"Who and What" Discussion *SPOILERS

the ep was kind of sort of interesting...i'm just feeling like all these scripts are kind of half assed
i liked it...kind of
the second part was dull, but i usually find wat duller than csi.
and the case was confusing, hard to track...
saw everybody though. some warrick, greg, nick, hodges, wendy, gris, sara...no ronnie though...*so sad*

promo for next week...don't even get me started!!

I wanna cry about next week.

anyway, I also thought part 2 was less interesting than part 1.

I also wanna go grrrr...if they're in NY and already have Grissom there, why not also have Mac show up? It's his territory too.

Not enough Grissom in part 2...bored me too since I don't watch WaT.

when grissom was asking about where to analyze the evidence, i was thinking 'go see Mac at the NYPD labs!!!'...

I was actually really disappointed with this two part cross over episode. I have watched CSI and WAT from the begining of each.

My main problem is the following. Let me first say maybe I just missed something. But here it is, I don't understand where the father's actual kid(the one who was alive in the end) came from. I thought he kidnapped him from the babysitter who was sitting for his adopted parents. He then killed the babysitter and that freaked out his wife/kids mother so she took off with the kid. But then, as I understood it, they said the kid that they found buried in the desert was the kid, Jason, who was kidnapped when the babysitter was killed. But, then where was the actual son?

I will try to state this as clearly as i can as I am obviously confused. The kid buried in the desert was Jason, the one taken while being babysat. But I thought the whole point was this guy or couple was trying to get their son back so they kidnapped him from the babysitter and then the father ended up killing the babysitter. Wife takes off with son. It seems like there is an extra kid or something. Whene was the actual son lost to the father? What was the point of kidnapping Jason? When was the actual kid reunited with his mother? I know this isn't very clear, but it is the best I can explain my confusion. If you happen to be able to understand my question and know the answer, if you could clue me in I wold greatly appreciate it.

I mean I watch these shows all the time, I can follow a plot. So I don't know if I just missed some small thing or maybe I'm just retarted tonight.

It just was disappointing to me. The chemistry between Gill and Jack was non-existant in my opinion and the hostility they all had, especially in the begining, seemed out of place and pointless. It seems, TO ME, that this project got micromanaged into confusion or something. I know when I look forward to something to much I am often disappointed, but this just seemed really confusing and not very original. Am I wrong? Please share. Thanks.

It seemed that Grissom was pissy at him for the sake of drama...i didn't see the point..

I agree with the plot being hard to follow, by the end of the two hours i was pretty confused...and i usually get complex plots.

Good to know that I am not the only one who was confused. i really did like it, correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel that they overcrammed it. If they had cut out a few scenes and expanded on a few more it would have been better. Maybe it was hard for the writers to collaberate, maybe they are not used to writing long things, and maybe they said wow, two whole hours, and underestimated and crammed way too much. I did like it, and I understood after talking to some friends after, but I had never seen WAT before, and was utterly confused with the characters. I'd give it a 6.5 I think...it wasn't bad, it just didnt flow like most of them do.

I didn't really like this episode. I just couldn't get into it this week. I just watched the WAT half, and the only thing I remember about the first half was Hodges and the scene with Nick and Archie. The plot was annoyingly hard to follow, and Jack is, well, boring.

Anyone know where I can watch the promo for next week?

Just watched both CSI and WAT with my hubby...

CSI rocked. Everyone was in the episode (except Ronnie). I liked how Nick wrote on his hand, how Hodges got put in his place, Doc Robbins asking Grissom if he wanted to do the autopsy. I also really enjoyed the scenes between Grissom and Jack in the office.

I got more than enough GSR to make me happy for awhile. The scene in the house between Grissom and Sara just about broke my heart.

What I didn't like is Jack had a big role in CSI, but Grissom was barely in WAT. I don't watch WAT so I kind of fast-forwarded (we Tivo'd it since I had a meeting tonight) until we got to the Grissom and good parts.

Finally, I was impressed with Grissom's running ability. He seems more the nerd not to be able to keep up with Jack. Maybe all his "time with Sara" has helped his heart and health.

I thought it was much better than last week. The CSI part seemed old school.

As for next week...going to Costco to get the Kleenex.

First of all, this episode was really lacking something, but I just can't put my finger on it. On viewing it a second time (fast-forwarding to the better parts) I guess I'd call it an "OK" episode.

- Why do they keep Gil’s character revolving between a clueless/semi-snarky/unfeeling robot and a quiet/burned out/curmudgeon?

