I gotta say, Carmine might find it hard to start on another series character after this... He'll always be "Danny Messer" to fans like us. Like Lisa Kudrow is Phoebe Buffay...
Hey, what do I know? It's been said time and again what a great actor the guy is. :) One thing's for sure, we'll be with him every step of the way... :)
 
Maybe they had input on their character as well. After all, they're putting the writers' words into action. More or less, they dig the emotions (on paper) from something they have experienced in the past, a bit (or a lot) similar to what the character is going through.
 
I don't think Danny is all Carmine by any means--after all, part of the fun of playing a character is getting to create that character and do things in character that one wouldn't do in real life. I imagine if the character is too close to the person, it's hard to lose oneself in the role. But it's also obvious that he brings a lot of himself to the role, so I think it's a real mix.

But from the three CSI shows, CSI:NY displays traits of the character similar with the actors. Life imitating art in a way.

That's what I see anyway.... :)
 
I do think that the CSI shows allow for the actors to insert more of themselves in than on many other shows. In Sci-fi shows, it might be hard for actors to relate to say, an alien they're playing, but in the CSI shows I think the character descriptions are such that the actors can make their own choices about how things come across and how they want to express themselves.
 
I do agree with the point that CSI allows its actors more freedom,so to speak...It doesn't have a certain rigidity to it...And that makes the characters appear different everytimr you see them...

I wonder how many of the NY actors did theater in high school. I'm pretty sure Gary and Eddie did, though not totally certain.
 
Oh, wow, that's cool! I know Anna got some sort of theater degree, too, but I think it was a masters.

I know Hill did theater in college, though his degrees were in other things.

Carmine might be the one who came to acting the latest out of the cast! Which makes it even more impressive how much he stands out as a real talent among the NY actors.
 
Some people have it in them and some needs some coaching to coax it out. Usually, it's the 'natural' actors who are easier to relate to than the schooled ones.

I know Gary has a theater company.

As for Melina: She graduated from Firestone High School in Akron and attended the Ohio State University, where she competed in synchronized swimming and was first runner-up in the Miss Ohio pageant. She transferred to Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater. Gosh, she's pretty smart. I'm with Hammerback, she's pretty as well as smart.

I don't think Carmine had very serious theater training (as in a whole college course and such). He had his eyes set on being a baseball player -- so he's the athlete of the bunch.

When Hill said in an interview that Sheldon Hawkes is the smartest guy on the show... he's not kidding: Harper graduated magna cum laude from Brown University (A.B. 1998) and also graduated with a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a master's degree in Public Administration from Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is a member of Boston's Black Folk's Theater Company.

Eddie's another one of those high school theater/drama geeks. Just so happens, he's hot hahahaha.... not to mention, talented.

Belknap received her B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont, and a masters in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater.

I knew about the stuff about Eddie and Gary but Anna and Melina..I had no idea..
Carmine was not too shy in telling he was interested in becomeing an athlete...

Hill has a big, sexy brain. That man is so damn smart. :D

From what I've read, it sounds like Carmine would have been a baseball player if it hadn't been for a back injury.

I figured Eddie did theater in high school! :D
