Wasn't he in the episode where there was a picture of a girl "dead" and the team was debating about whether or not she was really dead... and it turned out she wasn't at the time the picture was taken, but then was later on, staged the same way as the picture? Seems like that might have been the episode he was in LOL.

Yep, Man Up ep 11 from this last season

Thanks. I sometimes have trouble with ep titles LOL.

Ausiello: She’s definitely leaving towards the end of the season — and I hear she’s going to get quite the send-off.

I swear if they killed Catherine I'll stop watching CSI!!!

From the new TV Guide, which just arrived, issue August 1-14, this article IN THE NEWS~

HOW CSI LANDED DANSON

When CBS and Bruckheimer TV began the hunt for a new CSI star, one name was quickly dismissed:Ted Danson, Danson is one of the leads on HBO's Bored To Death, and booking a regular second job us usually a no-no. So executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Don McGill, were looking for an actor with some comedic chops, approached othe TV vets like Robin Williams, John Lithgow, and Tony Shalhoub. The Danson's reps caught wind of the gig, and started pursing it, and HBO agreed to make it work. As a result, Danson will join the 12th season of CSI this fall as the unit's new graveyard shift supervisor, when his character moves to Vegas from Portland. [Production on the 4th season of Bored To Death, if it's renewed, will begin as soon as CSI wraps]. "This is one of the nice times in the business where people actually help each other out", says one insider. CBS has a one year deal, wth an option for a second, with Danson, who observed a real autopsy in Vegas just days after his casting was announced, adds McGill :"He couldn't be more perfect"

Also heading to the lab: Jorja Fox, who appeared in 14 episodes last season, rejoins the team as a "series regular". One show insider says CSI will feel quite different this year, the first script just came in, there's a noticeable change", he says. "It recaptures the show's whimsy"

TV Guide writer, Michael Schneider~

Thanks DW! :)

Wish they'd tell us the name of Danson's character

At the moment I'm thinking the new change will involve tension with what happened in the finale and I also wonder if TD's character will create some conflict with some characters

Perhaps even new energy with 2 new characters and the show will be a bit lighter with a light hearted character

"Recapture's the show's whimsy"? Why the heck does that mean? LOL.

You welcome sharp me too, on the name I would have thought if anywhere this article would have called it by now, maybe it's Mr. no-name:rommie:

On the word "whimsy" in Websters it describes it as "fanciful idea:whim" I immediately thought of Mary Poppins:alienblush:

I know what whimsy means, but I don't really understand what they mean by recapturing the show's whimsy. Dictionary.com says its also humor (capricious humor or disposition; extravagant, fanciful, or excessively playful expression) or "something quaint or unusual". The show has always had funny or quirky lines in and I can think of many eps that would fit the something quaint and unusual category lol. Although this past was a bit darker than most seasons have been, but I just don't think of it as the show having lost the whimsy LOL.

I agree GNRF always thought of CSI as dark and rather gruesome, and some really vile horrible scenerios. "whimsy", would never be a word I would use pertaining to CSI:confused:

I think in the earlier years the show was more "whimsy" but the last few years it has been darker. Let's face it, the last few years we've only had murder cases pretty much. In the old days you saw a B&E or a fire or other things once in a while. When was the last time there was case that didn't have a death involved?

I think the last one was in Field Mice where Greg and Nick work the case where the cops kept getting sick

Also we didn't have a comedy ep in season 11, plus the Haskell arc was very dark

I was saying that I think the show still has some of its whimsy. I don't think CSI is that dark or that gruesome (maybe an ep here and there), but compared to Criminal Minds, CSI is not dark at all. This past season was darker than other seasons with the whole Haskell thing and then the Dr. Jekyll thing the season before... but I don't understand why in the article they're saying it's lost its whimsy. I never thought it lost it. Some of it, perhaps, but not ALL of it lol.

I think the tone of the show became much more intense with Ray's murder gene mystery and the whole Haskell mess; and certainly the season ended on a very dark note. I think CSI had a somewhat lighter feel to it in the first few seasons and that seemed to change in Season 4, although there has been an occasional light episode and 'whimsical' scenes scattered throughout. I like most of CSI's darker episodes, but Rashomama and Ending Happy are still 2 of my favorites and so much fun to watch. And I do think it's important to separate themselves from the intensity of Criminal Minds. So I'm happy to hear this and I am looking forward to this season. Speaking for myself, I certainly became depressed about the show at the end of last season. Time will tell, but Danson may be just what CSI needs. He is pretty funny on Bored To Death and I'm glad to hear that their shooting schedule is different from CSI.

Does no one in Vegas have an iphone or a camera? We need pics!

Well, this show could do with more whimsy. I always like having the funny episodes here and there.

But this is what pisses me off, as I was watching CSI tonight and been thinking and that is...

I've always loved Brass and now I find it hard to watch him knowing what he's done and I think it's going to be even harder to watch him this season knowing what he did.

I mean, I understand why he did it, but I think what really pisses me off the most is Langston came along and basically destroyed (for lack of a better word) all of their careers - Brass, Catherine, Nick, Sara, Greg, etc.

Again, I understand why Brass did it, I even understand why Langston killed Haskell and lord knows Haskell didn't deserve to live, and it's horrible what his ex went through, but his actions didn't only affect him.

Langston's gone, but I really want to know how they're going to handle Brass' character now. :( I'm pretty convinced that Catherine and Nick will be demoted. Who knows maybe everyone will be. (ok, just had a feeling of deja vu pass through me :shifty: I hate that.)

Just ugh, makes me really want September 21st to come, but then again that would mean summer is over and I don't want summer to end. It's a Catch 22 I tell ya.

And Jtd? Probably people that we don't know and don't label the photos properly. But really, not one person can take a picture? (that's not associated with the show?)

Yeah, I feel the same way. I just don't know why they had Brass do that. Why couldn't they have had Ray pocket the plastic cuffs or trash them or whatever? Why have Brass, who never wanted Haskell in Vegas in the first place, do it? I just don't understand the writers' motivation there. From a character point of view I understand why Brass did it... but I still feel like it was OOC for him. I don't know, the whole thing bugs me LOL.

And I really hope no one gets demoted. I don't really think anyone (aside from Brass) has any fault in all of it. Maybe Cath shouldn't have brought Haskell to Vegas, but IMO she shouldn't have had the authority to do that in the first place. It should have been Brass or the mayor or the undersheriff's call, not the CSI supervisor's call. I don't know why she had the power to make that call... doesn't really make sense to me. But Nick and the rest of the team definitely didn't do anything to get demoted. I don't think its right to penalize all of them for Ray's and Brass' mistakes (even though no one will ever know about what Brass did aside from Ray... I'm sure Brass will never tell the team and I doubt Ray would).

I think Catherine may step down on her own. I think she's someone who might blame herself for what Ray did because of some of her choices in catering to Ray's ideas or whatever. I think she'll take one for the team and just say she'll step down as supervisor or something. I mean, I wanted her to stay supervisor until she left the show, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen now... so I'd prefer it to be Catherine's decision to step down rather than a demotion.
