Adrien Brody

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in awhile but it was good to look in here and see so much activity. I recently got to see the heartbreakingly beautiful film The Pianist. I cried throughout it and his performance was one of the most touching I've ever witnessed. Adrien deserved the Oscar a hundred times over for his portrayal of Wladyslaw.

I won’t spoil it for you Tinkerbell but there are just so many scenes that just stick with you long after the film has ended. It’s one of those films you can’t really love, because of the plot content and the realism of it all, but it is a great movie.

ETA:Also, can someone tell me what movie these are from?:

Welcome back Mog. It's good to see you dropping back in. This place has certainly picked up it's activity level and it's obvious that everyone here knows talent when they see it. :)

I do agree that Brody deserved the Oscar so completely for The Pianist. It's certainly one of the most moving performances of modern film and Roman Polanski did direct him so perfectly. Of course, I believe Adrien deserves an award for every film he does; he's just so wonderful. However, whether he's recognized or not, and as Tink put so wonderfully up-page he is 'one of the best young actors of our time.'

As for the pics the first two are from his lovely performance as Count Nicolas in The Affair of the Necklace and the other two are from his role as Ray Diglovanni in Nothing to Lose. The title 'Nothing to Lose' is also entitled Ten Benny. :) In 'Nothing to Lose' Brody got rave reviews and was even compared to a young Al Pacino. Well worth the viewing if you haven't seen it.

Thank-you for the welcome back. I should make more time to come in here and chat about this wonderful man and actor. Afterall, he deserves all the attention he can get. It really suprises me how virtually unknown he is in a lot of places.

I too agree with your statement Tinkerbell concerning Adrien and his acting. I do believe that he gives any movie that he's in, that star quality. Always worth watching one of his films just to see his performance.

Thanks for the info Hummer about those pics. I was collected random pics and wanted to know which movies they were from so I can view them later.

Oh, and I just found the link to this at brodylicious.org.

Hollywoodland in Contention for Prestigious Golden Lion Award

Films in Venice

Five American films will be in competition at the Venice International Film Festival from Aug. 30 to Sept. 9.

Now in its 63rd year, the festival is opening with the premiere of Brian De Palma’s “Black Dahlia,” an adaptation of James Ellroy’s novel about the murder of a young Hollywood actress. It stars Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson, who was a jury member in 2004.

Another film about the pitfalls of celluloid celebrity, Allen Coulter’s “Hollywoodland,” will be in competition for the Golden Lion, the festival’s highest prize. “Hollywoodland,” about the mysterious death of George Reeves, who played Superman in the 1950’s television series, stars Adrien Brody, Diane Lane, Ben Affleck and Bob Hoskins.

The other American films in competition are “The Fountain,” directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz; Emilio Estevez’s
“Bobby,” about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, with Sharon Stone and Anthony Hopkins; and Alfonso Cuarón’s
“Children of Men,” with Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Michael Caine. Oliver Stone, David Lynch and Neil LaBute are showing films out of competition, and Ethan Hawke and Spike Lee will have pictures at
“Horizons,” a program focused on new trends.

Best of luck to Brody and his movie for this!

Personally I think Adrien's nose is gorgeous. ;)

Hummer said:*huggles back*Tink I'm so glad you liked it and it’s so good to have someone who finally agrees with me on the length! It's one of my fav of his also.
I agree, I was a bit miffed with that part! I expected to see Ann with him. I know I would have been! I'm glad you agree with length of time, personally I could have watched another 3 hours, I don’t tire of watching AB on screen, in fact I thought he was the best character in the movie and there were some amusing scenes with him, like the one where Ann introduces herself to someone else thinking it's him!

He looked very adorable with his combed hair, although I did like the more 'been through a hedge backwards’ look at Skull Island.

