The 30 and Over Club

Yes I'm enjoying this thread as well. What a better way to relive our past crushes :guffaw:

Oh yes I liked Mark Shera. Wonders what he's doing now. He was good in Barnaby Jones.

Barnaby Jones!!!! :guffaw:

A quick search for Mark Shera shows he's apparently not doing much since playing "Bruce from Nebraska, a radio caller" in a 2002 movie.

Cap'n Jacquie, I didn't care for Vegas, but I loved SWAT! I liked Mark Shera, second from the left. :adore:

And am I the only one who thinks of this when they see Dynacula's name?

This thread is killing me! :guffaw:

SWAT and Vega$ were definately favorites. I loved Robert Urich. Also loved Magnum PI, CHIPS, Battlestar Galactica and Space 1999 to name a few. I had my list of shows each night of the week that I couldn't miss. My how things change. If I see CSI each Thursday night I'm happy!

Smokey would you believe I have that Dynamite magazine somewhere. I found it in a box a month ago or so. :alienblush: I saved anything that had Star Wars in it.

Chewbacca and Shaun Cassidy!! :guffaw: It's great that you still have it. I wish I still had all my stuff.

I'm thinking about that Hardy Boys episode where Joe's fiance died, and how we didn't even know he had a girlfriend and then in one episode there she was and they were getting married and then she died! I guess I didn't care so much about continuity then! Imagine if that happened on CSI one week.

:goes to browse old Tiger Beats on eBay: :D

I actually read the Hardy Boys, but not Nancy Drew. I used to bring them home from the library, and my dad would read them after I did! :)

Do you guys remember The Hudson Brothers show on Saturday mornings? H&R Puff n' Stuff? Witchiepoo? My favourite cartoon was Battle of the Planets though, bar none! I had a crush on Jason, the one that drove the car. It's so funny to think I had crushes on cartoons- I also had a thing for Prince Phillip in "Sleeping Beauty". (In fact, since they have just released it on DVD, I may need to pick that up... )

I never read Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys. I tried many times but I just couldn't get into. My oldest sister use to read Nancy Drew. I did watch the tv shows though.

My first selection of books that I really enjoyed, and I still have them, were the Anne of Green Gables books. I loved those books.

Oh I loved the Hudson Brothers Show :guffaw:H&R Puff n' Stuff was a fabulous show and I loved that as well :)

Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew? We had a vast collection of books in our home library. My Mom bought for us a lot of books including Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. Speaking of books, I loved reading my Dr. Seuss collection way back when. But what I could never forget enjoying reading were the Fairy Books by Andrew Lang (Green Fairy Book, Blue Fairy Book, Red Fairy Book, etc., etc.) Anybody else ever read those books?

For books, as an elementary schooler I was way into Ramona Quimby and Nancy Carlson books. I remember her coming to our school, sitting in the librarian's big rocking chair to read to us - it was very memorable.

As a young teenager I was really into the Sweet Valley High series. I remember going to the library and reading them kind of clandestinely - I don't remember if I didn't have a library card and was too shy to ask for one, or thought I needed my parents' permission, or what that was all about.

My best friend loved reading Beverly Cleary's books.

Heee, I loved reading the SVH series. I also read the Sweet Dreams books. I still have them at home. I also loved reading books by Judy Blume. Her books were really hilarious and quite in tune with how teenagers really are.

"Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret" are a couple classic Judy Blume books. Once I hit my pre-teens though, I was heavy duty into "Sweet Dreams" novels- sort of like Harlequins for young girls. There were two I still remember loving too- "P.S. I Love You" and "The Throughbred". Man, I haven't thought of those in years... :)

Does anyone remember a show that was on briefly called "The Powers of Matthew Star"? Man I had a crush on Peter Barton. I think I saw him years later on a soap opera, but it just wasn't the same. sigh...

Oh man I remember Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume books. I read Judy Blume all the time as well. Wow - all these memories.

I think I'm about the only person I know who never read Judy Blume.

But how could I forget about Dynomite!? I read that all the time when I was in grade school. Used to buy it through the book program they had at school. I wonder if they still do that? No idea where my magazines are anymore, but probably the same place as my Shaun Cassidy album and Bionic Woman doll.

Btw, has anyone ever seen toys from their childhood at "antique" stores? How depressing is that?!?

I never read Judy Blume or those Sweet Valley High books. I think those were for people in the "Over 30 but Under 40 Club".

I haven't seen my stuff in antique stores, but I've seen some on eBay. One board game was up for bid at 99 cents....with $23 for shipping! :wtf: People are idiots.

BTW, my Hardy Boys DVD came from Netflix today! :guffaw:

I haven't seen any toys or things like that in an antique store but that's because I try not to go into antique stores. It's depressing seeing things you don't own anymore and how much they're worth now. When I was in college I saw a show on TV that was showing how much some things from childhood were worth. They were showing these metal lunch boxes and I was staring at them saying 'but I don't have mine any more'.

I read Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary when I was a kid but I was mostly into science fiction. By the time I was in 5th grade my mother was getting adult science fiction out at the library for me (Arther C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov & Star Trek mostly), I was bored with the nearly non-existant selection in the childrens room. By the time I was in Junior High I was reading Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels. These days I head back into the childrens room because there's a whole selection of science fiction that didn't exist when I was a kid. I love the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. By the way my mother was a public librarian and my father was the director of the board of library commissioners for the state. We grew up reading in this house.

ZombieMouse, they do still have the school book programs (at least around here) but they don't sell Dynomite in them anymore.

I used to LOVE it when we got those order forms for books and posters!

I have to admit, I went straight from Nancy Drew to Stephen King, starting with Carrie. Of course, I also spent hours at the library researching term papers on UFOs, life after death, and satanism. I went to Catholic school, so I must have been compensating for something!
