Gil <3 Cath #24: Kissing Her Doesn't Require a Pay Raise

I'm way more than fashionably late for the new thread at this point but I have to throw in yay! for #24 :D
I know I should be boycotting along with Coolc, especially since I’m the lemming, but I don't have that kind of willpower so I'm looking forward to what snippet of GC that tmtb will give us tonight. :)

Why rebec, good job! I just have to hand you some hotdogs. :D *waves* Hey WP! *hugs* TPTB really should have a look at Gil's timeline made by KiraGrissom, shoudh't they? That way they'd have a much better idea when what happened in his life. Meh. You havne't seen the first two episode? Then I'd say you didn't miss much since you aren't a Cath fanatic like me. :D

And lookie who's back! Ali! *pounces* You've been missed here, a lot. Don't hide yourself anymore. ;)

Now, about Boom. There isn't much PureJoy to talk about case-wise, but there are a few little C/G scenes I just love so much. For example,

GRISSOM: Well, we know the propellant. So would you care to make a preliminary call on this?

CATHERINE: I'd love to... Seat of the bomb is here. Victim was thrown... three meters. His clothes are torn but not burnt, indicating a low-velocity propellant -- 6,000-7,000 feet per second. Who? Why? Will he do it again? Time will tell.
Again, Gil knows what Cath is thinking about without asking her and is happy to let her "make a preliminary call". Apparently he agrees with her, or he wouldn't ask her to make the speech. The quote rebec posted is cute. You see, Catherine is always the buffer between Gil and Ecklie. More precisely, she is his door to the outside world. I also love their conversation about Nick's sperms. It was funny. :D

Boom was a nice little episode.
I believe TPTB said somewhere that, among all of the CSIs, Cath was to be the expert on bombs, which is why Gil let her take the lead on calling the synopsis at the beginning. I believe it's also a reason that she had to fill Sara & the others in on the things that Gil left out when they first arrived.
I like how Cath arrived in Gil's office when he was talking with Nick. She must have gone to seek out the "rumor mill" quite fast after Gil & Nick left a few minutes prior. Then she shows up in his office, and immediately knows what will happen if Gil talks to Ecklie. I believe this is also the first time we see that Ecklie has a crush on Catherine. How many times do you think Cath would give up a case to another CSI without blinking an eye. Ecklie didn't even put up a squack about it when the sheriff gave her control.
Another cute part - Cath goes right to Gil to give him an update when she checks out Nick's "little soldiers". Cute that he wasn't "up to speed on the particulars"!

*Takes hotdogs* I finally got them :D Very generous of you Erica ;)

I love the sperm convo also, they have to talk about sexual topics someway or another even in a scientific discussion  And the fact that cath just jumps into explaining without even letting gil finish off his sentence makes the scene even cuter :D

I noticed that in season one cath often answered gil's requests with "I'd love to". In PMJ when he asked for a truce she said that too, has she said it in the other seasons? I know in recent seasons she hadn't been saying that.

Kay thanks for the info about cath's expertise on bombs :), I only knew that she specialises in blood spatter. So she's the one who stayed on the case? What case did gil handle later in that epi? Was it Nick's case? I hate it when they show GC arriving at a crime scene in the beggining and then separate them later, it's so disappointing, but if it's for Nick then I'm ok with it ;)

Btw, welcome back WP and Ali :D I miss the dancing bananas *hint hint*

Gil continued with the bomb case - specifically, Dominic the security guard.

It was the CSI Companion that mentioned Cath's bomb experience: "Boom also contains a subtle yet significant piece of character development. It's Catherine, not Grissom, who provides most of the forensic exposition about the bomb. An earlier version of the script has her explaining that she'd taken a course with the Feds. 'That was then,' Donahue explains. 'Because we were still new, we felt that if the audience sees this gorgeous woman discussing boms, they're going to go, 'how does she know about bombs?' Now, if Catherine says anything about anything it's 'well, yeah, she'd know that.' Although it had been implied in previous episodes that Catherine was a formidable advocate for her own investigative approach, having her drive the walk-through had the effect of substantiating her as a scientist to be reckoned with."

Oh how I miss the days of Ann Donahue. *sigh*

Thanks for that kay :) It's really informative. Ann really pays attention to the characters and their developments in the show, losing her was a great loss for CSI: LV and GC shippers :(

It was also mentioned before that cath is the only one in the team whose abilities are compatible with gil's. I guess that's what makes them such a great pair, they match up intellectually and character wise they are opposite enough to make up for each other's shortcomings but not so opposite that they are like oil and water. Of course, they also don't have a generation gap :D

rebec you're so right.
prebably that's what makes them a great cuple.
They're so similar on certain things, such as their intelligence, devotion to work, forensic ability...And yet so different in the social field.

I love Boom, but for reasons out of the GC ship...I really loved the whole case.

Re: Gil <3 Cath #24: Kissing Her Doesn't Require a Pa

Boom is a great episode. It's awesome how Cath always has to step in between Gil and Ecklie. If those two have a problem, she know what's going down, and she feels the need to prevent it. I also have to say that this was a really sad episode. When the guy dies at the end, you see the look on Gil's face and you know that he feels responsible. It's one of the few cases that he lets his emotion show on.

^mcdreamy and lady h? that's a crossover one doesn't normally consider *looking at your avi*

oh crap, forgot the caps. i'll go back and get them hottie.

boom...what can i say? it is cath that interprets gil's instructions for the rest of the team. seems some can't understand what he is saying. and i do love her loyalty to nick in this ep.

I'd love to see Lady Heather spank McDreamy. That would be a hot scene, and the doctor certainly deserves it. :D

I'd forget about Catherine knowledge about bombs mentioned in the companion if it weren't for kay. Yes they did say that in the behind-the-scenes bit of Boom. Me loves Ann Donahue. She always knew what was best for Catherine and Gil. Shame she isn't working on the original CSI anymore. Shame shame shame!

Okay here is the convo I mentioned earlier...

CATHERINE: The sperm found in the condom was frozen at 10:15 A.M. It's all heads, no tails.

GRISSOM: I'm not quite up to speed on the particulars of...

CATHEIRNE: It takes about seven hours for bacteria to eat away at the tails placing the time of ejaculation at around 2:00 A.M. But Kristy's time of death was 6:00 A.M.

GRISSOM: Well, it suggests a lag between ejaculation and Kristy's murder but it doesn't disprove Nick's presence at the time of the homicide.

CATHERINE: You could be a little more supportive.
Ain't that just cute? :D

Btw where is CGF? We need our new quote LMAO!

^i guess that means he's a snuggler after sex, lol.

cath really worked her magic on ecklie in this ep. convincing him to give her the extra time needed to clear nicky.

I love the idea, coolc. Imagine Catherine and Gil snuggling together in the afterglow. Awe! Must be really cute. :D Oh although I haven't watched Toe Tags yet, I got this from someone who had...

Doc to Cath: "When was the last time you took a nap in Grissom's tub?"
Oops. Busted?

^that needs a definate answer...perhaps with a visual, don't you think?

so, boom...what did you think about cath's having to interpret for grissom to the rest of the team? she's still doing it in later seasons to the same people. lol.

Oh btw, I've read in the TalkCSI Ep Discussion forum, a lot of people were asking..

Why in Grissom's tub?

Well duh do we really have to explain that? :p They've been taking showers together And oh Ali said you should've seen Catherine's look after that comment. :D
