All things being relative>>> on Saturday the Rolling Stones played mainland China--Shanghi, specifically--for the first time, and the top ticket price was $374. That's lower than the $472.50 top price the Stones commanded at the MGM Grand in November, but $374 is roughly the equivalent of three months wages for most Chinese :(

Do you want to know a scret? Hundreds of U.S. mayors will get the first peeks at Cirque du Soleil's highly anticipated collaboration with The Beatles. The elected honchos are among the VIPs invited to previews during the annual U.S. conference of Mayors which will be here June 2-6---A late June premier is planned for the show at The Mirage. Rumors abound that the 2,000-seat-venue, formerly the Siegfried & Roy Theatre will be a reconfigured in-the-round setting a la "Le Reve" at Wynn Las Vegas. The 60-cast members, a typical Cirque collection of acrobatic performers from all corners of the world, are in rehearsals, getting comfortable with the stage. Mirage execs. aren't commenting on the name of the theatrical production, but "Yellow Submarine" and 'Revolution" top the rumor list. There's speculation that with "The Phantom of the Opera" opening June 24 at the Venetian the Cirque-beatles show will premiers the next week

Young Las Vegas

Living in modern Las Vegas almost easy. Seventy-five years ago, it was anything but easy. Most families didn't have air conditioning and people lucky enough to have jobs worked in blistering broad daylight. Modern Las vegas was conceived in 1931, when Nevada liberalized it's divorce and gambling laws and transformed itself into Ameirca's playground for grownups. It was the year an unprecedented engineering project began, the dam that would tame the wild Colorado River and create a reservoir that waters not only California vegetables, but also Las Vegas suburbs. But from 1905 to 1931, Las Vegas made their own swamp coolers, thier own entertainment, and sometimes their own whiskey. The author enlisted older Las Vegans to help capture the memories of a "Mohave Mayberry" wher neighbors took care of each other, not merely because nobody else would, but because it was their hometown, and they cared--- ;) to order

Another day another drama in the soap opera of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. The on-again -off- again couple apparently had a blowup before he sang two new songs from his new CD "Playing With Fire" at Pure nightclub Friday!! Earlier Spears left Nero's restuarant in tears, spies said, and she was a no-show on the red carpet at Pure. The word I'm hearing is that Federline didn't want her overshadowing him on his debut, where two dozen camera crews waited. She went back to their suite while he joined family and friends>>>>>>>>>>>> Pamela Anderson informing the groundbreaking crowd at Panorama Towers that photographer David LaChapelle will design her new apartment, which will feature two stripper poles  attending were Steve Wynn-Ryan Seacrest-Mickey Rouke Rick and Kathy Hilton>>>>>> Anderson later showed up at Cherry nightclub and were joined by owner Rande Gerber and wife Cindy Crawford

'The greatest creator of spectacle" according to stein, launched a Las Vegas comeback in 1989 with the Nirage the catalyst behind a sweeping building boom. Stein added that when people study the U.S. empire in the next millenium "they won't be looking at buildings created by Frank Lloyd Wright, they'll be looking at our temples of pleasure. The buildings where we packed in as much America as would fit, and somehow Steve Wynn has done it in a we won't be ashamed of. Yeah, I think I'm actually going to die because I hate the heat. ;)

Well, I'm going to LA and then San Diego. Then we're going to Las Vegas and staying in the Bellagio (*squee*) then we're going to do a day trip to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, then back to Vegas and then a road trip through California to San Francisco and then all the way back to LA.

Have to say, probably looking forward to the Las Vegas part the most! I may just stare out the window all night!

I think I'm going to have some serious issues with the heat though.

........ ever thought about making a list of all the locations in Vegas shown in CSI? :D