By the way, welcome to the thread Mog! :D

*EDIT* I totally forgot to answer your question Hummer, I did mean to, I just got a bit carried away in my posting. Anyway, I rented 'King Kong' out and I only got one disc. So there were no special features. :( I am thinking on buying it on DVD, so I'll defiantly get the 2 disc edition. :) Is there much of Adrien? :)

I agree Tink, he has THE best looking nose. It sets his eyes off wonderfully.

I agree, another 3 hours wouldn't have bothered me at all. Not only was Adrien overly attractive in this movie but his character was indeed the best. His resolve to rescue Ann really underlined the emotions.

I love that scene also, with Jack walking up behind her with the book and patiently waiting for her to finish talking. Certainly a humorous scene that really kick started the chemistry they shared. Another humorous part, that is my fav scene, is when Carl, Jack Black, is trying to give the native chocolate and Adrien says - long sufferingly - "Come on, she doesn't want the chocolate." It's always funny to me!

As for the DVD special-features there is a good deal of Adrien; and an awesome bit where they show him doing his stunt driving, then sitting down with Peter Jackson to watch it. He makes the cutest expressions. I SO need to screencap them. Overall, the entire extras disk is about the same length as the movie.

Definately the best nose in Hollywood!

Hey thanks for the welcome Tink. It's great to have this place to gush with other fans. Hey, whenever you get 'The Pianist' the special features are on the opposite side of the disk. Lots of Adrien talking and wearing black!

I like the bed-head look from Adrien also. Gives him sort of a punky look. Which is cute. I think, for King Kong, he did a great acting job and brought back the classic unlikely hero character.

I especially liked the close-up shot of those gorgeous green eyes. Until I saw this shot, I was under the impression he has brown eyes:

Eyes

I don't think anyone could've played Jack Driscoll more brilliantly than Adrien did. Soon I'll watch 'The Dummy' - uping my Brody movie count to 3 - I hear it's great and my teacher is always talking about it.

While I'm still here some news. Aquired from hellomagazine.com:

Meanwhile, in New York, Adrien Brody was busy attending the screening of his crime mystery Hollywoodland. The Oscar-winning star has been quite the globetrotter of late, jetting from Spain, where he was shooting matador biopic Manolete with Penelope Cruz, to Chile for a romantic break with another of the Mediterranean country’s belles, model Elsa Pataky.

Normally a fan of the dressed-down Big Apple look, comprising sneakers and low-slung trousers, the actor had spruced up in a snappy slate grey suit to face the cameras with co-star Diane Lane, who sparkled in a gold sequinned frock.

Oh, my Zeus! You guys have walked that far away with AB! Cannot believe I've missed too much!

I noticed your nice pics about AB Mog! I'm sure I've seen the first two pics somewhere, but not in a movie...cannot recall exact... Now, bright Hummer :D told us these four come from AB's movie The Affair Of The Necklace and Nothing To Lose (thanks for letting me know Hummer)... How pity that I haven't watched these two yet! (cannot missed that much, so will keep on my checking for his movies)

Talking about AB's eyes, Mog, you may not believe that IT IS AB who changed my notion on green eyes with human...coz I used to see green eyes with animals, dogs, cats, wolves etc....and I specially like their color in the darkness... Well, it...might be the reason why AB has gifted comprehensions on animals...coz he know their language...

BTW, I like your new avvy Hummer...that sweet smile! When I look into AB's eyes, it seems he is saying:

A smiling face to wish you happy...

Oh, cannot talk too much about that sweety...or I may botch that mood... :D

well well as i see u guys have big fun here :D first nice to see u here again Mog - love ur AB banner :) second my dear pal lantiscod do not worry that JG songs is not ur type music (for me was interesting to know that u love instruments ), thanks for ur effort to check out who is JG - high appraise :D

and back to the topic AB moves :p Tinkerbell i`m glad to read that u at last have see "King Kong" movie. yes a little to long but have good effects-operator works and a lot AB heheh

And concerning The Pianist you’ll find that AB wears the same suit that he wore in the first scene of King Kong. The reason being, that the two films had the same wardrobe providers. Also, AB lost 30 lbs. and sold his car, moved out of his apartment, and stayed in a hotel room for several weeks, away from family and friends (the result being his girlfriend leaving him), in preparation for this role. Just some history on it.

