Bringing Eddie Cibrian on the show is a really bad move, in my opinion. Let's be honest about this: TPTB only brought this guy on the show to be eye candy (in his second episode he takes his shirt off to stop someone from bleeding. That's the cliché move of an eye candy type of male character) and a replacement because of Eric. Which is stupid because the team could go on without a new colleague. They only solve a crime per episode (or day, whatever) and a team of four people is enough (counting with H). Only in Las Vegas and NY they need a big team because they sometimes solve two crimes in one episode/day. For them, it makes sense. For Miami, not so much.
I seriously have this feeling that with the Eddie Cibrian on the show, we'll see other important characters that don't appear as much as they should (Ryan, Natalia, Frank) a lot less than we already have and they won't get the storylines they deserve. And I swear, if this happens, Miami is going loose me as a faithful watcher. I already watch the show basically because of Ryan/Jon (since the writers are fans of plotholes, unbelievable plots and Horatio 'I'm-the-hero-damnit!' Caine moments) so if he appears less than 10min in a 45min episode, I'm going to be royally p*ssed with someone and move on to something else.
I have to say it is refreshing to see that people agree with me that bringing Eddie in is a bad idea overall. I am gonna miss Adam sooo much but this show, as someone said, is teetering on the brink imo and that is soooo very evident in their desire to "go back" and try and make things the way they were. They are depserate imo and I think it is going to hurt them. And unfortunately Adam was a casualty of all that and I think that is why he was a casualty. It was just a matter of a "wrong place, wrong time." His contract was up and they obviously wanted to find a way to "freshen" things up. They honestly expect us to believe that Adam all of a sudden up and decided to leave...when in fact he has said on his twitter page that he didn't want to leave... and that Eddie is not his replacement? TPTB are trying too hard to rebuild this show in some way and get us to believe things that we can obviously see the holes in!
Vegas lost a ton of viewers when they lost Peterson and overloaded the season with Fishbourne....their ratings slipped and pissed off a lot of loyal and long time watchers. I understand that actors want to move on and hell, I wish all of them the best b/c yeah after a while you must feel the need to expand and grow as an actor....I just don't think that that happened with Adam 100%. I think he wanted to try new things but I don't think he wanted to leave the show completely. I also think that the decision for him to leave came before last season ended. The actors knew what the seaosn premiere was going to be about before the finale aired and Donnahue said it herself in the last issue of CSI Magazine (which went on sale July 21st so it went to publication when? sometime in June?) that the first
4 episodes had already been sent to the network for approval....first 4 eps pretty much set up ep 5 which is Eric's departure ep. Coincidence? I think NOT! Because soon after that, on June 24th, they announced Eddie was joining the cast. :shifty: Add everything up....everything everyone has said thus far and things done thus far and it all concludes to; this was decided before it was actually spoken about...at least that is my opinion.
The writers have totally screwed things up and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if someone else were to walk before the season is through. Given her comments and overall demeanor about Adam's departure....she didn't seem happy how things were handled with him so I personally think Emily will be the next to go. Her contract was either up at the end of last season or IS up at the end of Decemeber....there has been zero mention of her signing a new contract with the show and you would think with Adam leaving the show would want to reassure the viewers who is sticking around and who isn't!! Not to mention the E! article where they quote her as saying "I think we were in some poor contract negotiations." Honestly I don't know what to believe anymore....and what to trust anymore.
I think overall this move with Eddie in and Adam out is going to hurt this show. The fact that his character seems to be getting ALOT of attention early on tells me there will be nothing subtle done with him. Which means other characters will put on the back burner as usual.
I think the chemistry will be off all around....I just don't see this as being a positive move. And I definately don't see them learning anything from LV's mistakes. In fact I think they are making the same one and are just crossing their fingers that what happened to LV doesn't happen to them. I also do not like the way they are writing out such an integral and popular character....it seems cheap and lame. I mean I feel like the writers are just being like "screw the last 7 years you gave the show....here is your walk away alone exit."
I mean c'mon the guy gave you 7 years...give him a proper send off....one he deserves. From revised spoilers for 806 it sounds like that Eric didn't tell anyone other than H and possibly Calleigh that he was leaving!! !
There is a scene where Jesse asks Natalia why Eric left and she says she didn't know, he didn't say goodbye!! Jesse says he thought they were friends and Natalia replies she thought so too. So it might be safe to say that Ryan and Frank didn't know he was leaving either. And I don't even know for sure Calleigh knew he left....although she makes a comment to the effect that she did know but who knows if that hasn't changed!! WTF is going on??
I think that they should have let the team go w/o someone else on the team for a time to show how close the team is/was and to show stress (ya know actual dramatic emotions) before throwing someone else in and expecting us to simply accept them. B/c I really feel like with the way the writers are introducing Jesse, they expect us to just accept that he is there and that Eric is gone. I am going to see what happens with Jesse and give him a chance but I don't like Eddie as an actor so....
I just read Emily's interview in TV Guide magazine and while she seems excited about the upcoming season...I feel like she is laying it on a little thick and seems down and off with regards to the Eric/Calleigh romance. I mean obviously she might be a little upset b/c of Adam's departure. But in the past she was always bubbly and excited about it....in this interview she just seems to
say things about it. The character, as she describes her, seem off too. Hard to explain....if someone else read the article, please point out your opinion on it and tell me if I am just looking too hard at it.
Am I bitter...hell yeah b/c of the way the writers and producers have treated someone who gave them 7 years of commitment and hard work. I know Hollywood can be cut throat and that nothing is set in stone there but still.....I think this was handled poorly and it didn't have to be. Hello Rory fiasco!!
Oh and btw, on a happy note, Adam will be joining the cast of Ugly Betty for 5 eps with the possibility of doing more.
Don't know if I see him in a comedy but hey, good for him
