judging by the reaction at the official message board, there are a lot of angry fans!

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

From TV Guide online:

Another competitive Thursday in ratings. Take note:

Drawing 21.89 million, Grey's Anatomy edged out CSI (21.28 mil) in the rivals' first legitimate head-to-head in ages.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Well I'm not particularly disappointed by those numbers.

Thank you so much for posting them, btw.

But yeah - they're SO damned close, and I think CSI is a little more impressive considering that Grey's got awards this week (should've boosted ratings), they got HUGE publicity because of TR and Isaiah, and they did a To Be Continued at the end of their last episode.

CSI really didn't pull any tricks, in fact it did something that they knew would damage ratings - they sent off their lead (and arguably most popular) character for four weeks.

So I'm far from disappointed. I believe Miss Dee and I are currently sharing the honors for the poll, so maybe we should wait for final numbers to make the difference, as they can shift by sometimes up to about 800,000 viewers.

I'll do a bit of an early numbers catch-up:

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

The episode in which Grissom comes back will probably be the highest ratings to date this season. Anyone else notice that when CBS actually advertises the episodes the ratings skyrocket. The two most advertised episodes of the season were "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Happenstance" and those are among the highest of the year.

One major thing I'd like to point out is that the Super Bowl is on CBS this year, and CBS is pulling a bonehead move of not playing a new CSI that week which could easily be advertised on the biggest stage of the year. The Super Bowl is on Feb 4 and there is no new CSI scheduled until Feb. 15. If you want to blame anyone for the ratings drop this season, blame CBS.

What? I didn't win this time? *kicks time machine* must be broken. just kidding.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Didn't they JUST show Fannysmackin' last week?

I mean they did a two-parter on Thursday - what was the one at 8?

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

Thought I'd tack this on. It's the changes in Season 6.

Premiere of Season 6 - 29.02 million
Episod 2 - 28.00 million - 3.5% drop
Episode 3 - 28.85 million - 2.9% gain
Episode 4 - 28.34 million - 1.8% drop
Episode 5 - 28.48 million - 0.5% gain
Episode 6 - 28.73 million - 0.9% gain
Episode 7 - 29.55 million - 2.8% gain
Episode 8 - 28.98 million - 1.9% drop
Episode 9 - 25.72 million - 11.2% drop
Episode 10 - 30.945 million - 16.9% gain
Episode 11 - 27.233 million - 12% drop
Episode 12 - 27.128 million - 0.4% drop

The average change is: 0.57% drop, meaning that while it had lower ratings, Season 7's average percentage drop (0.333%) was lower than season 6's.

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I'm going to guess that Isaiah's actions will have turned some people off, and Liev will have comforted a lot of worries about Grissom leaving draining the show, so I'll say CSI will get a slight increase.

sarahvma: 21.9 million

Re: CSI Ratings versus Grey's Anatomy

I say 25.2 mil. I'm being positive again (again? I was never positive in the first place ). Total shot in the dark.
