The 30 and Over Club

Tried both knitting and crochet, never got the hang of it. Cross-stitching I haven't done since my early teens. Hooked rugs are another matter. Got about 6 of them sitting in a plastic crate in the other room with no idea what I'm going to do with them, and just last summer finished off one that was bought for my niece that she was ignoring. Mostly I'll sew or quilt unless I'm on the Internet. :p Did a train quilt when my nephew was a baby that he fell in love with and wanted to use even when he got the big boy bed.

Though I mostly have knitting icons I'm mostly a crocheter. Can I share a pic? This is my most recent crochet project. An afghan I gave to my sister for a housewarming.

And I found a pattern of the Crime Scene Scarf for sale on Etsy

That's beautiful blackflag! I'll have to take a pic of my baby afghan my grandma made me but currently Kayla is using it while sleeping. :) I really wish I could do this stuff!

Hooked rugs? Did once of Garfield as a school project in grade school...I still have it, my dog loves to lie on it.

Lets see I knit, crochet, hook rugs and cross-stitch. I haven't done cross-stitching in years as I've found it was getting harder on the eyes.

My Mom does cross-stitching. She has tons of stuff for her hobby but the funny thing is that her eyesight actually improved...Weird right?

That's gorgeous! You've got me thinking about learning how to crochet.

Okay "old folks", this has been posted onto LJ lately. It's supposed to be that noise that mostly only people under 20 can hear.

Teenage Audio Test I was able to hear it, and it's a little annoying.

Although I was a little disappointed that they had something similar on NPR that I couldn't hear at all. :(

Just curious how many in here can hear it. :)

Yikes! I could hear it! Is the NPR one really playing? Or are they screwing with us?

To quote Alexx...."Are you messing with me?"
I couldn't hear anything (the NPR one). I guess I really am an old fogie!

When I tried it on a different computer, not the NPR recording but the other one, I could hear it. Must have been something about my computer. Plus I'm not entirely sure the NPR one works.

Hi all you fellow CSi`s.

Am just parking my bowlingrented – folkdancing – bingoplaying clogs here for a while.

As some of you know from a chatroom next door. I am a huge hiphugger fan. But I am also a European highugger which means I don´t quite get this:

Forensic drama CSI: Miami has been named the world's most popular TV show in a study of ratings in 20 countries. Scource: BBC News

Since then it has been a constant fight between the two shows, because even when CSI beats Grey in the ratings, CSI always had lower ratings among the younger viewers, the category most wanted by advertisers. Some critics have said that CSI is now taking the characters into more romantic paths so as to compete with Grey, although this has been denied by Carol Mendelsohn
Yes this is LV but LV is the flagship of the franchise and does the 2 other show have the same MO

So my question is:

How much influence does advertiserwishes/need have on the storyline/producers or the continuance of any show ? As an exampel is the E/C – story in Miami just an excuse for cutting an actor and bring in younger blood? Are we as an over 30s fan – base noexsisting? NB! “Sex and the City” has ended but did in it´s time attract the teens also.

Hmm just lost hope of ever having any entertainmenttvfun again. Will again put on my clogs and hope you all have a nice day

I am not quite sure why you have posted this in four different threads; that is considered spamming. Also, since this is more about general television ratings or viewership, not just CSI but Grey's Lobotomy and Sex In The City, this might fall into the area of the General TV and Media Forum.

But I will try to answer some of your questions. While most networks have tried to influence producers in some of the casting or story line decisions, they are not going to mess with one or two of their most watched series. Any romantic hookups in the CSI franchise are probably the decisions of the producers. I personally watch the show for the forensics and not for soap operas, so this switch in the characters' (Eric and Calleigh) behavior upsets me. Also, CBS has been targeting slightly older viewers for a long time, going back to the days of Murder She Wrote, but they wouldn't turn away younger viewers.
