I'm really wanting to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Universal Studios, and I'd love to go to Planet Hollywood. I don't really care if we eat there or not, I just gotta have a t-shirt. My first (and maybe only) trip to LA won't be complete without souveniers (t-shirts). I've gotta see the Pacific Ocean. Somebody mentioned Santa Monica Pier...that would be great.

I think it would be nice if more of us could meet up and fly out together. Is anybody else going from the east coast?

Since this starts on a Thursday, when would be the best time to arrive in LA? Is Thursday more or less just a day to get everybody in LA?

^ I too am a geek about souveniers, 1CSIMfan. I also collect magnets from each of the states I visit. (My geekiness is really showing now) so, I have to get another California one. :p

Good question about arrival days and what not. I was planning on the 19th, leaving early if I can swing it and arriving in LA early afternoon. I live in the midwest, probably no one else here from the midwest, can't blame ya, not that classy! :lol:

plus, planepooling? is that even a word, doubtful :lol: would be ideal.

Yeah, Rhonda. I'll wake up and do my duty in the hotel gym, but I'm all about the sleeping in. Also, we could probably swing a GPS unit in the rental car for getting around for an extra $10/day. I'll do some research. You could also priceline a rental car and get a sweet deal on one - I did that on my last trip to San Diego and got a sweet rental for less than $20/day over a weekend.

Yes, I will be making work pay for my plane ticket - the department head is all about staying over the weekend to have some fun. She'll sign off on anything ;)

Had Malaysian beer, Chinese beer, German beer (freakin' good, I'd be the happiest person ever if LA stocked the brand I love) ... but American beer? Nope, not yet. (Please don't strangle me for this, I've been told American beer isn't all that good. Uhm, is that ... true?)

Oh, for people who are flying for the first time, don't sweat it! :) It'll be fun. If you're really worried, though, it might be good to fly with someone you trust or something. I can understand why there might be jitters since the 9/11 event. But, really, don't worry. Even the long flights aren't horrors like some people might say it is. The in-flight entertainment is usually great to make people forget all those hours. I doubt any of you guys are going to have to fly as long as I will ... twenty hours! :lol:

As for porn shops, I dunno, wasn't really a big deal for me when I visited some in London. Although I admit some of the silly dildos made me laugh. It's like walking into any other store, except it's chock full of sex stuff. :p But, whoo! I'll at the grand opening of Jorja's porn shop! :lol:

And for the record, I am a very innocent, prim and polite lady. Really, I am. Just ask my shoe. See? All quiet, means it agrees with me.

American beer is indeed an acquired taste. Personally, I have drank that over the more fruity drinks because it is cheaper. I love German beer (my ancestors) and Mexican beer.

The plane virgins should be fine. The first time I flew at the age of 14 I was terrified, but made it though ok. It was a 3 and a half hour flight (I think) to New York. If you get motion sickness, just bring Dramamine and don't forget your chewing gum when your ears pop at the change in altitude. Longest flight for me was to England, 7 hours free alcohol and a very cute male Dutch flight attendant. But yes, flying with someone can indeed help with the nervousness and any post 9/11 fears.

Burbank Extended Stay Inn is a good place IMO if you're wanting to stay longer too. I stayed there many times in 2005 when I was in LA for extended periods of time. Great location too- walking distance to NBC Studios, Warner Brothers, etc... and close to the mall, grocery stores (if you wanna cook for yourself) and transit :) I knew a bunch of people at Oakwood too (the one near Universal). Their places were quite nice.

Alright, so I have two people willing to come to the opening of my shop. Frigging sweet.

Thumpy, I won't be using the typical ribbion on the day of my opening. Oh no, I will use something else that has to do with the purpose of my shop. And, you'll have to do something else then cutting it :devil:. I'm also willing to share the profits since you're offering to do the heavy work. Heh, I said do :devil:.

Kimmy, I cannot wait to test myself aganist your awesomeness. *cracks knuckles* I am, however, experienced. As they say two dirty girls are better then one. Perhaps you have some tips for me :devil:.

*eta* allstar, don't worry. They make you wear seat belts on the majority of the flight so it's all good. You'll be safe from me. I mean, I'm not *that* scary :devil:. Oh, I'm legal here (I'm 20) but being legal in America will be much more fun. Can you say strip joints & porn shops :devil:? Wooooo!!!

West Virginia..but I can't get a direct flight from there and that's what I'm wanting. I'd like to be on the least amount of planes that I have to.
