Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

I wanted a real kiss between them too, but alas not at work. I was sort of hoping the kiss between them was more casual than 'working' but from what I have seen, they both liked kissing each other.

Perhaps it lead to more kissing. ;)

I don't see Alex Carter's name listed for any other episodes either. But that doesn't mean he won't be mentioned. That would be awesome if Cath made a reference to him, like "Oh I'm going out with Lou tonight." or "I'm meeting him after work."

I read the plot about the finale as well. I'm thinking the whole Dr. Jekyll storyline revolves around Ray and Cath just gets caught in the 'crossfire'. It would be cool if Vartann was there (since he's a cop) in the aftermath. I mean if she didn't need him after he shot the drug dealer off of her, she'd surely need him after 'her life hangs in the balance'.

Oh, and I have a question... are they a 'cannon' couple now?
Thoughts???

electra, there is lots of CV fanfic on ff.net. I even have some stories there. ;)

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

I am not sure if they are cannon or not. They are seeing each other I believe but I am not sure how serious their relationship is.We definely need another episode to figure it out:lol: I want the writers to take their time with them so we can see the flirting ,attraction and then settling into domestic bliss.

Thanks for the FF advice,ladyhunter.

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

I think they have been 'seeing' each other. Probably since the episode Better Off Dead when he helped her down the hill to the crime scene. I think they were even 'seeing each other' before that. That's why Cath said "no comment" when Sara asked about it. ;)
My take anyway. :D

Also, when Cath said in The Panty Sniffer, "you never talked about your son."
To me, that said that they have talked, a lot to each other. He just didn't mention his son (for some reason)

I say they have been very casually dating; coffee after shift, dinner perhaps? Nothing too serious. At least until they were in the hotel room together getting to know each other more and kissing. ;)

And hopefully we'll get a glimpse into their relationship, before the season ends.

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

Question: Please tell me that CSI is taking Catherine/Vartann further. Catherine hasn’t had a stable relationship on the show in 10 years and I really loved their scenes earlier this month. —Steph
Ausiello: I hear we’ll find out exactly where things stand with those two in the season finale. Same goes for Wendy and Hodges.
So we have to wait until then to find out what's going on between them? I hope not. I hope that's when he'll be there. I hope we get a reference to him and what happened in the hotel room before that.
I would be nice to know where their relationship is, what's going on, etc...
I sure would like them to be a 'couple' by now. :D ;)

And anyone guess how long they have been seeing each other before the hotel stakeout?

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

Marg was on The Early Show on CBS. She talked a bit about Catherine's relationship with Vartann.
I put spoiler tags around it because there is some mention of upcoming episodes in her interview.

Marg on the Early Show

She said that it won't be a 'full blown love affair.' Whatever that means. But CSI likes to do things subtle.

So, I'm thinking that we won't see a lot of Vartann next season possibly just mentions of him??? Maybe we won't see them together, but it could be implied they are in a relationship???

What does everyone else think?

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

O.K. I'm a smack fan but have been watching CSILV early episodes. I love Catherine and am I not mistaken or is this Vartann guy the guy in ladyhunters avie kissing Catherine? I am on season five and did I see this guy in season five? Is he a detective? Cathrine was seeing some casino owner and she caught him with some girl in his office not long ago. I have not been watching current episodes because I lost interest when Grissom left and when they killed Warrick but I watch the dvds during my work out schedule. Anyone can fill me in? What is his first name and when did he start the show? I want to keep an eye out!:)

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

Hi Lori.

Yes, Det. Vartann is the one kissing Catherine in my avie. ;)
It was from The Panty Sniffer episode that aired about a month ago.

And yea, Vartann was working the case with Catherine in Viva Las Vegas.
She was seeing the club owner then, so there was no romance between Cath and the detective back in season 5.

We have been talking about how long they have been seeing each other.
There was reference to him and Catherine in this season's Better Off Dead episode where Sara asked Catherine about her 'relationship' with Vartann.

Cath just laughed and said, "no comment."

Some say it was between last season and this season. Some say it's just new, beginning this season.

And in The Panty Sniffer they were together in a hotel room trying to stop drug dealers from making/selling E.

This is the press release for the season finale. Vartann is in the episode.
It makes me wonder what is going to happen between him and Catherine.
There is also statements that their relationship will be 'explained' in the finale. I'm hoping that's good news. That we'll know exactly where things stand with each other. My guess is that it's going to be subtle and slow but nice. Marg said it herself in her Early Show interview. She said Alex was cool and that she enjoys finally have a love interest. ;)

I think Heather will enjoy this.

Anything about the CSI finale that doesn't involve Dr. Jekyll? — Beverly
ADAM: Make no mistake: Dr. Jekyll is the main attraction. But fans who enjoy seeing Catherine and Detective Vartan together will get another taste of the pairing in the season's final episode. Marg Helgenberger tells us, however, not to assume there will be a big romantic scene. "It's like we usually do with physical relationships on the show — it's all very subtle," she says. "But it definitely leads to a continuing relationship. Things are going really well."

