Yeah gilsgal "THE STAIRCASE" what a actor, so different than his character on CSI, so soft-spoken and sweet, and soo good-looking, lucky Barbara Hershey, she also played with him in 'RTLD" as his 'lady', so I wonder if they ever see one another in real life, and talk about the good old days, & wouldn't she be a good 'guest star' on CSI!

You are so right about "The Staircase" and Billy. I loved him playing Joad. Soft-spoken, yes, but strong in faith and love.
I found Billy almost painfully beautiful in this role. I don't think the pictures from this film do him justice at all. You have to see him move, hear him talk and you can feel Joad's presence deep in your bones. Talk about an empirical experience....*sigh*

gilsgal great caps.. remember when he was confronted by that creep, who was the trouble maker, and he told him 'put down the gun' and the guy looked at him, & Joad, with his intense stare, and the dude was going WHOA and backed way off, then I felt, and the guy did to, that he was in fact 'an angel' and when he asked the man to play the piano, and hummed the tune he is an outstanding actor! the best.. come on Billy do a big screen movie, and win an Oscar!

Yes, there was certainly that whole aura of "angel" hanging around Joad all the time. Especially when he was talking to Johanna (Madeline), and trying to get her to see that she was imposing her will as God's. He was amazing....and soooo sexy. OMG!!!! There were also times that I was close to tears. What an incredible film.

Actually the scene you were talking about reminded me of Grissom talking down Amy Heddler(?). You know when she had Nick at gunpoint, and Grissom comes in and talks her into handing him the gun.He was more forceful than Joad, but it still reminded me of that scene.

THE ACTUAL STORY OF THE STAIRCASE

 

He is so sexy in the Staircase. I would seriously have had to think about forgeting my vows had he looked and spoken to me the way he spoke and looked at Sister Madeleine (?) Smouldering looks and a smoky voice... definitely worth a FWOAR!

Windy, I haven't seen The Ratpack yet. It's not one that I have had a chance to buy yet, but I'll definitely keep it in mind when I go to choose my next Billy films. I just recently purchased TLADILA, The Contender and The Staircase. I'm still waiting for Cousins and KTC in the mail. Then I can have a Billy marathon! YUM!!!!
