Season 12 Spoiler Lab Discussion

I'm curious. What level of GSR would be considered acceptable should Petersen return for Marg's finale? Obviously since they are married Grissom would be expected to interact at least once with Sara. I doubt that any of the actors would be happy with a GSR love fest though. Petersen in particular would probably want the focus to be on Catherine and her exit.

Exactly. And truthfully there has never been a GSR love fest on the show. With the fans maybe but not displayed on the show. But it's no more an obsession than any other with CSI...kinda like all things Nick...

What I hope is that Catherine gets her moment with each character like Grissom did. They didn't do that with Sara and really couldn't with Warrick even though they had that dinner right before he was killed.

I was away for four days and man did I come back to a lot!

This will be repetitive BUT I 100% agree with the fact that Marg's exit NEEDS to focus on Catherine. I'm ecstatic WP's coming back for her but it won't be right if it's centered around Gil/GSR (though I'm guilty of being a GSR fan...).

I'm looking forward to this season having more humor! :) Last season was so dark and gloomy with little jokes. Now they're talking about more than one case per episode! Yes!

Oh and the pig HAS to stay with the veterans. No ifs ands or buts!

I think the episode has to focus on Catherine, but I'm sure the writers will find a balance.:)

They showed RDH on Showbiz Tonight on HLN tonight and he was talking about Danson joining the show. He said Danson's character solves crimes in a very unique, unusual or intersting way (can't remember which word he used lol), but he didn't want to spoil it, so that was all he could say.

Perhaps he solves crimes through the medium of interpretive dance....

p.s maybe the pig moves because DB's a vegetarian/vegan (you know following this whole hippy stereotype) OR Nick returns the pig to Catherine as a 'sorry you got demoted' gesture.

On the GSR thing maybe they'll mix the GSR into a team scene so it won't feel so in your face?

Season 7 was one long GSR fest. Grissom worked nearly every case with just Sara. All because they were together and CM and Rambo loved those two together.

I think Catherine will get her moment with every character.

Why automatically assume 'Gil cooking dinner for Sara' is in anyway related to Catherines exit? It sounded to me like CM was just chatting about a general conversation she had with WP.

Interesting how it generally seems to be the anti GSR brigade who like to bring GSR into every situation and have turned this from a convo about Catherine to one about Gil/Sara:rolleyes:

Because it's relevant and we don't want Catherine's exit overshadowed by GSR.

WP/Gil coming back + Jorja/Sara on the show + the characters are married = GSR being part of it.

Oh and 'every situation' is an over exaggeration, don't you think?

You said it, Gil/Sara are part of it. Whether one likes it or not.

Yep, you're right, it is an exaggeration but then so is getting upset over something that currently only exists in a few overactive imaginations.

That was my take on it.

I agree with this. I think even if there were a scene during Catherine's exit that featured Grissom and Sara, it would be brief, and would be a way of linking Grissom with Catherine. Say, Sara tells Grissom that tomorrow is Catherine's last day, and he needs to show up to say goodbye. It makes sense to me. We have two main characters who are married (even if one of the main characters is mostly absent nowadays). So of course it would make sense to show them together somehow. Anything else would seem a bit odd.

I'm inclined to believe that any Gil/Sara scenes will be weaved into the theme of this new 'lighter' season. I doubt Billy or Jorja would agree to anything that might 'overshadow' Marg's exit. It seems that WP's attitude is more playful regarding GSR and they may not want any further angst or drama, which is fine by me.
McGill said at the TCA's, regarding D.B.: "Here's this character who has things really in balance: family, work, job, life. And I think that's sort of the key right now for us". In that light, I think we will have some Catherine and Lindsey and Lilly scenes, maybe some Catherine and Vartann, and hopefully some peeks into the other characters' off-work lives, including Grissom and Sara, Nick and whoever, maybe even Greg and someone. All of them wanting that same balance that D.B. seems to have. I doubt we will have a Shangi-La, but I think the tone could be more playful between the characters. I'm really hoping for some banter and flirting between Greg and Morgan; she seems so much like Sara was in the early seasons.

Sara had 7 episodes to exit, Grissom had 10, and Catherine has 12. That's more than enough episodes to write her a good departure. Unlike Sara and Grissom, her character doesn't need a breakdown in order to change and move on; just come to a realization that life is short, family is most important, and there are better (and less stressful) ways to balance work and family. If she is like most of us working mothers she has some maternal guilt about the time she didn't spend with Lindsey while she was busy working. Even though Lindsey is older now, daughters can always use their mothers' guidance and support; maybe even more so as they get older. It's a good time to 'make amends' when both parties are mature enough to examine their lives and chart their futures.

Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I feel good about this season. And yes, I admit freely and unabashedly, that even a hint of GSR helps. :)

Does anyone think that Catherine would be interested in teaching a class related to Forensics? I'm just wondering what she could do (besides the casino related thing) when she leaves the lab.

This part of the Spoiler Lab is now closed. Part 2 can be found here. Please continue discussing and having fun in the new thread! :)
