Steve was stung by a stingray while shooting a documentary at the Great Barrier Reef.

Rest in peace Steve. :) You'll always be my Dad's hero.

I could hardly believe it when my mom came into my room and told me he had died. I used to watch Crocodile Hunter all the time when i had Animal Planet. I hope he didn't suffer. He will be missed :(

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

My hubby woke me up at 3 am to tell me about his death. We also use to watch his show all the time but then down graded our cable so we've been missing out on it. He was a great man and will be sadly missed. I'm in shock. I use to watch his show thinking he was going to be killed by a wild animal but not a stingray. It was a very freakish accident and he probably felt he was in no danger. Stingrays can be very friendly. I had the chance to pet some at an aquarium once and they would come right up to you wanting to be touched. Steve did so much for the animal world, He was such a loving and caring person. I'm so sad.

I loved Steve Irwin. He brought so much attention to the plight of endangered animals.

My prayers are with his wife, Terry and his two small children aged 8 and 3.
