"Working Stiffs" Discussion *SPOILERS*

i gotta say i loved the episode. it was great! the best one so far this season maybe even. the case was intriguing and the whole episode felt like old seasons. i love episodes that have heavy character development of the victim and/or perp. the interaction of the two actors who played them was very entertaining. even though i usually need Grissom and/or Sara in the ep to be happy, i didn't even notice they weren't there. 10/10

I think both the victim and the killer were creepy and deserved each other. I'm also hoping that the Mythbusters crew was given a heads up on the episode so they'll be prepared for all the e-mails saying basically that CSI got the safebreaking wrong. While the caper shown in the movie "The Score" was busted by Jamie and Adam, the CSI caper was different. The movie myth was about using sort special, heat-creating rod (thermite?) to cut thru the top. On CSI, they just used the old-fashioned method of drilling thru the metal.

Y and I also missed why he wanted that chip too. They might have explained it at some point or other.

He needed it to get into that caged area where the safe was. Remember in the flashback when he asked how the other guy was going to get the guard to swipe his card and let them in? The (future) dead guy swiped his arm and the door opened.

I thought it was entertaining and the guest stars were great. I liked the ending. Not my favorite episode, but good storytelling and direction by Shankar. He loves to reference and parody other tv shows and cult hits, but the problem with that is these references are probably only appreciated by a minority of the viewers. This was definitely better than the 'Star Trek' episode, for me anyway.
I did like Catherine's 'gasp' (cute), and 'mythbusters' Ray and Nick. But I was really hoping they wouldn't go with the 'killer gene' storyline. Like others have mentioned, it has been done before, and I doubt it will endear Ray to fans, probably the opposite.

My favorite line: 'There's an app for that!'

Overall, an 8.5/10 from me.

I liked the sort of reference to McKeen with Nick saying he had been mad enough to kill but never did. I don't mind that Ray wouldn't have picked up that because I feel like it was maybe more for the viewer to kind of go, "Oh...McKeen."

Super Dave's way of vengeance is to kill them in comic form....great.

I don't know if anybody caught this but, when Ray's talking about people valuing their privacy the camera cuts to Nick and you could see his face was like "Oops". I wonder if that will come back to bite Nick having viewed that interview.

I enjoyed the episode...I think a little change in the fact that the audience knew the killer before the CSIs is nice. I don't mind changing it up on occasion.

And why does Brass always end up interviewing the dumb ones?

I'm curious where they're going to take this thing with Ray and his DNA...I think I'll hold off judgment until we have a clearer picture

I think this one is funniest to office drones (an unofficial poll showed me all my non-cube-rat friends found it 'meh' and those of us in the hell of corporate America, working in the testicles of the banking industry enjoyed it). It really was seeing Office Space done up CSI style, and since I love that movie (watch it and 9 to 5 when you feel shitty about your job), I was in there.

It was a nice change up, the acting was good (an episode of 'Hey! That guy!') and up until they tried the water/safe/explosion thing, i could believe it. CSI looses points for saying 'We're testing it Mythbusters style!' when Mythbusters busted that particular myth.

As for the autism joke, sure it was in bad taste, but no worse than Lombard's sexual harassment actions. Ew. I think the bad taste of the joke was rather the intention. Shows you what kind of jerk Jason really was. Well that and the dismissal of the other guy to hit on the girl.

Liked:
- Guest cast did a fantastic job. Very good choices.
- Loved the ending with "Under Pressure". Great song and it fitted perfectly. I wanted the guy to succeed and escape.
- I didn't miss Sara and she's my favorite and the reason I started watching again, so it gives me hope for the rest of the season.
- The subtle reference to Warrick --well, McKeen actually-- and Sam Braun. I'm impressed TPTB have managed to remember.

Didn't like:
- So everybody except Ray thinks it's drug related and it turns out that Ray is right
- Are they planning a "Ray has a terrible dark secret" storyline? If that's the case, count me out.
- "Mythbusters" without loud, crazy explosions? Don't think so ;)
- Some jokes fell flat, but I've never liked LV humor, so maybe it's just me.

Overall, I liked it, but not as much as the first two episodes. There were a lot of not-so-subtle hints again about Ray's dad and the "killer gene". I hope they don't drag it out too long.

More like not-so-subtle hints that this is going to be a Ray-centered season. Again. :scream::scream::scream:

Was the bad guy the same guy from "O Brother, Where Art Thou"?

