Life on Mars

Just thought I would 'bump' this thread to let you know that the second series of Life on Mars starts on the BBC on the 13th February.

I have just seen the trailer for it, and it looks fantastic. I'm sure anyone who has seen the first series will agree that this is a brilliant show! :) How can you not love Sam and Gene?

Looks like this thread has been inactive for months, and the show is over and all... but I wanted to pop in and share my love for Life On Mars too!

I found it really entertaining to have a cop show that was different from all the other cop shows on TV, that had something unique to offer.

One of my favourite episodes was the one with the Camberwick Green opening. Little stop-motion puppet Sam was so funny and cute. And stop-motion Gene 'beating a nonce.'

I was happy with the way the show ended. Couldn't have thought of a better way for it to wrap up. :)

Heh yes, I loved that bit! Never heard of Camberwick Green, but I could guess what it was all about. Poor puppet Sam!
BTW, has all of season 2 aired in the USA yet?

Actually, Series 1 of Life on Mars was shown on BBC America during summer of 2006--I got hooked. However, they have yet to show series 2 and I really want to know what happened to Sam Tyler without being spoiled. If anyone knows when BBC America will show Series 2, please PM me!!!

I cannot help with airing dates of Series 2 in the states. Are you able to get the DVDs? It would a be a worthy investment. I think Gene Hunt is fab!

And they have started filming the spin off show :) but I am not sure where that is on here in UK. But cannot wait for that.

I haven't seen the DVDs for sale anywhere in the US in a format that will run on a Region 1 DVD plaer. If you know where I could acquire them, I'd greatly appreciate it...

Sorry Hankster, I just assumed that the dvds were available in the US. It was mean of them to show the first series but not the second!! Especially given the premise of the show.... what happened to Sam? They have bought out a book The Rules of Modern Policing - 1973 Edition: Life on Mars - DCI Gene Hunt. It looks really funny so I have ordered a copy for my hubby for Xmas.

Oh, I watched this series, well, I confess not all the eps and they're only 16...
It was a great series, so amazing to see how forensic science has develop these last years, it was so hilarious when Sam mentioned something "csi" and they looked at him as an alien, lol

But I didn't like the finale of the series, I expected something different.

WOW, a great new drama, I taped it the other night and finally watched it, Jason O'Meara:drool: what a fox, so handsome and sexy. I had seen him on "The Closer" and at the time thought he'd be a great replacement for Billly Petersen and posted that, and here he's got his own show. It took place, in New York, and he went back to a time warp 1973, the visual effects and special visual ,cars, furniture B/W TV and even "The Who" songs lord they're old, from that period were great & amazing so 70's and they did things so different. Harvey Keitel as the bad ass cop surpervisor, a real hard nose. And no DNA to speak of, no updated forensics, so dark ages next to now. He had to find this rapist who was a real freak show, and he did, Lisa Bonet from the old Cosby show, had a small role and the girl cop from that time period was Gretchen Mol also good.. so I think I'll catch this one again, did anyone else see it?

Yes, I watched it. And Frankenstein, desertwind is talking about the new US version (2008), based on the British version (2006-2007) mentioned earlier in this thread. Seems like a Quantum Leap or that series last year when some reporter kept going back in time.
