The Closer

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

I liked the arsonist as one of the creepiest villains this year. I hope he will return; he's sort of Brenda's version of Goren's Nicole Wallace on L&O:CI.
Oh, KS got her annual emmy nom this morning, as did Glenn Close for "Damages." Go cable! (Oops, forgot about Holly Hunter; really go cable!!!)

And the creepeness continues, the poor home less guys getting snuffed getting them drunk and running them over.. EWWWW,, by the very people they trusted the caretaker of the half-way house and the volunteer woman, so they could cash in on their insurance policies, WOW who knew? Brenda she's such a trip, so tense and up-tight, but then gentle with her lover. Him throwing out his back:evil: the cat fight in the interogation room OUCH:klingon: always good, Kyra is awesome and then later she was on Jay Leno, and she's so different, as herself..once again, showing her great acting on the show..

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Another riveting ep. is there ever a bad one? the kid who raped and killed the "cherry pickin" girl, poor thing, and the powerful dad a Baldwin brother, I'm not sure I knew who this one was, I missed the credits, and how Brenda pretended to be a legal lawyer, to fool the friend into spilling his guts, and it wokred her teram are always mystified at her tactics, you'd think they'd be use to her by now, she's so good in this role:thumbsup:

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Just saw her recently in the rerun of the movie "Phenomenon" with some guy named Travolta. Anyway, that was Daniel Baldwin as the cop father of the rapist. Didn't act like a good role model.

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Thank's Dynamo:thumbsup: and this week's again super episode, the supposed realtor, who was really dealing drugs, and got snuffed, and the wire led them to another creep, and Brenda made a deal with her FBI boyfriend and them crossed him, she always has to have it her way, and he got pissed off, and told her off, and left the house in a huff, to go to a "meeting" she always acts surprised, but knows he was right, she'd be a difficult person to be with on a regular basis, especially a guy. She'd better cool her ways or he might bail for good:(

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Someone made a comment about her needing another visit from her Mom. Yeah, I love her Mom, the way she "guilts" Brenda Leigh into behaving. I also love the way the writers make Brenda so unapologetically flawed. She's so into her job, it's like she can't even comprehend what she's done to Fritz. TPTB there create real people! I'm sure we've all known someone that self-obsessed.

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Last nights was comical, I laughed alot:lol: Brenda always at her best and Provenza a riot, with that snaky woman who wanted her husband killed and had a yen for him, and the rest of the team rolling their eyes gagging! the stolen car, all of it, funny! and at the end Brenda goes to him "why don't you be the rude, suspicious know-it-all you try to be"

Yeah, desertwind, I liked the switch from last week's rather serious ending, with Brenda's selfishness so exposed, into a much lighter episode. My absolute favorite part, though, was the Pope/Provenza "bonding" moment, with each relaxing with a glass of Pope's whiskey. For some reason, I just couldn't help laughing. So different, yet each so much in the exact same situation.

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Here's an article from todays paper and Kyra talking about her role on "THE CLOSER"

TV DETECTIVE REMAINS CLUELESS IN HER OWN WAY

Kyra Sedgwick is learning from her charatcter on "The Closer" "I love the way she is so full of power, and she is unapologetic about it", says Sedgwick, who is in the 4th season of playing the confident and empathetic detective, Brenda Johnson, on the hit series [9pm Mondays on TNT] "I love how funny she is, she is so clueless about her own emotionality. She is so intutitive about other people, but she doesn't have a clue about herself" Sedgwick has been nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama. The awards will be presented next month. Brenda represents her first long-term starring part in TV. she wants the character to be a role model for women, which she says is a rareity in televison these days. "She's a fascinating woman, as an actress to step into someone like me who always wants to talk about other people's feelings, she is totally not like that in real life. She has no interest in herself" Sedgwick says. "It's hard to find roles like that if you're a woman. There aren't a lot of good writers out there:confused:, and there are a lot who don't know anything about a woman. Brenda is not a role that Sedgwick finds easy to walk away from. Alsdo an executive producer on the series, she says absorbs her life. "It's like a marriage in that I literally give myself up to this character six months out of every year, and it takes up every single fiber of my being for that 6 months" Kyra had two children with actor Kevin Bacon. "I steal an occasional moment to be with my family, but for the most part it is a total takeover, and a total mind takeover. I have to memorize the lines, but I also give myself over to the character 6 months out of the year. Confident and connected, even Sedgwick confesses she has moments of helplessness, I fell powerless all the time" she says. "There are a million things I am powerless over. I feel that every day. "I am powerless over what people think of me, I don't think any actress thinks they care what other people think, if they do whey become an actress"

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Hi all! I am new to THIS thread and a huge Closer fan. How great was the show last night? Anyone else think that kid deserved it? Am I a bad person? LOL! Anyway, "Hi ya'll"

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Very reminiscent of the SVU episode where the child victim's father, a psychiatrist, killed the sociopathic murderer kid next door. But he knew how to work the jury and got away with it. Actually, I was kind of rooting for him to get off. If you don't have a soul/spirit, you can't see beyond your own wants. And in last night's epi, you notice how, in the end, Brenda decided not to have kids, at least in the near future. I think the long list of the victim's evildoing made her question a lot of her notions about nurture's importance. And I could see that Fritz understood how shaken she was by the case, so he went along with her. Are you sure he's an FBI agent? Way too understanding to fit the tv stereotype (lol).

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

WHOA talk about a rollar coaster episode, I sat on the edge of my seat throughout this on, riveting:wtf: poor Julio, and the actor who plays him incredible, I felt his pain. So many liars, in the that ep., always living in fear:shifty: and the Hispanic element, I live around many of them in my community, there's gang members and just plain good wonderful kind-hearted people. Brenda:lol: how she comes head-to-head with that Puppet, SIT DOWN:scream:. she has NO fear of anyone, just does her thing she's magnificent in this role, the whole team so upset for him and that kid 14, and his life is over.. so to speak, the last scene, tears for sure:(

And directed by Kevin Bacon, good job!

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Agree with your review. Wasn't Julio (actor is Raymond Cruz) magnificent? How awful, to have tried so hard to make sure your brother had every chance, then to have him gunned down almost in front of you. I can understand Julio nearly losing his mind over it.
Re Brenda, she's so focused and fierce when on the job. At home, she probably would take some precautions for her safety. Yet when she gets a call to work, she's immediately only interested in solving the crime, as if the perp has insulted her personally by daring to break the lawin her city!

TV Guide's Cheers and Jeers page looks at Raymond Cruz's performance in Monday's episode (second item):

Thank's for the review, I knew that, just forgot his name:confused:fantastic, and Bacon did bring out the best in his acting abilities:thumbsup:

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Another good epi. It's interesting how emotional she was at the end, over the murderer and the abusive spouse. She's usually not that personally upset. I wonder if it's a hint about something that happened in her past, either to her or another case. And I loved Pope's comments when she expected him to kowtow to the spouse; the look on her face was priceless. Then, when she stood up to her Daddy, well, I was worried about her compass - for about five seconds, then Fritz stood up to her in the bedroom. Transfer of emotional blackmail power from Daddy to Fritz?
