Also from the upfronts and Nina Tassler, from ew.com:

Tassler also addressed the departure of Laurence Fishburne and admitted that he had “very big shoes to fill” when he first joined CSI and how the pressure will be on Ted Danson when he assumes the role of D.B. Russell this season. “The departure of Billy Peterson was impactful, and ironically, you look at how fragmented the team was when Langston came in. He sort of churned things up a bit. So when D.B Russell comes in, he really has to really reconnect the team and bring them back together, assert his authority.”
I wonder if she meant to say "and ironically, when Langston came in he made it worse; he sort of churned things up a bit." Because I don't think the team was all that fragmented when Ray joined. My take, anyway.

When Ray came on, Grissom had just left, Sara was still gone, Catherine was just made supervisor, Riley was still trying to gel with the team, and they were still hurting from Warrick's death . Sounds pretty fragmented to me.

How does Catherine being promoted and hurting from Warrick's death equal "fragmented?" Hell, how does two members being gone equal the rest of the team being "fragmented?"

It's CBS' day at the Television Critics Association get together today and for the first time since 2006, CSI will be having a panel. Members on the panel will include: Ted Danson, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads, Carol Mendelsohn, and Don McGill.

Though I'm happy to see that George is part of the panel (we better get some pictures :shifty:), but why did they even bother? They obviously don't think he could carry the show so...

In any case, I'm very interested in what they all have to say. :D

And if it is all about Danson and his new character  then it'll probably be stuff we've already heard.

However, I'm glad Shane is there and will twitter live. :D Love getting details as it happens.

Geez Louise. jtd94 gave her take and I gave mine. Why does everything I say result in a freakin' smackdown? I'm starting to get a complex. :scream:

The whole purpose of Grissom's final scene was that he was leaving the lab in good hands and people were continuing to do their jobs, and he had a qualified replacement coming in. In fact, the rest of season 9 was overdone with how well they were 'bonding' as a team. What happened after that is anybody's speculation.

Asking questions is a "freakin' smackdown?" Wow. :wtf:

General reminder to everyone not one person in particular....but please take a step back and cool it. We're just talking CSI here. Nothing to get all riled up about. Thanks!

And Shane is blogging the panel live now. Look for his updates in the News File. Sounds like things are going great there! :)

I know Shane will be live blogging, but I had to share this From TVGuide's Twitter:

Eads says Danson's presence has reinvigorated the set. He's excited to come to work again #CSI

Do I detect a hint of gushing?

I checked out the clip up at EW.com, and I kind of went "awww".

I like the part from the panel where Marg said that this will be her last season then George and Ted came back with "Not if we can help it."

Thanks, Shane. Great job!
Short, but sweet.
I think Danson will fit in nicely. I hope the 'gushing' is kept to a minimum though.

Thanks! Also, TV Guide has this little tidbit:

Will Keck:
George Eads tells me while playing golf with Billy Petersen he told him he has agreed to come back this season to help with Marg's #CSI exit

Yup, I know Marg said that her and Billy talked privately about her last episode and that he would come back for it, during the 250th episode party.

I'm glad to hear another person confirm it. I miss my Grissom.

Also glad to hear that those two are still playing golf together. After all Petersen was very much a mentor to George. :)