Yep. Great actor BTW

this ep wasn't horrible ... definitely not my favorite though :cardie: it had some great parts and some memorable scenes. I gotta say that I actually liked the way Ray was pissy with Wendy...don't get me wrong I love Wendy, but we've never seen Ray go all batsh*t like that before, so it goes to show that above all, he's human. He'll make it up to Wendy when he's having a better day :p

What did they get wrong with the safebreaking? More importantly, what autism joke? I don't know how I missed it.

In the flashbacks, the vic was talking about getting that thing implanted in his arm. The girl asked if it hurt and he said "no. It's kind of like getting a shot only without the autisim" and then he laughed. Some people believe there is a link between childhood shots and autisim, something to do with what the meds are stored in (mercury maybe?) I think... I'm not 100% sure.

I think the autism joke was supposed to be in bad taste. It helped illustrate the kind of creep he was. I don't think the writers would have put that in to be an actual joke.

I really enjoyed this episode... and I didn't realize that some of you actually count the number of scenes that each character is in. Fishburne probably has something in his contract that give him so much screen time. It's normal with marquee names.

WOW again ep. 3 and the writers are brilliant. The beginning OMG, gruesome and horrfying. So, as advertised, we knew who committed this crime Paulie:(

NIck, Ray and Super Dave examining the brutal murdered body~ An the comments on being angry. Nick "I could have killed someone, but didn't" Dr. Ray "high threshold, short fuse" and Super Dave on the comic book scenerio. Ray "Secrets are hard to keep"

Workplace showing Paulie, so homely look's like a horse:( The poor un-wanted, un-needed loser employee, nothing but put downs, insults and being ignored.

Autopsy, a implanted chip~

Jason Mr. popular but a snake:borg:

[Newman from Seinfeld] as the big boss still obnoxious as ever "Paulie stating "you ever think some people would be better off dead":shifty:

Hodges, the still narcisisist, Ray saying "people have a good side and bad side" Hodges "I don't have a bad side"

Cath getting the name and address of the victim~

Nick and Greg at the vics. apt and noting the rip-off Greg "Why?

Brass at the company workplace-co-worker surmises what happend to Jason, and Paulie goes "Some people you just can't tell" This guy was reminicent of Natalie Davis, nobody suspected her either, they fade into the woodwork easily, and people don't realize how dangeours they are till it's too late~

Company representd the Tangiers Casino, and distirbuted badges, uniforms ID's etc. and no one really wanted to work there~ but there was a huge cash stash~

Nick and Ray get along so well together:thumbsup:

Brass to Paul "You don't seem that upset" Paul 'I didn't like him" [ya' think?]

Ray looking up monoamine oxidose A and Wendy comes in and tells him that particular strain is linked to "violent behavior" and Ray gets all bent out of shape and walks out mumbling 'it's all in the genetics' I've never seen him so irritated and miffed off, and it left Wendy baffled:confused:

Archie finding the low life who actually ripped off the electronic equipment~

Hodges to Ray "Desi" Ray "Lucy"

Greggied found the evidence that Jason was spying on his co-workers and had RDX ~

3 week's earlier, Jason busted Paulie's little scheme, a game plan to get back at his co-workers and robbed the safe. [deranged thinking]:shifty:

The team exploring all kinds of scenerios~

10 days earlier, Jason and Paulie going on a trial run of the heist and a escape route, all about $$$$$ Jason had an access drive and was a snake~ he wanted out ans aid "it's just a game, and Jason threatend him and he walked away, and back to the 1st sequence he brutally killed him~

Jason's mom collecting his stuff and Paulie acting all concerned and pretending to help her, meanwhile doing the 'code access thing'~

Ms. Mayfield asking Paulie to go out for a drink, and Brass interrupted that little 'dream come true for Paulie' and taking her downtown. So she had a fling with him and was going to Cabo with him~

The ending with Paulie and his fake illusion of escaping and the team bursting through the door, and the metal part fell on him and bye-bye loser:mad:

David Bowie's "Under Pressure" nice touch

Great episode lots of Nick and Ray and Greg and Brass the whole ep. was riveting and electric and compelling 10 my score~

Lots of Greg? You call about 4 minutes worth on screen lots of time?
And yes some of us do keep track of how long our favorites are on screen because we feel that they are getting jipped due to Fishburne being on the show now.

Maybe if Ray was the new supervisor I could accept it better but he is the lowest level CSI on the team and yet we see him the most. Even Catherine lately is barely around and she IS the supervisor.

It was a good episode. It was different and I was interested to see the end of it despite knowing who killed the victim.I liked that Catherine had a more active involvement becouse she was the one that realized about the safe but still feel like some of Ray comments should have been given to her.But overall ,good.