- I liked the way they all worked together. The CSI’s didn’t protest Jack’s presence -much. (think: Strip Strangler – “learn to be more politic” and “is it so bad to avail our lab to the resources of the federal government?) I like how Cath was ready to turn all of their evidence to Quantico, and was a bit surprised/glad to hear they were still going to be working on it.

- Was Doc a bit testy in this one? Gil asking if the victim had hammerhead-type wounds on her head. He said “yeah, do you want to do the autopsy too? "

- Sara & the cops going into the house. It gave me a flashback to “Play with fire” where she barged into the room while they were clearing it. I guess she’s learned her lesson.

- Also in that scene, as the new detective (or whatever rank he was) came in the house before Sara, it made me miss Sofia all the more. That would have been her spot. (please come back, Louise!)

- Miss Piggy (or is it Mr Piggy, I can NEVER remember) is back in Gil’s office? He gave that to Catherine as an office-warming present in season 5. She still has her office, so why would he take it back? Maybe it’s a different one? Or maybe the duck lady that Cath shares her office (does she still?) with made her get rid of it?

- Warrick, Nick & Greg working together again while processing the house. That was nice. I like the boys working together. If it only could have been the girls working together again, it would have made me happier. I guess that was too much to ask for. I mean, Cath & Sara haven't worked an actual full-case together since.... early season 6 "Still life".

- Jack clocking the guy at the end of the casino chase was cute. It also reminded me of Liz Vassey doing the same thing in her unaired pilot “Nikki & Nora” a few years ago.

- Speaking of Wendy – I liked her shared look with Gil as Jack took over the computer. Kind of like her saying "do I let him do that?"

- And Hodges! “The FBI has enough ass-kissers already”!! YOU GO, JACK!! Fifteen seconds with the guy and he can already sum up Hodges to a “T”.

- Cath’s comment – “most four-year olds will do what you tell them. Most 10-year olds do what they want” (learned from experience, Cath?) It would be nice to see Lindsey soon. It’s been over a year. They've probably aged her to 18 and is in college by now.

Anyway...not an overly great episode. Kind of dull. Too much Jack, but nice interaction/rotation between the CSIs. Not like the "good ole days" (Seasons 1-4), but a bit better than seasons 6 & 7. I'd give the episode a 5/10 'average' rating.

I know what you mean. I didn't tape the episodes and I've got a cold (so I can always blame my confusion on the meds ;)) so I can't go back and try and figure it out. But as near as I can figure it, he kidnapped Jason from the babysitter because he thought that was his son, but was mistaken. For some reason he thought his son was with the babysitter, but it was the other couple's kid. Meanwhile, his actual son was with Gina all along - I think. Where I'm confused is about the kid killed at the beginning of the CSI episode - the one with the lady who was in the tub. How did he fit in again? I think they explained it, and it made sense, but for the life of me, I can't remember.

I can usually follow plots, but I agree, this one was a bit confusing. After CSI, the promo for the WAT episode had Grissom explaining he was there because he doesn't like unfinished puzzles (or words to that effect) but I never actually saw that scene in the episode. It makes me wonder if some other piece of the story got cut. Or, as I mentioned before - it could just be the meds.

 Right when that scene was going on, I heard Nick saying, "I bet you that kiss ass will have the results to Grissom before we do?" And I looked at my sister and said, "Here's the kiss ass." And then Jack said that and we shared a laugh.

I think the episode was a little dull, but I think it's because Jack and Grissom's styles don't really work well with each other, he would have been better fitting to cross with NY and work with Mac

I loved it. Maybe it was just seeing Petersen and Lapaglia working their magic, maybe it was just the collaboration of two of my favorite shows. So sue me. I thought it rocked. :D

Must be collaboration day, with Keith Olbermann naming the "Mythbusters" (Savage & Hyneman) on his "best people in the world" list tonight...

But yeah, I agree with some of those who felt the second hour lagged, but WAT has a much different vibe than CSI, and morphing the two sort of brought it out...but I still loved it.

I agree with everyone who loved the CSI part, but disliked the WOAT part.

I thought the characters on WOAT were boring, and maybe they're really not, it's just, not watching the show regularly, I didn't know who they were.

It sucked how there was so little WP in WOAT. AL got a lot of screentime on CSI whereas WP got hardly any of WOAT.

It was so boring and confusing, I actually fell asleep a couple of times!

Did anyone else want to reach thru the screen and slap that "helpful" teacher at the kid's school? If the teacher had just kept his mouth shut, the kid might not have been kidnapped. Also, when the FBI was showing a spread of the killer's victims to the guy's sister, I thought they all resembled the sister.
