After a couple of dodgy episodes, I felt this was back on form.
I love the funny, quirky stories that Grissom and Catherine do, and the one with Max was well done again. The guy who played him was a real sport.
'Hello, Jim. Cathy here was taking my fingerprints. Will Gilbert be joining us?' is possibly my favourite moment of the series so far. It really tickled me!
How caome William Petersen hasn't picked up an acting award for this show? His response to Ernie Dell shooting himself in front of Grissom was so empathetic. The measured look and pain he demonstrated... I wanted to hug the screen. Bless his little cotton socks. He is playing the strain of burn out very effectively. My heart went out when he asked Sara if no one was ever going to rape, murder or pillage again. So sad. Awww!
Excellent all round performances. Brass was back on his best sarcy form, Cath was hilarious - especially when Max revealed he'd run over his daughter - and Griss was distracted, sad and desperate.
Top marks, guys. Top marks.
