Supernatural #3 - No Chick Flick Moments

I wonder if the ham was a shout-out to Canada as our Thanksgiving was a few days ago?

As for the episode as a whole, when I first heard of the synopsis for the episode, I thought we'd get a recycled 'Bedtime Stories' episode with the way they explained it but it came out totally different -- it leaned more toward urban legends than fairy tales which was awesome. I was sort of missing the 'monster of the week' and 'urban legends' stuff so I like whenever they balance it with mythology.

Hands-down favourite part of the episode was Castiel sitting on the whoopee cushion. Misha does so great with the material he gets, no matter if it's comedy or angst.

When Sam and Dean were talking to the kid after the demon left, did anyone else think "Tell the kid to turn the angel back!"? I was getting a little worried there for a minute.

It's great that there's a bit of a human edge to Castiel -- he seemed generally upset with what he had to do to the kid. Seems he's a bit more of a bleeding heart than the other angels.

Aw we missed classic rock this week. :( Totally bummed about that. Here's to hoping they throw in at least one song per episode sometime during the rest of the season.

Oh and I was watching 'Dogma' yesterday and I was very amused with the amount of similarities between Supernatural's apocalypse and that movie's apocalypse.

Have y'all seen some of the SPN artwork on deviantART.com? There's chibi Castiel, and realistic Castiels too (here too). Yep, I focus on Castiel. :adore:

There's also this group drawing, this one of Dean, and this one, and this one. And don't forget about digital art!

Here's an excellent Sam colored pencil drawing. It was even given a Daily Deviation (it was featured to the deviantART community for a day). Here's a black & white drawing too.

I swear, I'm not trying to spam. This artwork, as far as I can tell, isn't for sale. It's just posted on an art site so people can see it and comment on it. So... has anyone seen these?

And Bloody Mary, I was very impressed with Misha's range as an actor in this episode. He was almost venomous when he stared Sam straight in the eyes and said that he'd made the wrong choice, then he was hilariously stoic with the whoopee cushion, then he was impressively conflicted and remorseful when he pulled the knife on the anti-Christ kid. Misha's awesome!

Did anyone else love Dean's "it'll get stuck that way" face? It was funny, but also a little tragic... such a pretty, pretty face shouldn't be contorted so!

Oh absolutely. :D He's always so interesting to watch on screen because of the depth he brings to the character and it's probably one of the reasons he's become so popular among the fandom.

I was thinking to myself 'that'll become many an icon' when he made the face.

Love the Supernatural art on Deviant Art! They're so talented, I'm always blown away.

That was some amazing artwork. So beautiful. I wish I could draw like that. Alas, I draw more like Tony from NCIS- stick people. :p

That was a great face made by him, though. And I love that he got worried his face actually would stick that way... haha.

Misha is an amazing actor. I love seeing him work on this show, as well as other shows/movies. He can be intense, serious, funny... and he can do yoga. ;P

I liked the urban legends too. :D

Alliance- cool city name. :)

Itching powder is ground up maple seeds? I didn't know that.

Dean: That'll do pig.

Sam rolling his eyes at Dean.

Man, they scared the magic guy silly.

Little Girl: So, some freak is gonna come in my room and take my tooth? No thank you.

Dean: The sense of humor of a nine year old.
Sam: Or you.

No comment on Dean and that hair on his hand. This is a PG-13 board afterall.

Sam: What's that?
Jesse: It's called soup. You heat it up and eat it.

 the look on Sam's face when dean touched him with the buzzer. I used to have one of those. It just tickled a little.

Tooth fairy looks like Belushi.

Willy Wonka's worst nightmare.

Cas sitting on the whoopie cushion. :guffaw: "That wasn't me." :guffaw:

Okay, when the boy shrunk Cas, did anyone else expect Dean to say: "Sammy he shrunk the angel."

Wasn't originally this ep supposed to contain a phone call from one of the boys' ex gfs to which they were alerted about the boy with the special powers?

