No you didn't. Like the saying goes, (probably going to mess it up) "You learn something new everyday."

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Damn. Looks like Zap2it was right. 21.9 million. Up from last week, and has a chance of beating the two week's prior. For anyone curious, Grey's got 12.6, which is about about 4.5 million from their usual numbers.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

CSI remains the #1 scripted show on TV for another week.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I think after the final results come in next week, hopefully CSI will raise up a million (if lucky), Lab Rats would go down as one of the highest rated episodes of the season.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

This is where I think it's getting weird. LabRats was good, I loved it. However, now they are having a repeat next week, so "causual" viewers will probably forget it's on (Well, the ones that aren't CSI fans..) and not tune into Ending Happy.. I don't know, guess we will see.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Well they are replaying Post Mortem, the third lowest rated episode of the season, and it does involve the Mini Killer, maybe it won't be so bad.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I think that at this point we kind of have to be happy with the ratings we have. For whatever reason, people aren't taking a chance on this great season. *shrug* It's their loss. I think perhaps adding the college students may have spread the ratings around a little thinner, but ultimately they still won the night by a hefty margin, and these are basically the same numbers that GA was getting without CSI. It's going to be a level playingfield. It'll be interesting to see what numbers Grey's gets next week, because after that it's all head-to-head until summer.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

i don't understtand why ratings are such a big issue in the USA can anyone enlighten me on the issue :)

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Well the ratings determine how popular the show is. If they are getting really low ratings, it means viewers aren't tuning in, and it's just costing the company money.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Thanks gsrLOVE :D
sorry for asking such a stupid question but it's just that here in the UK no one really makes a fuss about the ratings
maybe it's because most of the USA dramas (CSI, CSI:MIAMI, CSI:NY, GREY'S ANATOMY, PRISON BREAK, HOUSE, SHARK AND CRIMINAL MINDS) are all shown on the same channel but thanks for clearing that up for me

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

ratings also determine how much money the network can charge for commercial time. so its just fun for us, but a big deal to them.

ive noticed in the last few weeks entertainment tonight hasnt shown features for csi, now they do greys. i thought it was kind of funny, since entertainment tonight is on cbs and all. wonder why they gave up doing segments for csi? and i dont watch the early show but they used to do segments every thursday too. i wonder if that has anything to do with the lull in ratings. they seemed to have stopped caring, commercials are one thing but the interviews and segments were something special.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Perhaps they are seeing this year how many viewers they can grab without all that Promotion? I was thinking about that yesterday while watching ET, and I saw Grey's. I almost felt like writing in a letter/Email telling them to do some segments on CSI

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I think it's simply because the perception is that the younger crowd still watches Grey's more than CSI. Even if they get the same audience numbers, the age of the viewers is still important. They view those in the 18-49 crowd as having disposable income, and therefore the most valuable to advertisers.

As far as ET goes... I dunno. Again, they're a business too, and they want to show what sells. The fact is that CSI was never that kind of show. Yeah, they did interviews now and then, but it's not like with GA. People don't run up to each other in the hall and go, "OMGZ did you see Greg swab that semen stain??!!" "I know - and Warrick looked under the microscope!"

When CSI does personal storylines, sure, but not for their average episodes. There's more "gossip" for an average episode of GA.

Unfortunately, the gossip right now is, "This sucks". heh.

Staying under the radar publicity wise has probably been very, very important for CSI. Not having its stars run around and be featured in US Weekly, not having their every episode picked apart... it allows them to stay very big, but at the same time not kind of fall with the actions of one star (such as Isaiah Washington) or be trashed for a bad episode (though it sounds, at the moment, like all GA's episodes are being trashed).

CSI is the big silent winner.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I find it funny that after all of that talk of CSI potentially "changing" to compete with Grey's Anatomy with its relationship storyline, Grey's Anatomy then went on to develop a storyline about a tough, sometimes hard-edged female character having once had an affair with her college professor who will now be her boss. Hmmm...

that type of storyline is the biggest chiche for tv and movies...that is one of the reasons it is kind of dumb for csi to go that route, it is supposed to be a different type of show...
