The Closer

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

This was not one of the best, but good anyway to me, but had some charming moments with her parents, and I swear what great type casting, that man who portrays her dad, Brenda looks just like him the same eyes, nose and mouth, and she's got his attitude, and a bit of her moms ditzyiness:lol: the beginning when Fritz goes privately "I thought we agreed to never leave me alone with your parents again" :guffaw: and her pushing them off on him, and he does a fake call to himself to get out of it, the story was awful, another abused woman or women, and then Provenza taking them places, and boring everyone with his stories! he's a trip. The last scene where she finally told her dad to back off with much apprehension, and her and inviting them out to dinner anyway, & her dad going "I hope your treat the waiter, better than you treat me" all bark, no bite:shifty:

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

that man who portrays her dad
Barry Corbin plays Clay Johnson. You might remember him from Northern Exposure, where he played retired astronaut Maurice Minnified, or the general in War Games. Frances Sternhagen plays Willie Jay Johnson. She used to play Cliff Clavin's mom on Cheers.

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

Great episode Monday night. I love Brenda's parents. They are larger than life. I'm from Georgia, and I have to say that the writers did their homework regarding Brenda's relationship with her parents, especially her father. The accents are so-so though... I just laugh every time her folks come to visit!

I thought Fritz was going to have a stroke during breakfast though. Have you ever seen anyone chew so determinedly in your life? :guffaw:

From TV Guide online:

TNT Is Open to a Closer Spin-Off

TNT apparently has said "Thank yew very much" to a spin-off pitch from The Closer creator James Duff.

Penned by Duff and co-executive producer Adam Belanoff and Michael Berchem, it is unclear whether the offshoot — referred to by some as The Fixer, says the Reporter — would revolve around a character we have met before or a brand-new one.

TNT thus far is only confirming its order of a spin-off script from Duff & Co.

The Closer: Miami? The Closer: SVU? The Closer: Next Generation? Provenza - P.I.?

*shakes head* I don't know why that surprised me. I guess we had to figure it was a matter of time until they did it. What are they going to do, transfer one of Priority Homicide somewhere else and let Brenda come visit?

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

This episode was a total who-done-it, the priest finding the two dead cops in that pick-up truck, and the audience wondering if he was involved, and he was, but in a good way, and Brenda getting reprimanded again, by the oh so forgiving boss, he's such a perfect boss, everyone has had someone like him:scream:and the Mexican drug cartel, and the head honch commandant, coming to help fnd the perpertrator, and it was him:wtf: behind it. When he attacked Brenda WHOA:klingon:, scary moment, and they all dragged him off, to jail, with another name..so he'd be the one who got snuffed by the cartel. And then her and Fritz going to see the priest to find and tell him about Mateo, who was in disguise as a janitor:thumbsup: good as always~

Much as the part of me that wants balance in the universe approved of Brenda's sending the bad cop to jail in place of the good cop, the other part of me which would like to believe in our flawed justice system frowned. Not so much because of the justice thing, but because it flashed through my mind that The Closer had borrowed CSI Miami's soap opera writers for that ending. Puh-lease, one Super Horatio is more than enough for TV. What's she gonna do next, go to Brazil/Mexico/China/wherever and kill some bad guy who got away with shooting a member of her squad? Other than that, I enjoyed the epi.

Re: The Closer *possible spoilers*

As exciting as the episode was from start to finish (loved Babs), I could only focus on two things at the end:
1. They'd better not kill off Julio after Raymond Cruz finally had a chance to show his acting chops after the brother's death. What's that about?
2. It's a good thing they're off til January; every single one of those law enforcement types (including Fritz) needs to spend at least four months on the shooting range. Maybe Gibbs and Ziva from NCIS could come over and guest on TNT to teach them how to make a "head shot," and I'm not talking about photos.

WOW:eek: I haven't screamed since Warrick got shot, horrible those sick twisted kids with their out of reality plan, and their even though a horrific tragic ep. were some hilarious moments, Brenda getting carried away twice, and only follow her rules:confused:and the robot, funny.. but the ending I freaked out when Julio got shot, and he still was able to make a humorous comment in the helicopter on Provenza running,:) he better not die:scream:geez we have to wait till January:( always top notch!

This show will air new episodes starting Jan. 26~

The Closer returns for 5 new episodes that address a couple of cliff-hangers. does Sanchez [Raymond Cruz] live? Will Brenda [Kyra Sedgwick] and Fritz [Jon Tenny] make it to the alter? The wedding plans won't go smoothly, "Brenda's very independent and doesn't want to believe she needs anybody" Sedgwick says LAPD's deputy chief will get sidetracked fron cake-tasting and church picking by cases both grim and comedic" One is "almost a spoof of horror movies" says creator James Duff of a case that involves a murder plotted out in text messages, found on a discarded cell phone. Sounds like a bad connection. Margy Rochlin

Another mind blowing ep. Brenda so ruffled by everything, much to her parents demise, that her dad had a heart attack. The case of the cancer riden girl who was a scam artist and taking money form the church for her fake needs, and her boyfriend caught her, and told her to tell the congregation, and when she said to wait he told her "NO" and she shot him. I though it might be his bro. the pastor or someone else the guy was a grifter, so I never thought it was who it was, his girlfriend. Brenda is a total trip and her boss telling her "your like a hammer, and everyone is the nail" the whole cast is so funny, and glad that her co-hort, who got shot in the last ep. is physically OK, but does need some counceling:(cute ending with her dad complaining about the remote, he's so much like her good casting:)

Good episode, with a comical twist. The transvestite, who killed the old fat jewler, and stole his diamonds and stuffed his body in the trunk of the car, he was a good actor. He almost got away with this, but Brenda the dog with a bone, wouldn't give up, he was such a convincing liar. He did himself in cause' Fritz found out he'd done this before. Brenda and her parents, the dad moaning and bitching about everything, and driving her nuts:lol: She's exactly like him so funny. Poor patient Fritz. And poor Sanchez, who kissed this freak-show and was so embarassed and humilated by the whole ordeal. He wasn't ever supposed to be working out in the field and they all covered for him but she found out and 'chained' him to his desk so to speak. Great cast, Sometimes I want to say to her "chill out" and calm down.. always good:bolian:

Really a different twist on this ep. and Brenda was fit to be tied, so annoyed and irritated at the perpertrator, the rape victims and then the last one murdered, and the low-life scum bag hiding up a tree, this was a done deal or was it? much to everyones disdain, it wasn't him, but his seedy creepy attorney who did all of these, and he was getting paid to be the look-out, so he could get facial reconstruction.. and beings there was no evidence tying him [the lawyer] to these horrific crimes he walked.. and Brenda was furious:klingon: really interesting and the who-done-it factor:(