From Mega Buzz

So you were right about the subtle thing ladyhunter . Like I wrote on the spoiler thread, I don't mind that it's not a big romantic scene because those two do subtle VERY well and it's a pleasure to see. There's a lot of sizzle even if they are just talking like in the hotel room in the P. Sniffer. I'm so psyched that she said that it definitely leads to a continuing relationship :D. Makes my shipper heart VERY happy . I needed some good news among my ships today .

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

Thanks Shane.:D

This made me squeeeeee! I was about ready to give up on the notion that things were going to go well for them. I had this thought that Vartann would get shot and that's what the 'bloodshed' for Catherine would be about. He possibly could, but according to the spoilers I just read, the relationship is going to continue.

I love their scenes together. I love seeing them talk to each other, the smiles and the glances they gave each other. It's way more appropriate for someone like Catherine. It's not all about sex or anything like that. As someone else said on the board, their relationship is 'cerebrually sexy'. That says it all.

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

I was soooo nervous for Vartann as well. I really thought they would either kill him off or shoot him. Plus I was afraid that Marg would be saying her goodbyes to the show. Though that was more because there was so much speculation going around about it and not because of anything I had read or seen. But this statement, coming from Marg herself, really gives me high hopes for them. I guess Vegas finale is the only one I'm looking forward now . I hope our questions about their relationship get anwered. Or at least some of them.

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

So Marg's statement made me go ...HMMM? What exactly does 'physical relationship' mean? Are we going to see them in bed??? Probably not, but it caught my attention. I'm glad she said the relationship was going to continue. With all the stuff going on in the finale, I'm sure what we do see will be very subtle. Perhaps them saying goodbye as she goes to work? Or after the case is solved and she goes to him. That's actually what I'd like to see. That would be very subtle. Just the way I like it.

Anyone else?

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

She’d also like to see a bit more about her character’s relationship with Detective Vartann (Alex Carter), which heated up when the pair did a stakeout together in The Panty Sniffer. “I think it’s something that will continue,” she said. “It probably won’t develop into something that you see every episode and it certainly wouldn’t turn into any kind of soap opera situation. Any time we do that, I think it kind of takes away from the crux of the show because it’s always about the mystery and the crime-solving. I’d much prefer it to be about her supervisorial situation and what kind of a leader she is … as opposed to her personal life.”
The relationship between Catherine and Vartann was originally developed in the writers’ room. “Carol Mendelsohn, the executive producer of the show, she had called me and said, ‘You know, we’re thinking of having Catherine have a relationship with Detective Vartann. How do you feel about that?’ I really like the actor that plays him, Alex Carter, so I said, ‘I think it’s a great idea.’ Because I think we’re both adults and I think we’re obviously involved in a lot of crime scenes, yet we’re both very professional about it. We’re not young enough that it can lead to some kind of strange vibes. I think that’s the most important thing—that we’re adult about it and we’re both mature, sexual people.”

I really see what she says about both of them being professional and mature in how they are handling the relationship. It's obvious the relationship revolves a lot in getting to really know each other and looking in the other person for a companion for the long run and not just a fling to pass some time and have fun. I really believe we'll see glimpses of their relationship down the road and even though they may come from time to time everytime we get one it'll be a treat :).

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

Based on Marg's interview also, I think we'll see Catherine in a limited way next season. She might still be the supervisor but she won't be prevalent in every episode. That being said, I love how she said the same thing about VCR. I really like the fact that she said it was subtle and it won't be seen every episode. I also like the fact that Marg said she wanted it with Alex. :)

Yea, the line about two sexual people had me laughing too. It's true, they are old enough not to go at each other but they also know they are attracted to each other in that way. :D

Melike very much.

Re: Vartann&Willows #1Vartllows:b/c This Guy..'Can Hit the Bowl'

CSI Files Catherine and Detective Vartann (Alex Carter) have embarked on a romance this season. What was behind the decision to pair them together, and will we see more of their relationship before the season is done?
Rambo: It seems that every season, when we talk with the actors about where their characters could go in the coming year, the subject of Catherine having a love life comes up. Not only is Catherine a very attractive woman, Marg is an actor of tremendous range and willing to explore the emotional boundaries of a character working long hours at a potentially life-threatening job as years go by. Carol Mendelsohn came into my office one day this season and said she’d been thinking that Catherine and Vartann would make a natural couple. It sounded right to me, and to others on the staff. When Jackie Hoyt ran it by Marg before starting “Sin City Blue,” she loved the idea. As to how much of the love life we get to see, we have to remember that the show’s about crime scene investigations, but I don’t expect a flame that hot to flicker out quickly.
I just wish we'd get a straight answer as to whether or not Marg is coming back. I would hate to see something happen to Catherine in the finale or to have Vartann die. That would be way to over dramatic for my taste and honestly a little beyond CSI. I do love the line about the hot flame not dying so quickly. And about they would be a natural pair. I've been saying that since the end of season 6.

What does anyone else think of that?