Hummer thanks for this extra info :p

In 'Nothing to Lose' Brody got rave reviews and was even compared to a young Al Pacino

hummm have to try and find this move :D

Sounds like it's defiantly worth getting the special features disc, especially if you get to see a lot of Adrien. ;) AB stunt driving sounds great, I didn't realise he did his own stunts on that part of the film. Good job he really didn't have to climb the Empire State building. Thanks for all the information Hummer. :)

I also loved the part with the Chocolate.

Your welcome Mog, I agree it's great to have a place where we can all drool about Adrien. I remember when Hummer created this thread, I didn't realise that there were so many Adrien Brody fans on the board. It's great. Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it here Mog. :) And thanks for the tip about 'The Pianist'! I really can’t wait to watch it. :D

Random question here, when did you all start loving Adrien, what was it that made you think 'Wow, that actor is amazing'?

Wow, lots to reply to...

Thanks for that article Mog. It's great that they're finally having it's screening and being nominated for that award - sorry I didn't comment on that before. Some very talented competition but none of the other films have the Brody-factor. ;) All the luck to his movie.

You are all welcome for the info I provided. I'm overly obsessed so any tid-bits I can offer are just a part of my duties as fangirl.

Thanks for the comment on my icon lantiscod. He does look very sweet and has that warm smile going with the black suit. Love that photo shoot.

Love random questions :D. Let's see, the first Brody movie I saw was The Pianist back in 2002. A friend and I were going to go see all of the movies nominated for the top awards at the Academy Awards.
It's really hard to explain when I realized it fully, without spoiling the movie, but I will say it's when his character 'converts'. I think anyone who has seen the movie gets that sense of amazement around that point. However, throughout the film Brody is top-notch and I believe his Oscar for that movie will never be disputed.

i first saw him in 'The Thin Red Line'. there was play a lot movie stars but somehow i notice him too. love to uncover new guys befor they go to be movie stars. after this have see The Pianist (before to take Oscar awards). love to watch films with sense and strong story which u can remeber years after this. and in the and i see my self waiting with impatient The Village coz there again was AB :D after this The Jacket and King Kong.... i love man with blue eyes and AB is one that is not my type view, but is my perfect type great actor ...

Adrien certainly stood out in 'The Thin Red Line', I remember reading an article where (and I found it again to quote it correctly), after some critiques downsized his role as Fife, Sean Penn said about Adrien, "I hope he doesn't pay attention to what these jackass's are saying cause, if he sticks at it, he's going places. When you've got it you got it."

I've got some interesting pics I'm going to post later. Including a cute drawing Adrien did. Got to get them uploaded first. :)

You guys are continuing the topic of The Thin Red Line? I have to admit that Adrien's expressions are that hard to forget, once you look at him... It's funny days ago I read an interview and part of it talks about the action look...and if people would speek precisely with their eyes... It immediately reminded me of Adrien... Do you guys believe that certain language, out of the rage of hearing, could be tansfered into your brains? That's what Adrien is always doing. You know people could express their minds by eyes, but not that precisely like AB...

And Pusher, I still remember that my first music teacher in Junior Middle Scholl ever said about music... She said: Great music, no matter whatever step, could have you breath with it.  How beautiful those days are!

Till we waiting for Hummer`s new pic in this thread, I`ll post some screencaps from 'Liberty Heights' movie :p AB again play Jewish and was in love at one Cindarella with magic wand  Not to bad film, have good story and one very young Adrien

Very, very true :D And talking for teachers quotes one mine math teacher always love to say : "Stupid questions do not exist" a lot out of topic, sorry for this :p
