"Say Uncle" Discussion *SPOILERS*

A couple of details drove me crazy...where was Nick's brown wrist band and why was he wearing a tennis thingie around his wrist and he lost that ring a couple of times too(when he is talking to the group about finding the bag and then he has it when he enters the house but still has that disgusting tennis thingie still on his wrist)....which if you watch he is never without that brown bracelet with the star and the ring is just a part of Nick.

Hodges got him some work shoes I see...guess if he is going to have to work out in the field then he needed some shoes!

And Riley is a CSI 2 so why is she acting like she is in charge and I feel she is very disrespectful to any authority...she almost got Nick shot running her mouth...he was trying to diffuse the situation and Riley was threatening bodily harm to the little old lady, not allowing Nick the opportunity to calm the situation down and not letting Nick do his thing...she is going to get him hurt!

Also I did notice that Wendy is sporting a brand new wrist band (similar to Nick's) on her left wrist....hmmmmmmmmmm.....what's that about???? Maybe that is why Nick stopped wearing his or George was somewhere else when he got the call to come to work and could not get back home to get it in time for the filming of this scene....where were you Georgie???????

And I bet we will see that shirt underneath his lab coat in the next episode....seems as if this scene was put in just to fill some air time because it really didn't make sense...Nick recovered the white shirt from the trash can...he knew all that stuff already.....and to make me just want to go over to him and shake him really good he touches the blood stained shirt and then he scratches his nose (The mother was HIV Nick!!! As a nurse I just want to let you know that was not a smart thing to do!!!!!)

I am really missing Nick and Catherine...seems as if they have been moved to the back burner so the newbie can shine but at least they are showing Greg more....but I am a Nick fan so I need more Nick !!!!!!:)

I thought last night's episode was pretty good if a bit depressing. I can see the decline of Grissom really starting to show though. Him saying that he doesn't even know what he is was quite telling.

Nick looked a bit ticked that the Granny pointed the gun at him. Not scared just calm and collected. He has had a gun pointed at him quite a few times though...

Riley needs to get her head straightened out though... First she almost gets Nick shot by being antagonistic towards Granny THEN she interrogated the child without a guardian being present. Not only that she was rude to Grissom about it. I like her BUT she has a little too much attitude going on right now.:shifty:

It would have been nice to see more Nick and Catherine, but I figure that's coming later this season. :)

NEXT WEEK: The Miniature Killer Returns!! Should be good!

okay i just watched the ep and it was great. the case was very intriguing despite the lack of originality of the crime itself. it just shows that you don't have to go Lecter on every victim to make a fascinating case.

the episode reminded me of Friends and Lovers. i noticed CSI likes to revisit certain schemes they set early up in their run. but now it seems like in every ep TPTB gives Grissom a new case that deals with things he can't stand to wore him out and justiy his exit. i'm glad they at least didn't overdo it in Say Uncle. the Grissom we saw wasn't that much different from what we observed in Friends and Lovers.

all in all, a great episode that included science, had a lot of twists and turns, let the viewer make up their own theories but still manage to have a surprising ending. there could've been a bit more science but, in the end, this ep was all i like in CSI. it's been a while since i was this satisfied with a case. 10/10

and btw, interesting to see the murderer from Primum Non Nocere as a bad doctor again. oh and Patrick Labyorteaux from JAG! not to mention James Lee (Ando) from Heroes. ;)

Also I did notice that Wendy is sporting a brand new wrist band (similar to Nick's) on her left wrist....hmmmmmmmmmm.....what's that about???? ?

OMG I forgot to mention that! I saw that to and thought the exact samething! I was like..HEY what a second that looks a lot like Nick's wrist band!!! Maybe they shop at the same place for wrists bands

YES!!

Other people agree with me on Riley's attitude! *WOO HOO*

I didn't notice the wristband thing; WHAT THE CRAP IS GOING ON HERE!?!??! AHHHH!!!
I also didn't notice that Cath disappeared along with Greg...eesh...what did they ever do? Oh, it's probably to give miss anti authority RILEY *uurg* some more air time...yuck. Seriously, don't do it at Cath or Greggo's expense..we like them.

