the chemistry between Adam/Catherine was immense. They work well together (obviously cuz they married in RL lol) I don't mind that Novak character either, Margs hubbys a good actor.

Hodges is such a geek but I like him.

And I guessed that they were going for a Pyscho theme within the first minute, the whole 'mother' thing. One of my fave films.

I will also admit to shedding a tear just when the Dad and son were saying goodbye in the house. *sobs*, that one really got me.

Yeah that got me too.

Overall i'd also give it an 8/10. Can't wait to meet Keppler but going to miss Grissom.

Really enjoyed this one, lots of great chemistry between Catherine/Adam, Griss/Sara, Catherine/Nick. Good story too, a random killing is always an interesting story.

Nick hugging Grissom was just classic!

Welcome Swami I'm a newbie around here too and am glad to have this British thread as we are behind. Its hard not to look at the spoilers on the other threads (actually I'm useless and look at everything but luckily I dont feel it spoils seeing the actual episodes) :D

Ta Lvodkadiet and yeah I'm the same, I'm uslees I alwyas look at the spoilers and I just know that I'm going to read EVRYTHING they put on the Big shots thred tonight but at the same time its great to have our own thred so that we can talk about the episodes we're on without making the others lag behind :)

Oh and I completley agree with all thats been said about Levaing Las Vegas, so far this seson I've felt that the episodes that arn't connected to the Miniture Killer or to Greg's storyline have been to forced, they havn't been that great. But this one was a deffinate exeption to that.

I'm uslees I alwyas look at the spoilers and I just know that I'm going to read EVRYTHING they put on the Big shots

I'm also guilty of that. It's just too tempting!

That line from Gman was well funny, BP has great comic timing.

Gil: Nick, stop, hugging me!

OK, it's that day already (very confusing after the Bank Holiday weekend). Here is what we have to look forward to tonight:

THE CSI TEAM TRIES TO GET A READ ON ITS NEW MEMBER AS HE JOINS THEM IN TRACKING A SERIAL KILLER WHO HAS TARGETED YOUNG WOMEN SINCE THE 1970s.

"Sweet Jane" -- Catherine and the rest of the CSI team find it challenging to get a good read on their new member as he joins them in tracking a recently active serial killer who has been killing since the 1970s -- Liev Schreiber joins the cast in the recurring role of Michael Keppler, a seasoned CSI who is assigned to Grissom's team during Grissom's teaching sabbatical. Ned Beatty guest stars as Dr. David Lowry, the dentist of the newest victim.

As Catherine and Keppler begin to investigate the murder of a teen-aged "Jane Doe," both agree that the killer, who was meticulous in removing evidence from the body and its surrounding area, is likely a repeat offender. Soon they and the rest of the CSI team uncover three similar unsolved cases that suggest the serial killer has been active since 1975.

So, the first appearance of Keppler, and *sobs* the first episode without Grissom. I actually think it reads like a fairly strong episode. I am excited! :)

YEEEEY, KEPPLER! I'm way excited to meet him. Gonna miss Gman though. Sniff sniff.

Sounds like a good episode, I can't wait.

We need some more Nick action, seems like he hasn't been around for ages.

Sweet Jane
I actually liked this ep alot. I am intrigued by the character of Keppler (liev schrieber is hot though and has a great smile :)) and can't wait for his story to unravel. i feel Liev schrieber played the character well and loved his quirky moments like when he said the dentist reminded him of his uncle ralph and cath said cept the serial killer part and he said "i haven't seen him in a while you never know" cracked me up.
i felt there was a bit of hostility between himself and catherine at the beginning but i hope that was just cath being a bit wary of having a new guy round because there were glimpses of a possiible good relationship there.
Hodges and Nick with the evidence was fun again wallace is having a cracking season this year!
Was great to see everybody involved especially the doc.
I liked the storyline too, reminded me a bit of the blue paint killer with the crimes being far apart. Was another good all round episode from a consitantly great show :D

What did you think of Ned Beatty as the grandfatherly killer? He gave us all the royal creeps when the episode first aired - he was one of the "best" murderers the show has had in ages, in that regard.
