Since this starts on a Thursday, when would be the best time to arrive in LA? Is Thursday more or less just a day to get everybody in LA?
I say you all get your butts to LA as early as you can on Thursday. Once people get their tickets and we have an idea as to when everyone will be arriving, we can gauge how much we can schedule for Thursday. I'm all in favor of packing in as much as possible, starting as early as possible. I realize that some will be traveling from far distances, so it may not feasible to arrive until afternoon/evening. If we can at least get everyone there before dinner, that would be great. But really, as early as we have a good percentage of you in town is when I'll start scheduling stuff.
ThisIsMe - Thanks so much for posting the link for that extended stay place in Burbank! I'm generally not a great source for providing the most budget conscious options. That was perfect. Convenient location too. Though I should note that anyone staying in Burbank will definitely need to rent a car.
I've been in LA twice so far and yeah, the Universal Studios tour is pretty good. It's a theme park so we had the occasional shark show up as we were crossing this lake or Godzilla threatening to kill us all... if you like this kind of stuff it's a nice experience.
For the same price, I though the NBC tour was much more interesting because that one gets you inside the real deal. You see locations of various TV shows, sound stages and stuff, and that's what I'm really interested into.
I'd agree with
Orison. The NBC tour might be a better option, depending on what people what to see. The Universal tour is somewhat educational, however, you are at an amusement park. The working studio portion of Universal is not on the tour -- save for parts of the back lot you can ride through on a tram. That one I actually have good insight into as I've both visited Universal as a tourist and done the tour and I've spent a summer in the actual studio portion of Universal. The amusement park tour is
not the real deal.
As for the Santa Monica Pier, that one's a must. I know I loved it.
I'd agree. We definitely have to put that on the itinerary. You absolutely cannot go to LA and not see the Pacific Ocean. Sadly, girls, Hollywood is no where near the ocean. So we really need to schedule some time out there and the Santa Monica Pier is fun.
i shall just have to look forward to the famous highlights post that MrsG Does so well hehe make sure all you girls have a great time!!!
We will have a fantastic time and you can definitely look forward to a post rehashing it all. In fact, anyone who ends up hugging a toilet at the end of the night will
definitely see that moment immortalized (and mocked) on the board.
Oh, and is JKLadis going to show up?! where is he these days? not still in the bush?!
As confirmed on my last trip to LA, he does in fact reside in Carmine's bushes. The problem is that he still hasn't managed to get the cable guy out there to install his DSL, so communication can be a challenge. We'll definitely work on getting him to come out with us though.
JustFriends - So glad you can make it! That's awesome!
As for it not being a "Girls Gone Wild Weekend"...oh come on lets put aside at least one night of total girls gone wild... I mean after all we'll want stories to tell on the board throughout the year!! ;-) LOL!
Demand for the 'Girls Gone Wild' stuff does seem to be pretty high. I think we're gonna need some kind of wild night with strippers and whatnot, but like
Top said, we'll definitely havew an alternative plan scheduled for the same night to accommodate those under 21 and those not digging the man meat. ... And, oh yes, we will come back from this trip with stories.