I think this has got to be the most controversial episode so far, yes? (That was SO Ziva ;p)

In my opinion the best thing about last night is that Grissom seemed more himself than he has for more than a season. He worked with his team instead of basically ignoring his team.

The worst thing about last night is the fact that every week at least 2 main characters seem to get pushed to the background. I don't watch this show for Riley. I think it would have been better if her character had never been thought of. There is no reason to bring in a new character when the writers can't write a script with equal screen time for all main characters that are currently there. (As you may be able to tell constant Riley has worn thin on me - I got tired of her attitude very quickly.)

I can't say much about anything specific in last nights episode because I fell asleep a half hour after it ended and couldn't remember it this morning. That's not good! :(

The doppelganger crime lab was pretty funny too.

I loved that, too. The CSIs looked so jealous!

I also liked the scene with Riley, Nick and Gun-toting Grandma. Riley seemed a little freaked while Nick was cool as a cucumber. I guess CSIs don't have guns drawn on them all that much back in St. Louis if Riley's reaction was any indication.
Given St Louis' crime rate, I really doubt that's the reason. I think it's another attempt (like last week's "Uncle Nick" scene with Greg and Riley re the suitcase of sex toys) by TPTB to make Nick suddenly so much older than the others. Or perhaps he has become emotionally older due to Warrick's sudden death.
I wasn't 100% sure that the kid shot the mom. At least not at first. I thought it might be possible that she was on the ground and someone who was standing near her feet could have shot her, execution style.

This was the weakest part of the epi, IMO; Gris and Cath have quoted Occam's Razor a couple times in the past, so why not go with the most logical. Instead of trying to contort people's position, think "who in the vicinity could have fired from that angle?" and the kid immediately comes to mind.

I really felt bad for the kid. The loss of his uncle, the only person who seemed to genuinely care for him, was tragic. And let's not forget the whole "being used as a guinea pig" extravaganza.

One more in a long line of depressing episodes. The viewers are all going to have to start taking Prozac every Thursday night if this keeps up.

Agree completely. Why is it so easy to say an adult will be credited with temporarily being of unsound mind; obviously the kid was, so he may have to live with it, but not in jail. And Grissom's comment about wishing he'd never solved it - "B" movie-ish. Why is he so surprised? Kids killing their adult tormentors is not that rare.

i don't really like Riley very much either but i think she brings some interesting qualities to the show that we haven't seen from other characters yet. she is a good addition. i think she needs some more time in the begining basically to establish her character.

btw, i really think that it's the worst idea ever to equal screen time for all characters. i mean, that would be sooo forced. Nicky just got 2 minutes, so now it's Greg's turn, and then Catherine has to have exactly the same amount of time. oh boy, if that was the case the show would go of the air in a second. it would be very ... socialistic. you give more screen time to those characters who it's better to do so and not b/c everyone is entitled to 2 minutes of only their face on the screen.

I like Riley. It's a different dynamic that she challenges Grissom's theories. I really like that about her. But, I think the show's writers are trying way too hard to make her the anti Mary Sue. So, they are giving her all of these faults so that no one will think she's the perfect little Mary Sue. And I dunno, it just seems kind of forced.

As for her scene with Nick and gun toting old lady, I think that Riley was just scared/freaked out and she just flipped.

And about Nicky's wrist band, looks like one of those sweat soaking bands people wear. Maybe he'd been to the gym right before work and forgot to take it off.

