Life on Mars

I know--season ender on Monday.

I finally saw this ep yesterday (thank you, DVR!) and was truly surprised that the Superintendant that had insisted on an above-board investigation destroyed the tape. His remarks "What did you expect Tyler? The world to come crashing down?" I get the feeling the Superintendant represents a blood clot or something like that--the one that's preventing him from regaining consciousness.

I like your clot analogy better than my biblical references.

Incidentally, I'm assured by BBC America that we will be watching next year. I got rambunctious and emailed.

Great finale. Can't wait til next year. Hunt's light-hearted sarcasm keeps it from ever getting too serious - even when he's at gunpoint (I thought Sam would be spending next season in prison). Well, maybe he's the Jean/Gene Genie instead of a battling archangel.

And at least Sam read Alice in Wonderland - even though the patent leather shoes didn't belong to her (but to himself?). Young Sam's voice sounds suspiciously like the TV blonde girl.

Getting psychoanalytical, Sam's only memory of Annie seems to be the kicking incident, she's pretty and tried to reason with Vic - then she becomes the embodiment of all that is good and he becomes a policeman.

Well, he's sorted out that he blocked out this memory and it explained what happened to his dad. And in the real world, his body is responding. I'm just wondering how much longer he's going to be stuck here. That part is frustrating.

Incidentally, Sam's leather coat and black pants outfit reminds me a bit of Christopher Eccleston's Dr. Who outfit! LOL!!!! :D

He does remind me a bit of that The Doctor.

It appears they're going to have one more season which is already filmed and a two-part special as a finale. I guess they don't want to wear out a good thing. <sniff>

I also saw that they're planning a US version but just don't think this would translate as well as a CSI: London or Manchester but will try to stay open-minded.

Maybe they'll call it Panama like my old self-published comic book! Two reasons for the title--before the main character went into a coma, he was hearing the song "Panama" by Van Halen, and his alter-ego wears a large Panama hat that obscures his eyes and makes him impossible to ID.

Hankster, Boston Legal/Ally McBeal's David Kelly has the rights to the show so mail him the comic book now before he gets too far ahead. He's hired the executive producers of the original and we can only pray that it stays even partly as good as the original but who could possibly play Sam and Hunt to such perfection.

Bravo scores 'Life On Mars' repeats
Thursday, August 3 2006, 02:20 BST - by Neil Wilkes

Bravo has won a fierce bidding war for the secondary rights to cult drama Life On Mars.

The show stars John Simm as Sam Tyler, a young detective who wakes up in '70s Britain after being knocked down in a car accident. The first series drew over 7 million viewers to BBC One earlier this year.

Life on Mars is the stand out drama series of 2006," said Jonathan Webb, Bravo's director of programmes. "It's a fantastic show – full of warmth and with great on screen chemistry."

Bravo plans to re-run the series in the Autumn, in advance of the second series airing on BBC One next January.

A US version of the show is also in development for ABC.

I totally adored this show. Love John Simm. Cant wait for the second series. Should really buy the DVD of the first. It always throws me how different it was in the 70's. I mean it wasn't that long ago really and the changes are unbelievable. Even things like Ambulances not carrying any medical equipment or medicine!

I wonder if next season they'll do a Full Monty Episode having all the ugly detectives do a strip show for some charity! Of course, they'll have to obscure the naughty bits like they did in the Drew Carey version.

ROFLMAO!!!

EWwwww dont pollute my head with such things hahaha
It will be great to have it all explained finally but then as soon as they do that it's the end of the show really,
Goota love the 70's clothes.

Thanks fort that Pilgrim, Will pop in and have a look. As long as I'm allowed to go all silly girlie over John Simm now and then! ;)

Cant wait for the second series!

Astrid, I know for a fact that the posters there like Sam.

Yes, I wish they'd rethink the decision to close with the next season and a two-part special.

i LOVED this show! i've got all the episodes on my compy and it became my "Rainy Sunday Morning" tv viewing, although... now that the compy's in the shop... I'm kinda worried they'll no longer be there when I get it back! I just found completely and utterly fascinating to watch! (and I LOVE watching Sam and Gene butt heads, but still work forward). When I read a review calling it "Doctor Who meets Hill Street Blues" I was soooo totally in!

I thought they did an amazing job with the season finale... tying in all those flashes to Sam's memory recall to what was happening in 1973, and the characters that we came to care about. I'm excited, and curious, to see where they take it next!

I'll be sad once it's done!
