Chapter 42:
“Quinn?” Mac looked at the redheaded woman standing in the door to his office. “What brings you here?”
She smiled, “This.” She pointed at a photograph in a magazine. With the text: “The departed actor Jimmy Sander’ fiancée re-engaged.”
”Congratulations.” She sent him a look saying, ‘what are you thinking’
“You know, since Claire’s death, I’ve been living with this hope, that it would one day be you and me…” She started, Mac cut her off. “You know that wont happen, I love Stella, and I’m marrying her, there’s nothing that will ever be able to change that.”
Quinn walked up beside him, then out of nothing, she kissed him, just like that.
“Don’t tell me you didn’t feel anything.” She looked him in the eyes.
Mac looked away, to see his Stella stand in the door with a jealous, and definitely angry look on her face. Then she did something he wouldn’t ever have expected her to do.
She marched in, slapped Quinn right across the face, before she looked at Mac, with a look saying ‘how could you do that?’
Then she turned around and was about to march out, “Stella!” He knew that from her point of view, he had just done something unforgivable.
“Don’t even think about following me!” Her voice was angry, but still affected by the tears that were now running down her cheeks.
When Stella had marched out of the office, Mac looked at Quinn.
“Who the hell do you think you are?! You cant just march in here, and ruin everything! There never have been an “us” and there never will be! I love Stella, and there’s no one in the whole world, that would be worth loosing Stella for. Especially not you! Is that clear?!”
Mac took a deep breath as Quinn nodded, “Now I suggest you get the hell out of my crimelab, before I do something I’ll regret!”
Quinn marched out of the crimelab with a hurt look on her face, but Mac didn’t care, all he cared about, was telling Stella that he would never do that to her.

“Stella, what happened?” Lindsay looked at her, this was something Stella hadn’t done since high school, hiding in the ladies room, crying over a boy, or man this time.
“He kissed her!” the tears were going strong down her cheeks, she barely noticed the confused look on Lindsay’s face.
“Who kissed who?”
“Mac, and Quinn!” Stella looked in the mirror, only to discover her mascara run down her cheeks.
“Are you serious?” Lindsay’s expression was priceless, if Stella had been in the mood to care of course.
“I saw it, I walked past his office when I just looked towards him and saw them kissing.” Stella took a deep breath, trying to get everything to make sense in her head, but failed.
“Are you sure that was what happened? I mean, it’s Mac, the man has been in love with you for years, he wouldn’t ever screw your relationship up by kissing Quinn.” Lindsay held her arms around her.
“I know what I saw, but I don’t believe it, I mean, it’s Mac, my Mac, I love him, and he proposed to me 2 weeks ago, he cant have gotten cold feet already, we haven’t even set a date.” Stella heard the confusion in her own voice. Lindsay looked at her.
“You should go home to Angelina and you granddaughter, think things through, and give Mac a chance to explain when he comes home.”