I really liked this episode, different and many twists and turns. The writers always keep this show so fresh and new. A very tragic story. Park the poor kid had no real chance in life, and drug-soaked mom and dad who died of AIDS and him being HIV positive. Only his uncle seemed to care, and the horrible doctor shooting him full of drugs to please the pharmaceutical companies:( Nick was great a good leader, and the Hodges incident [he's as annoying as usual] and when him and Riley were confronted by the Korean and BTW all the Korean actors were great in this...women with the gun., Nick stayed cool, and calm "she understands" and Riley did go ballistic, but I would too, and would probably run as fast as I could. She's still new at this. I remember when she first appeared on the show as a newbie, "oh she's so fresh and so great" blah-blah-blah, and not moody like Sara:rolleyes:, and here we are in only the 4th ep. and fans are already griping about her. I predicted that would occur. I didn't become enamored, and admire and love the character Sara. probably till S/4 not ep.4..she's OK, and just doing her job.. she's friggin' new.. give her some time:confused: And Greg was great, he's so serious now, I miss his spiky streaked hair and his quirky sense of fun.. Brass as always brought a bit of humor to the scene >To the guy in the store, who was questioning him Brass" Hey, you didn't tell me this was going to be a quiz" and Grissom & Riley only had like two scenes together and he seems a bit frosty to her, and still came out with the right scenerio, the kid shot his own mom which in a way was understandable, but so sad, and Grissom was right as usual and she wasn't:eek: Gawd, he's amazing, the perfect mannerisms, the delivery of his dialogue, so precise, he's an incredible actor, no one like him..ever.. and his always killer expressions, so damn handsome still, he takes my breath away. He's exceptional... His concern for Park, sitting by his room, and confronting the doctor, 'I'll charge you with child endangerment" if you go in there. and so soft and tender with him. the end so bewildered and disillusioned Grissom saying to Brass "I'm sorry we solved this, I really am" :(

I think anyone and everyone involved with CSI should get on here and read this discussion...we are da BOMB! This is like, the treasure chest of fan input! I'm SO bragging for us, but seriously, this is really objective stuff; like we're not excusing everyone just cos we love them all the time...by that I mean we're not leaving criticism out for any one character, no matter how much we LOOOOOVE them ;p

I love hearing everyone's thoughts! Keep it up!

And desertwind your description of Gil in 9x6 was ingenius...you were drooling too, admit it! :)

We'd like to think they were listening to us-we are the hardcore fans and CSIFiles was listed in a major magazine as one of the best websites around (sorry I can't remember which one-maybe a mod could help).

But it would be nice to know if they in fact listened to us.

The storyline itself was tragic. I felt for the kid. The only way out of his hell was to kill his mother. That's very sad. Made me hug my own kid pretty tightly.

But that's what drug addiction does to people-they lose sight of all that is important to them-even their kids.

Grissom and Riley were both wrong, weren't they? I think one of them thought Jin shot both mom and uncle and the other thought the uncle and mom shot each other. So, they were actually both wrong. Well, I guess whoever thought they shot each other was actually half right cause the mom shot the uncle. But, I don't think either one of them could have even fathomed that it would turn out that the boy shot the mom.

But, when they were both wrong, I thought back to Catherine's comment in "Drops Out" where she said "I like it when the king gets it wrong" meaning Grissom. Then she said, "keeps him human".

Forgot to mention, the scene with Hodges was funny. He kind of cracked that part of the case basically by finding the bag, he lead them to where the kid was. I did think though that when he asked to see Nick that there would be something really gross (like a body) in the trash bag by Hodges expression.

Oh and also, it seemed like Grissom was back to his old self in this episode.

I think Riley is turning in to a Mary Sue. She comes in, quirky...tough no nonsense lady..gonna show you how it's done. She's in way too many scenes. Knows it all, and has been (not quite so this week) solving the crimes. I liked her at first, but the writers are trying Tooooo hard to make us like her.

Give us all a break. Don't make us hate the Riley Character. I used to watch a show called Invisible Man. They brought on a female character that acted a lot like Riley. It wasn't good for the show.

I thought this was a good case, loved all the Greg time, hated the lack of Nicky time and was frustrated with all the Riley time.

The Alternate Reality Crime Lab was really great.
