The 30 and Over Club

Oh that's so funny- I remember my brother teasing me during the kidnapping episode too! He kept saying (because I was hidden deep in my chair while I watched) "Are you crying over there? Are you crying because Joe's in danger?" What a jerk. I seem to recall my dad telling him to leave me alone, though. We all watched the Hardy Boys together- my parents liked it, even.

I too saw Gowan live! And The Parachute Club (another one for the Canadians)!!!

I'm a big U2 fan too. War was their first big album for me. :)

Well War introduced me to them, but they were my second choice after Duran Duran until Roger Taylor and Andy Taylor left the group. I kind of went Janet Jackson and Glass Tiger.

Then along came The Joshua Tree! Awww memories. Although I never got to see U2 live unil their Pop tour in 1997, then I saw them again in 2001 and 2005.

I plan to take my daughter to see them when they tour next year since she's budding musician.

I might have wrote this already, but I saw Glass Tiger twice. I was in love with Alan Frew.

And my favourite TV shows in the 80s were The Cosby Show, St. Elsewhere, Cheers and Who's the Boss. I named my daughter after Tony Danza's daughter on the show, Samantha.

I drove my parents crazy with Shaun Cassidy, but I also followed his career a bit. He's a very talented writer and has done well. Good for him.

Hah! Glass Tiger... those were the days... I only remember "Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone" and "Thin Red Line". I actually went the more alternative route, I guess. I did a lot of The Smiths, The Cure, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, etc. I didn't actually listen to much radio pop. I pretty much only saw Gowan etc. because I lived in a smallish town and those were the only shows we got!

I did love the Cosby show though. Good times. I remember all the hullabaloo when Lisa Bonet, aka "Lisa Huxtable" did that nude scene in "Angelheart". I don't think she was on Cosby too long after that.

I also loved The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I caught a couple re-runs of it a while back and I still found myself laughing. Similarly, I watched a couple Hardy Boys episodes at some point not too long ago, and I was surprised at how decent the dialogue was- Joe had a real nice, dry wit. :)

Did anybody watch Nancy Drew? I didn't catch that one nearly as often. And then I think Pamela Sue Martin went on to Dynasty or something. I think she also had a "nude movie scandal" if I'm not mistaken...

I watched both Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. I can't remember any episode plots, but I've been thinking I might need to watch them again. I bought Land of the Lost a couple of years ago, and was having a lot of fun rewatching those.

Did anyone ever read Nancy Drew? I always loved getting a new book. I'd get home, curl up in the chair in the living room, and read through the entire book in one afternoon.

"Land of the Lost"!!! Sleestacks!!!! :guffaw: Thanks for the memory!

I'm thinking I need to get a Hardy Boys DVD from Netflix now. Dying to go back in the wayback machine! I remember hating it on the weeks they showed Nancy Drew instead. And then they dropped her altogether, didn't they?

Oh yes, I read all the books. We lived around the corner from the library, and sometimes I'd spend a Saturday afternoon in there and read a whole book in a sitting.

My mother worked in a public library when I was growing up. I've read all the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and Bobsey Twins books. I owned a few Nancy Drew but not many. I always liked The Hardy Boys better, they had more action in them. I remember that they always used to switch back and forth between Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew on TV, but I think there were more episodes of Hardy Boys. I also remember being disappointed when it was a Nancy Drew week.

Yeah I preferred The Hardy Boys myself!

But I loved the Bionic Woman!

"Land of the Lost"!!! Sleestacks!!!! :guffaw: Thanks for the memory!

OMG, my brother and I watched that show all the time. It was so cheesy, but I loved it.

There was some cable station showing reruns of it.

I also remember growing up watching The Gigglesnort Hotel that was on Sunday mornings. I loved watching the guy create using the clay. Now I can't remember what the clay guys name was, I think it was Blob, but I'm not sure.

I watched The Bionic Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man.

I loved Starskey and Hutch, still watch reruns. Those two had great chemistry and were hilarious at times.

Oh and how can we forget The Love Boat and Fantasy Island? Especially when a guest on Fantasy Island just came from The Love Boat.

How about Charlie's Angels and Baretta?

Oh the memories.

OH I loved The Love Boat and Fantasy Island! Yeah the crossovers were so cool!

Yep, loved Charlie's Angels and Baretta! I actually liked CA better when Farrah left.

 I remember Starsky and Hutch coming on one night and my mom walked by while the credits and the funky music were playing, and she said, "You're not watching anything with something called a Huggy Bear in it!!"

Huggy Bear!! Loved him! Never missed Starsky and Hutch. I found myself on youtube the other night looking at old commercials (and tv shows). My sister is going to be an 80s rock star for Halloween and she was calling me for ideas, and we had started talking about old commercials. She was singing one to her 4 and 2 year old kids and said they were looking at her like she was crazy. Of course, she was just a toddler in the 80s while I was a teenager. We have very different memories of the 80s.

I loved Starsky and Hutch. I liked Starsky more than Hutch though. There was just something rebellious about him :) Yeah Huggy Bear was good.

Another show from that era that I enjoyed was Vega$ with Robert Urich  now he was good eye candy. He got his start on SWAT and then was in Soap for one year. He was also good in Spenser. What was surprising in Spenser was Avery Brooks. He was good as Hawk but then to see him as Captain Sisko on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was unbelievable. The sign of a good actor. It took me awhile to realize that the actors were the same person.

Speaking of Huggy Bear reminds me of Rooster on Baretta and Sporty James on Hunter.

I was going to say that too...about Rooster.

Cap'n Jacquie, I didn't care for Vegas, but I loved SWAT! I liked Mark Shera, second from the left. :adore:

And am I the only one who thinks of this when they see Dynacula's name?

This thread is killing me! :guffaw:

LOL this thread is cracking me up! I just got caught up.

Missie - I loved the Nancy Drew books. I think there still may be some in my parents basement. I would read those all the time.

U2 was the first concert I remember going to in high school. I THINK it was the Joshua Tree tour.