^^ I don't know.

I didn't think about the shrunken angel, I just thought, "I so want one"...

That little girl was cute, though. :D

I never had one of those buzzer things... it's better that way, though. I was mischievous enough as it was.

...and he can do yoga. ;P

You wouldn't happen to be referring to his guest role in Nip/Tuck, would you? :guffaw:

I would be :guffaw: :guffaw:

I wonder how many of those toy Castiels they made, and how much they'd charge me for one?

Loved the old 'urban legend' feel to this episode, but also how they tied it to the bigger story line.

Overall, it was really just a great episode :D

It definitely was a great episode! I loved Dean with the ham. After he electrocuted it I immediately thought: Oh hey, I bet that's his lunch  Haha, that was really funny. Also Dean with the Belushi reference  Funny.

And man, I want a toy Cas. :p

They don’t literally check into Seattle Grace. ABC would never allow that. Instead, the Nov. 5 episode — appropriately titled “Changing Channels — finds the brothers Winchester trapped in some very familiar TV settings. In addition to their Grey’s Anatomy cameo (pictured), Sam and Dean cross over into a CSI-type series as well as a traditional sitcom. Word on the street is that the cheeky Grey’s bit features several nods to the actual ABC drama, including one that Supe fans will find particularly amusing. Guesses?

Well besides the fact that I think they're going to be teddy bear doctors :p Who else thinks it would be awesome if Jeffrey Dean Morgan was involved!?

I was thinking.. maybe a McDreamy/McSteamy reference. That would be funny. I actually followed Grey's Anatomy for a while.. but then it got boring. :p Well, at least I thought so.

Haha, Teddy Bear doctors. Could be, could be. :p

I hope its JDM. As for McDreamy/McSteamy, I would think Sam would be dreamy and Dean would be steamy because well... McSteamy (not that I watch Greys) is the one who is sort of the bad boy/ladies man and that sort of fits Dean while Dreamy is the one who just looks so wholesome, but handsome, which fits Sam. And Cas would be McAngelic or McHeavenly. Maybe they'll do a bit with Sam having sex with ghostly Jess. like the Denny/Izzy thing.

I wonder if they will do a talkshow type of skit where they reveal secrets to each other and Dean's is "I slept with an angel" and Sam's is "I slept with a demon".

I think it would be funny if they got caught in a Lost World/Primeval type of show where there are dinos running around. Can you imagine Dean being chased by T-Rex? That would be hysterical! It would be funny too if they were trapped in a Lifetime movie type of skit and a sci-fi channel (I refuse to call that channel by its new name) weekend movie type of thing too. Or a Space show like Star Trek/Stargate. And a cartoon... come on now, they have to do a little cartoon skit for us. S, D and C would be some hot cartoon characters.

Heroes/Buffy type of thing would be cool too. :imagines Dean in leather trenchcoat ala Spike:

OK, so I've been reading some complaints about people not liking shows with the story arcs that run in the background (like Supernatural) and while I personally love that stuff, I guess I can see how some people would prefer one off storylines. Anyway, I loaned out my season 1 DVD's to this guy I work with and he said it has just started to get interesting to him, now that he's at the part where the background story with their dad and chasing yellow eyes had started to appear more. :) He said he wasn't sure if he liked it at first, but now he's getting into it. He just watched Home and really liked it- yay! That's one of my faves. :)

Sorry, just wanted to add a sidenote on the creation of new fans for Supernatural.

^ As long as the story arc keeps me interested, I'm game. I didn't really care for the 'Sammy needs to be saved' story from the second season. Even now when I wanna rewatch epi's, I'll only choose eps of which I know they have only little to do with the general story arc.

As for this season (and last season), I'm loving it. And I partly blame Misha for it :p

Yeah me too. :D I got kinda annoyed by the whole Sam is/will be evil thing and almost stopped watching :)eek:) but then Misha got some funny lines! I really think Misha makes the show a little more.. fun.
