Season 9 *Spoiler Lab* Discussions P2

I dunno if this consitutes as a spoiler but just a little something from TVGuide.

I will be sad when William Petersen leaves CSI, because I don't think he will be able to be replaced. I will watch the first week he is gone, but I don't think I will watch it after that. — Fox
MATT: Normally I turn a blind eye to Mega Buzz questions not phrased as such, but this topic begs addressing. Having sneak-peeked this Thursday's (super-creepy!) episode, in which Gil first shares his decision to leave CSI, I concur that yes, it is going to be very hard to say goodbye come Jan. 15. But I must put this out there: Give change a chance. After getting a feel for Laurence Fishburne's criminology prof, I'm curious to see how he ultimately fits in as a Level-1 CSI. Plus, the guy oozes screen presence. We're heading toward a "different" CSI, but not necessarily a lesser one.

Well that's a nice vote of confidence for LF. He's a great actor and I really think everyone should give him a chance.

Nobody will replace WP or Grissom, but I don't think TPTB are trying to do that, they're are trying to steer the show into a new direction. They could have simply ended the run once WP left, but they decided to try something new and different.

I'm willing to give the show a chance with LF. I've seen the previews and I like him so far. Time will tell.

Its nice to see somebody thinking with their head instead of their heart. Yes CSI is changing, yes it won't be the same, but does that have to mean something bad? NO

MacsChristmasAngel - Past sources have all said Sara would be in Three eps this season and she already has been, though one was via video.

Well change is bad for the more rapid GSR fans as their story arc will be ending and they seem to not be able to accept it because it became the only reason they watched the show. It's hard for this small but very, very vocal group to move on.

But for the rest of us, change is a good thing because we get fresh blood, fresh storylines, fresh perspectives from the characters.

Who knows what elements of the remaining charcters, Catherine, Nick, Brass and Greg, this new guy will bring out.

It's a nice mixture of the old and the new.

I think the third appearance was Sara's video tape.

Actually Sara has been in 4 so far, the "Woulda, Coulda Shoulda" under the car drowning, just briefly but, never-the-less, and when she returns in the final ep. that would make it 5. She stated on one of her sites 'I'll be in and out" and it won't be sad at all for GSR fans, speaking for myself, they'll be together, which is all we ever wanted and knew would happen. Plus when Billy Petersen returns as Grissom, she will probably be with him. The show will be new and different but not the same as the original CSI. someitmes change is good, sometimes not, time will tell:confused:

That was a flashback though, so I don't know if they were counting that or just the eps with new scenes.

when she returns in the final ep

Do you mean the final ep of the season or Grissom's final ep?

Grissom's final "ARC", and yes those were in flashbacks, CSI likes to do that, and have with others as well. Have you all read Melinda Clarke's take on them? nice person to take the time with her interview, and her take about GSR, how gracious:)And Jorja and Billy, will and are returning for "guest" spots down the line, so that'll be great when it happens!

I think that article has been posted here already. As far as we know. Jorja may not be back and frankly there is no reason for Sara to return since Grissom is gone and with his departure, there's no longer a story arc for the character.

And with new characters on board, there's no reason to really bring her back.

Here's a neat article about Laurence Fishbourne, but there's info on Catherine and Nick's new roles!!:bolian: Yipee!

Dr. Ray Langton, Nick and Catherine!

Thanks for posting that, GhostofChristmasPast. :) I think it is funny how CM wants to hug him now that she has seen him in CSI where she did not when he played Morpheus.

I really am eager to see how the rest of the team reacts to him.

Yeah, there would be no reason for Sara to be in Grissom's final episode. Unless, of course, they do an ER stunt and the last scene is him going to her. That would be totally lame, but I could see CM, DR and all the other GSR nuts doing that.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this Dr. Langston is going to play out. What I've seen already, I really like. I think I'll be able to latch on to his character more than I have latched on to Riley.

MFCSI, thanks for posting that article. Nick more as a teacher, huh? Great that means he can be put in the background more than he already is. There's only one person he could teach and that's Langston, so Nick's presence on screen will be dependent on Langston scenes, but since Catherine is the supervisor and she can teach him, that probably means my poor Nicky will have less scenes. :shifty: So much for any good storylines for Nick this season.

But maybe, just maybe, there'll be hope. Ok, there's a small, very small part of me that thinks this could be good. But lately, I've come to learn that tptb think they know what will make the fans happy, and they don't. Scratch, that, they only make the GSR fans happy. I'm glad they, at least, get what they want, because the rest of us (fans of Nick, Greg, Catherine, etc.) don't! :scream:

There's only one person he could teach and that's Langston

He could also teach Riley some things since she's only a Level 2... unless that task is left up to Greg. But, they're still short handed. I mean there was three who left Sara, Grissom and Warrick (well he didn't leave, but you know...) and they've only gotten two new members (Riley and Langston), so they'll need another one. Whatever happened to Wendy training to be a CSI? Nick could teach her.

^ Well, Sara had already transferred from graveyard to swing even before she left. So I guess the number of the CSIs will be even after Grissom leaves Langston joins.

ETA: Here's another article about Grissom's departure and Langston's arrival. I think it's quite interesting, and I actually laughed at one particular comment. :D

As one star departs 'CSI,' a new quirky leader arrives

(The title bothers me a little, though.)

I was about ready to chew them out for that title till I saw this part:

Matrix star Laurence Fishburne — the guy who will take over Petersen's banner as lead personality on the show

It sounds like they're talking about him taking the lead spot in the credits where Petersen is currently. At least they do say in the article that his character will be surpervised by Catherine. :)

Yeah see, that annoys me. I still think Marg deserves the lead credits, considering she's one of the leads AND has been with the show longer.

I think she more than deserves it.
