Carmine Giovinazzo

Haha...True,true...
And they say rebels aren't good!
Haha...
Danny's turning into the junior version of Mac..Danny would make a good boss if Mac steps down..
But Danny would definitely flare up now and then...It's this aspect of him that gives him this interesting edge over the rest of the crew...

I love how Carmine said Danny needed to evolve into someone who could eventually be in a supervisory position. That's definitely true, and I think we've seen shades of that this season. He's calmed down a bit and Lindsay often turns to him for help.

But ultimately like you say it's his brashness that makes him just a bit more interesting than the rest of the characters, and I think if that's lost altogether, it will take away an important part of what makes Danny Danny. I hope that doesn't happen.

Allow me to differ abit here...i feel that if the brashsness were removed,it would completely take Danny away...
Danny needs to jump up now and then...He needs to flare up...
he can't be in a single emotional state like Mac(No offence to Mac!)..

^Oh, I do definitely agree with you. Danny without the emotions, the temper, the sensitivity is just not Danny. Danny is emotional, and if that is the way he's been for the past 30 years, it's not likely to change at all. Danny's emotions are what make him so fun to watch, and so intriguing. I hope the writers don't forget that. Carmine doesn't seem likely to, thankfully. :D

Haha...
From cradle to grave eh...True,true...Old habits die hard...
Here,Danny's emotional state cannot die so easy...
Danny is a mystery...A fun one!!

He is! I really hope we get back to emotional Danny in season three. It doesn't even have to be personal drama--I love it when he gets upset with suspects or can't seem to comprehend what they've done. Those are great Danny moments.

Hmm..That's a possibility..I don't think that the writers would just suddenly allow Danny to become so emotional given his emotional state in season 2...

But then again,he losing his temper would make a great story line...Imagine him saying,"I tried..I tried so hard Mac..Just can't keep cool all the time...".Him emotional while saying that..
That would be fantastic!!

I'd love to see a scene between Danny and Mac where they get into an actual confrontation over Danny's outbursts. Danny never seems to defend himself when Mac lays into him--he kind of shuts down and lets Mac yell at him (like in Crimes and Misdemeanors and On the Job). I'd love to see Danny defend himself and tell Mac that it's just the way he is sometimes and that he is making an effort. That would be very cool.

Yup..That will be cool...
Danny does have that tendency to just shut up when Mac's laying into him...
Mac's obviously trying to 'whip' him into shape but Danny, being Danny, refuses plain as day...Not for the lack of trying though...
Once again we have a battle of characters...

Danny's rebellion is kind of passive aggressive. He won't fight back when Mac yells at him, but he doesn't always listen, either. A lot of times, like in On the Job or Crime and Misdemeanor, he goes off and does what he wants anyway. It seems like in season two he's finally learned his lesson, I guess, because he really doesn't do that. I understand the need to move him past that kind of behavior, but it was entertaining as hell to watch Danny rebel.

Just like a son is with his father..
A son doesn't fight back,but doesn't listen either...
And through that, you get a interesting recepie for trouble..
But what it does show is that Danny is a headstrong person...A headstrong person who has come to have a grip on his emotions...
And mind you,not many people are capable of compromising with both...Danny pulls this off with great delicacy...

One of the things I loved about the first season (and RSRD and Heroes) is that Danny doesn't really relate to Mac as a boss. Danny totally acts like Mac is some kind of surrogate father. Mac, who presumably has never had children, responds like an angry father. So I think they kind of both play into it.

Danny is definaly a character who always wears his heart on his sleeve. I'm like that, so I kinda can relate. I know that when my feelings are on the surface, I require a lot of attention. Carmine plays him perfectly. I always feel for the character when I see him reacting to things like him finding his own DNA on a cigarette found at a crime scene.

^Agreed, totally! I love that Danny wears his heart on his sleeve. It makes him so much more real and frankly, quite endearing. I always feel for him, too, and that's quite an achievement on Carmine's part, that ability to make people care about his character like that.

It really is an acheivement. I think if Carmine knew what he really does to us every wedsnesday night, he would be surprised. When his character had Louie in the hospital in RSRD, I balled. I have never balled so hard in my life, his character makes an impact on my personal life. Gives me something to look forward to every week, and also inspires me to go on and do good in school, and do everything I can to fulfill my dreams.
