"Family Affair" Tenth Season Premiere Discussion *SPOILERS*

I don't think Nick is a chauvinist, but just a macho man, and maybe he was raised to think that way. He's always been very respectable of all the women who've crossed his path. However, if he wants a gal to cook dinner for him, and she wants to, she'd get many returns for doing a simple chore that makes him happy:p I'd cook for him, oh wait for Grissom, better not get started on that subject:evil:

As I guy, I can say that what Nick said is similar to what most guys say about a casual, relaxed, comfortable relationship. "Having dinner ready for him", is just a generic saying these days, something that has carried over from the old days. For me, to say that is to basically mean that you have someone waiting at home for you. And I don't mean waiting like the woman has no life. You just have someone to come home to. I wouldn't make too much out of his comment.

As for Sara and Grissom. I would say that the normal standards of marriage and relationship wouldn't apply. Both are highly unique and introverted people. People are saying that Sara shouldn't just leave Grissom like that, especially if they're newlyweds. Given that Grissom is apparently doing some sort of teaching gig and is busy, I don't think he would mind. After all, this is the guy who left on sabbatical and didn't tell his girlfriend he was leaving until the day before. He also didn't send his letter with the cocoon. Yet, although a little frustrated, Sara seemed to understand.

Wow, can't believe I'm discussing GSR.

In this case, however, I would say that we can't look at them and expect the same traditional values we would see from others. THey are both very different and unique.

And that's my two cents. :)

Now I didn't say Nick, or George, was chauvenistic, you two , I said it 'sounds' chauvenistic. I would never think Nick was that way, he's never shown it, but come on there's more important things to know about a girl than whether she can cook or not.

Praetor, you're right and I know that was what he meant. That it's nice to come home to someone and, for Nick, it's about time. Actually, I think they all could use a someone to go home too.

I still think Catherine and Vartann would make a good couple. This coming from someone who doesn't ship anyone.

I think Nick (not unlike most men) has more traditional views of marriage. Whereas, Sara is more nontraditional. That can be construed as being antimarriage. But to me it just means you want to commit to someone, legally as well as emotionally, while maintaining a bit of your independence. They are two very independent people figuring out how to best merge their lives. I think Carol Mendelsohn called their courtship 'unconventional', so we can probably expect the marriage to be unconventional as well.
Besides, it is TV, so you have to work within the contexts of contracts and such. Not to mention, drama.
I think Nick's bug interest can be explained like Natalie's bleach scene in WCS, or Sara's return to being a CSI; it's all part of facing, and conquering, your fears.

ETA: Ooh! Vartann and Catherine, that's a pretty good one.

ETA, again: I'm slow in writing. I just realized I said most of what PraetorCorvinus said.

I can give you that. You could be right about that, but leaving, albeit temporarily, because you're having a hard time adjusting to the marriage is not the way to adjust to it. You won't adjust to it if you're not 'together'.

Now if it was just Sara coming to help and them not having that context that Sara is having a hard time adjusting to the marriage, I'd buy all the explanations. That's just me.

You're right, this is TV and no real people, but I tell ya, sometimes they give me more stress and headaches then the real people in my life.

Speedy, sorry if I was a little preachy . I get a little defensive with Nick sometimes. I usually have to defend him against friends of mine and my brother. One friend does view Nick as being chauvinistic. And my brother called him emo. :wtf:

And Cath and Vartann would be kinda interesting. She deserves a nice guy who understands the job. (I'm involved in a fanfic that has a Sofia/Vartann ship, so I can see him with any sort of strong woman).

And I totally agree that these fake people are more stressful than real life .

No need to apologize to me. :) I agree with what you're saying and, Lord knows, I'll defend Nick every time. He is my favorite character. However, there I times I want to just smack him. Actually, I've wanted to smack all the characters at one time or another.

He's not perfect, but I'll take him! :adore::devil::drool:

I thought I was the only one.
They would be a great couple. ;)

So, I'm interested in seeing all the MEN IN BLACK and why they are in the lab. I'm guessing a body that No one is supposed to know about. :shifty:

Cath/Vartann would be awesome. :D That is, if the writers didn't screw it up someway.

I was thinking more like there was something on the body that no one should know about. Maybe the dead person had some info on the MIB.

You do ship someone. speedystokesgirl/Nick. Right?

Well, the MIB didn't seem to be speaking English. So unless I missed something, I'm not sure that they're actual MIB. They're non-standard-issue MIB. *g*

They are alien-counterpart MIB. Illegal or ET? We'll soon find out...

I was trying to explain the whole baseball being a Grissom thing ... thing :) (Most people know that my 'support' of GSR has only ever been because GSR means more screen time for Jorja, and I like Jorja. I'm shallow that way.)

I'm torn on what I think about Riley's exit interview. On the one hand, I have no issue with her being snide and bitter. I mean, she burnt her yearbooks. She always seemed like a very internally angry woman to me, which is probably why I didn't like her. I don't need MORE 'I'm a CSI because of my crappy past' back stories. That said, she always seemed more like the sort who would tell Catherine to her face that she could go to hell. Obviously it's a re-write because they can't film that scene, but it makes me wonder what happened behind the scenes.

I finally caught up on last season, which I hadn't watched all of since WP left. Wow, it really did get bad fast!

I disagree. I thought some of the episodes were great. I liked Turn, Turn, Turn. George was awesome in that one.

I also like Catherine and Vartann, is he listed in any of the credits, for this new season? onr never knows, they were great together~

From Ausiello:

Question: What’s this I hear about some unexpected surprise coming out in the CSI premiere about Sara? —Encarni
Ausiello:
She got hitched to Grissom when no one was looking. But that’s old news. Here’s some (relatively) new news from exec producer Naren Shankar: “Do not miss the first two-and-a-half minutes of CSI season premiere. It will blow your mind. It may be one of the most incredible things we’ve ever put on film. It’s so beautiful and it’s so cool.”

Question: Any chance Jorja Fox may stick around full-time on CSI? Five episodes isn’t enough. —Brian
Ausiello:
I posed that question to Shankar, and, based on his evasiveness, I would say it’s probably being discussed. “I honestly can’t say [for sure] at this point,” he told me. “All I will say is we’re having a great time and I think Jorja is having a great time. I think she’s having more fun now than she did before. Having a little space from something, you get to clean your palate and be refreshed as an artist.”

Looking forward to the first 2 1/2 minutes!

So I guess the first 2 and a half minutes is going to be the freeze frame thing then? Does that mean that Sara's return will be shown in flashbacks?
