Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

Not gonna lie, I am pretty doubtful that we'll see RAYD released in the US. It is such a sensitive subject matter...and being from where I am (see location, :)) I don't see it faring well in the box office.

However, that's not to say I wouldn't see it if it did come out. I just think if it does, it's going to be awhile. And because of that I am tempted to buy the reg. 2 dvd anyway.

Rory is supposedly amazing in the film (just as he is in everything else) and I am not going to miss out.

Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

when isn't he amazing? i mean come on! it's impossible for him to not be amazing. critics say about some of his movies that the movie sucked but Rory was amazing. so he can even make a crappy movie good.

I can't see the subject matter being a reason it wouldn't gross much tbh, there are other more harrowing films that are based on real life events that have been mainstream.

I mean it was released here and we've had more than our fair share of terrorism over the last 30/40 years.

The distrubtors/production companys probably didn't think it was good enough. Thats not a knock to Rory but 95% of underground/independant films don't cross over to the mainstream cinematic audience

Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

*wonders back in*

Oh my I have neglected this thread for like...months. I'm such a bad Rory fan. I completley forgot about 'The Company' and now I can't wait for it! Teehee!

Oh my goodness a while back I was watching Empire Records with my friend and she was like "oh he's cute" meaning Lucas of course and I was like "Yeah. That' Rory" and she didn't believe me so a few days ago me and her were watching Extreme I believe it waa on A&E and she was like "That Speed guys pretty cute" and I was like "That's Rory Cochrane. Ya know Lucas from Empire Records." and she didn't believe me so she looked on my box set box and then she looked back at the screen and was like "Awwww Lucas is allgrown up"

....It was funny. Kinda had to be there.

Anyways, I'll try not to neglect this thread so much anymore. I just wanted to come and share that with y'all.

Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

not sure...i think earlier we said that BBC might pick it up later. if not it should come out on DVD. most Mini-Series do.

Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

I've just been onto the BBC website and had a little search about and found this

The BBC has acquired the epic action thriller, The Company, from Alchemy Television Group, the media company specialising in the financing, production and distribution of event television.

Based on Robert Littell's hard-hitting novel about the CIA, The Company is set to air on BBC Two later next year.

Written by Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), the series is being directed by Mikael Salomon (Rome, Band of Brothers) and produced by director Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions with Sony for TNT.

The six x 60-minute series stars Hollywood actor Chris O'Donnell as Jack McAuliffe, the fictional hero caught in the dark underside of the American Intelligence community.

The story, which spans a 30-year period from the Cold War to the first Gulf War, includes both genuine events and characters.

The Company's stellar cast also includes Alfred Molina, Michael Keaton, Alessandro Nivola, Natasha McElhone and Tom Hollander.

George McGhee, Controller of Programme Acquisitions, BBC Television, said: "I am delighted that we will be showing this slick mini-series on BBC Two.

"It has a wonderful cast, great production talent and is a perfect complement to our own BBC dramas. It promises to be a nail-biting watch."

Alchemy's Nick Witkowski said: "We are thrilled that The Company, which should prove to be the event mini-series of 2007, will be shown on the BBC which will guarantee it will get the audience and attention it deserves. We are also delighted to be in business with the BBC and hope to deliver more event titles in the future."

Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

So, I've always thought that Wannabe was the best Speed episode. That fact has been re-affirmed in my mind now, because I was preparing to put up the next poll, and realized that between the list Geni posted, and the one I came up with while re-watching the show when I got home from work this afternoon, I have 44 Speedisms from that episode.
Yes, that's right. 44. Forty-four. On average, I get about 6 an episode. I don't think I've ever had more than 10 for an episode.

Now, obvioiusly, that's a lot to choose from in one poll, especially if combined with another episode, like usual. So, here's what we're going to do. Money for Nothing will temporarily be put on hold, and I'll pair it up with Deadline when we get to it. For now, I'm splitting Wannabe into three polls, two days of voting each as usual. I'll put the second one up as soon as the first is finished, and same for the next one.

Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

I voted: Suit yourself, Princess, but if you find anything foreign you're gonna have to do them all.

and

Sorry, next time I'll ask the victim to die in one spot.

Re: Speed/Rory #15: Perfection in Pants

i voted for the same ones...i love his remarks!

i feel like such a cheater right now. :p i couldn't wait that long for the mini-series to come out so i got the book. hey, at least i'll understand whats going on better. :D
