The 30 and Over Club

I wasn't able to decorate my walls as I shared my bedroom with my older sisters. If I had been allowed to decorate my walls they would have had posters of David Soul, Lee Majors and Robert Urich to name a few. I remember when I was a store major we decorated the bathroom with pictures of Patrick Swayze :) this was of course after seeing Dirty Dancing one too many times :)

OMG! :guffaw:

I'm sitting here watching Brothers and Sisters, and two of the characters are cleaning out the garage and found a Shaun Cassidy album and are arguing over whose album it was. Da Doo Run was mentioned too. Right after I finally get it out of my head!

As I said previously, my sister and I were big DURANis. Her bedroom walls were covered with John Taylor posters as well as that of the band's. My bedroom walls were covered with Simon LeBon's posters. I think I had one of Rick Springfield's as well. Speaking of Brothers and Sisters, I had a poster of Rob Lowe as well. I still think he's hot! Damn, he still looks good after all these years. My sister and I are currently going through our The West Wing marathon and we were just talking about how handsome Rob Lowe still is and that if ever we were talking to him as Sam Seaborn, anything he would have said to us would have just flown through our heads since we would probably just be staring at him. Kinda like having a blonde moment if you will (no offense meant).

Um... I almost don't want to ask, but am I the only one whose walls were covered with New Kids on the Block?

My favorite was Danny  Although as I recall, I had to say my favorite was Jon b/c one of my friends had already claimed Danny for her own.

Hee, I think I was the only one who wasn't crazy about them among my girlfriends. :p But damn, their music was effing catchy!

I did have an album cover from an 80's band called Mr. Mister that my mom got me up there too.

I actually have one of their songs on my iPod. Kyrie, do you guys remember that one?

Rob Lowe looks even better now then he did in the 80s, IMO. :D

I used to have that Mr Mister album! I completely remember Kyrie. I've been having a little flashback night tonight. Listening to ..yeah...Shaun Cassidy.

Oh most definitely! Now, he looks so distinguished but damn, he's still got that baby face that looks like he can do no wrong.

The funny thing is, that song just came up on shuffle as well as a few Duran Duran songs. :p

I had a big crush on John Taylor. I never went to a Duran Duran concert though. When I was about 16, they were in concert about 2 hours from me. A friend's mom was going to take her and offered to take me too. My mom said no. :brickwall: She wouldn't even let me use the car to go see Rocky Horror Picture show when I was 18 because it was at midnight. I had a deprived childhood.

I had a big crush on John Taylor.

You too? My bedroom walls were cover with John Taylor and Duran Duran. You couldn't even see the walls anymore.

Lets see, my first concert was Rick Springfield. I saw him a few times. It was when he was on General Hospital, so I was in Junior high at the time.

Others I've seen in concert were:
Duran Duran (3 times)
INXS (4 times in one year)
The Power Station
The Cure (twice)
The Cult (really bad concert, they barely played an hour)
Cheap Trick (opened for INXS)
Love & Rockets
Midnight Oil (they had this awesome Aborighine band to open, they were awesome and some of the Midnight Oil group came out to the souvenirs stand, I thought that was cool)
Glass Tiger, Joan Jett (was a multi-group concert)
Elton John (went more as an adult)
N-Sync (took my God-Daughter and her sister. My cousin, their mother, wasn't going to go. And no I wasn't a fan of N-Sync, but they did have a really good concert)

Wow, I see two fellow Duran Duran fans... My crush wasn't so much John Taylor but Simon LeBon(of course) and Nick Taylor.... My walls were filled with them also with Rick Springfield. Never went to any concerts in my teens though. My parents won't let me outside the base we were stationed at. My first concert was Dave Matthews Band which didn't happened until *later* in my life:lol:.

Didn't Mister Mr. also sing Broken Wings? "Take these broken wings... and learn to fly again, learn to live so free..."

I was in university when NKOTB came out so... they seemed a little young for me at the time, I think.

I never had the Patrick Swayze crush, but around the same time I think Sixteen Candles came out and me and all my friends were totally gaga over "Jake Ryan", also known as Michael Schoeffling... sigh...

Yeah they were. That was a great song too.

Well I was a rock 'n' roll child and my parents would not let me see a concert until I was like 15. The first band I saw was Poison, with Lita Ford and Brittney Fox (not Spears) :p. After that I got to go to a lot of concerts, Whitesnake, Scorpions, Winger, Extreme, Def Leppard, etc. I remember when I was in 8th grade that I wanted to see Bon Jovi and my parents said I was too young but my older brothers got to see them. And to this day I have not seen Bon Jovi and still blame my parents.:guffaw:

Don't you mean Nick Rhodes? Or were you referring to Roger Taylor? Or maybe you were referring to Andy Taylor. I think you were referring to Roger since he's hotter than Nick Rhodes and Andy.

Ah Jake Ryan...Now he made my heart melt. Michael Schoeffling? I loved him in Mermaids with Winona Ryder and Cher. He really was something as Jake Ryan though. I read an article somewhere about whatever happened to him. Check out this article about Men Not Being Able to Hold A Match to Jake Ryan.

Who DIDN'T love Shaun Cassidy? Oh, that Joe Hardy... Sigh... I remember the episode where his fiance gets killed in a car crash. Man, the things that you remember!

Things you remember...no kidding! Today I heard "If" by Bread on the radio, which was the song in that episode, and yep...that's exactly what I thought of when I heard it! :guffaw: And man, that was what....criminy....30 years ago!!!?? That is totally not possibly. :shifty:

Bread? Oh my! I still hear their songs on the radio from time to time. I don't know why but my cousins and I love singing their songs on karaoke. Probably because we usually drink while we do karaoke. :p

Oh wow- good memory. That's crazy. I don't remember "If" playing, but my memory is slightly skewed... I seem to recall one where Joe goes missing too, and he's been kidnapped or something- was that part of the same storyline? All I know is, I had 2 Shaun Cassidy albums (The Da Doo Run album and this other white one, where he's wearing a black and white scarf on the cover) and boy was I madly in love with the guy. I have even sort of kept an eye on his career over the years, and was pleased to find he writes a lot of weird sci-fi stuff, which I love. :)

I was denied seeing The Police play for their Synchronicity tour (too young- arg!) and then they broke up! Needless to say, when the reunion tour came around this time, I got me some tickets right away! In fact, I saw their very first show, since I live in Vancouver, and then I saw them again about a month or so later at Wrigley field in Chicago. Very cool stuff. And now my life is complete!

Well my mom took me to see Shaun Cassidy when I was eight years old. It was pretty good.

And then I saw Michael Jackson, Duran Duran at Maple Leaf Gardens, Madonna, Glass Tiger, Gowan (Canadians would know who he was) at Ontario Place.

I was a HUGE, HUGE Duran Duran fan and theeen..I discovered the loves of my life U2!!!! The Joshua Tree album hooked me and I've been a devoted fan since.

I remember because my brother made fun of everything during the whole episode while I got madder and madder at him for disturbing my TV time!

That other episode was a different one where they were in Japan. I remember it was on when I had my friends over for a slumber party. As I recall, my brother had fun hooting at that one too. :shifty:

Oh that's so funny- I remember my brother teasing me during the kidnapping episode too! He kept saying (because I was hidden deep in my chair while I watched) "Are you crying over there? Are you crying because Joe's in danger?" What a jerk. I seem to recall my dad telling him to leave me alone, though. We all watched the Hardy Boys together- my parents liked it, even.

I too saw Gowan live! And The Parachute Club (another one for the Canadians)!!!

I'm a big U2 fan too. War was their first big album for me. :)
