well you cant really have the life and crimes of john dillinger without a shoot out or two :p there were some reviews i read, where the critic wrote "the car chase scenes werent exciting enough" and im thinking "uummm....they are 1930s cars, what do you expect??"

Ice Age 3 - Dawn of the Dinosaurs (3D)
Hmpf. I expected more of the 3D effects (which was the primary reason we went to see it). The story was overpredictable and cliché, plot was dull and the same jokes from Ice Age 1 and 2 were re-used, making it even less funny. I just feel like they could've done much more with this 3D evolution.

Only funny moment: when the austrich-like bird put its head in the sand when the earthquake starts, baby austrich-like bird wants to copy its mommy and bangs it head against the ground. :p

oh yeah, i know, i just wish the action scenes had been better coordinated, they could've been spectacular but they seemed a bit half arsed.

actually the cars were my favourite bits! i thought it was quite cool to have car chases with half the people hanging off the running boards - they wouldn't get away with that these days, health and safety would go mental

Clue- love this movie!! love Madeline Kahn in anything she is in she was fabulous as always. i own the dvd but haven't watched it in years so my friends and i popped it and just laughed through the whole thing.

Shadow of a Doubt- good Hitchcock movies but to me not one of his best. this is Hitchcock's fave movie which after some explaination i can see why: chaos brought into a quiet home and town. it was just weird to see Joseph Cotton as the chaos when he was the good guy in "Gaslight".

PUBLIC ENEMIES the bio. in part of 30's gangster John Dillinger. Johnny Depp, [who I admire] was him and he must have been a very boring character. He was lack-luster, a bit dull and devious, and had the same expression throughout the movie. Depp was so much more animated and exciting in "Pirates" John Dillinger, was a cunning, dismal con-man to the bone. And was and very smart and very shrewd. He could break out of any high security jail and did. He drove Melvin Purvis the FBI agent played by Christian Bale to the brink of insanity. He was outstanding. The cars and graphics, and cinematography of the day and Chicago, were fantastic. I loved the sound track and the old songs of Billie Holiday, bewitching. I don't want to give away any of the movie for those who haven't seen it. Go see it and report you opinions on what you think~

City of Ember - I had been wanting to see this movie for a really long time. I hardly ever just sit down and watch a movie though, so this one sat on the shelf for about two months before I finally got around to seeing it. I loved the book that it's based off of and was a little worried that the movie just wouldn't do it any justice. However, I felt the film was just as good or even better. A lot of movies get drastically changed when they go from the print to the screen, but Ember stayed almost one hundred percent true to the original story. It pretty much bombed at the box office (didn't even make $8 million) but that's because I don't think anyone knew what it was about. It's a little hard to follow at the beginning if you don't know what's going on, but it gets better at explaining things as it goes along. Anyway, I thought it was great, even if it was a little corny and kid friendly at some points.

Asphalt Jungle- very good movie. this was a precursor to Trantino movies and all the bank robbery-type movies. Jean Hagen from "Singin in the Rain" was phenomenal. Marilyn Monroe was in the movie for a total 5 minutes but she was very good, she was younger and healthier looking.

The Miracle Worker- Anne Bancroft was incredible, i've seen her in other movies but this she just blew me away. i've seen the movie before but it was for school so i didn't like it that much but it helps now that i know who Anne Bancroft is.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum- funny but not one of the best musicals i have seen. it reminded me more of a silent slap-stick kind of movie than a musical.

The Aviator- Leonardo DiCaprio is gold in this movie. Cate Blanchette was awesome as Katharine Hepburn as well as Kate Beckinsale as Ava Gardner. the visual effects were stunning.

I rented Black Hawk Down earlier today, going to watch it either tonight or tomorrow. :) Looking forward to seeing a 28-year-old Carmine Giovinazzo!

Lol, but besides that it's supposed to be a good movie. I will edit my post with my two cents after I watch it. ;)

Wow, I own Black Hawk Down and I never realized Carmine was in it! Haven't watched it in ages, though. Awesome film.

OK, so I just saw the most recent Harry Potter film and while I definitely liked it better than the last one, it still wasn't stellar.

This one seemed to have lighter moments more frequently than the last couple. People have been saying they're getting darker and darker (what do you expect? the big bad is coming!) but this one maybe slightly less so. I don't know why I haven't enjoyed the last few as much as the first three; I think it would be nice to see Chris Columbus come back and work with the heavier material, but obviously that's not going to happen. Oh well, a girl can dream. This one seemed to be edited better than the last one, but it still seemed a bit bumbling by times. Overall though, I didn't mind it. Maybe like a 6 or 6.5 out of 10.

And speaking of Chris Columbus, they showed a cool teaser for his movie coming out next year about the kid who finds out his father is the Greek God Poseidon- looks wicked! :)

How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying- this was ok not a big fan. it was cool to see the bright colors and the 60s style i'm so used to the earlier musicals from the 30s and 40s. this was another movie in the MGM musicals pack i got this past Christmas. so far the studios older musicals from the 40s have been the best. the pack also has West Side Story but that is amazing haha.

The Hangover

I loved it sooo much, I was expecting something totally different, but it was awesome. I thought that they would show what happened that night like remembering. I was laughing sooo hard at the end when they showed those pictures!
Alan's navel piercing was awesome! So was the one with the dentist guy is laughing with his whole mouth covered in blood. It was priceless.
It was 100% worth watching.

WILD HOGS crazy movie, and at times hilarious. with John Travolta, he's great, a lost soul, William Macy, a computer geek, and doesn't know what the hell is up. Tim Allen, a dentist, and uptight, and Martin Lawrence the token black friend, is a riot:lol: and pussy whipped by his wife. They all decide to go on a road trip, and think their the real deal on 'bikers' when their so not. Everything that can go wrong..does..a gay cop who pursues them. The biker bar they frequent with Ray Liotta as the nasty real biker, is great all tattooed up.. causes them much grief and well, I can't give it all away. Marisi Tomei, also great and a brief appearance by Peter Fonda from 'Easy Rider" is Liotta's dad funny banter between them It's worth a look:bolian:

Sunset i am in love with your avart! Bellatrix is tied for first as my fave Harry Potter character along with Ginny and Luna. i got an awesome shirt for the midnight show it's a wanted poster for Bellatrix i love it.

anyway... i watched....

Band Wagon- one of my fave musicals. Cyd Charisse and Fred Astaire were wonderful dancing and acting together. Cyd Charisse was beautiful and so graceful. best scene/dance in the movie was Girl Hunt.

Rope- one of my fave Hitchcock films i have seen so far. the movie was filmed in what is called real time where there are no cuts in the film it just all flows into each other. the story was excellent and very twisted. i enjoyed seeing Farley Granger in another Hitchcock movie... he was in Strangers on a Train which is excellent as well (CSI fans remember the 3rd season ep called "A Night At The Movies"? that is where the A storyline comes from Grissom even mentions the movie in the ep)

For Me and My Gal- love and adored every minute of the movie. this was Gene Kelly's first movie and he was fabulous even though he said he didn't like the way he acted in it. Judy Garland was ace she as brilliant and so adorable.

Twilight, well, I saw the first 30 minutes at school and thought what a bad film. Yet I wanted to know how it ended, and so I watched it again at home. I was prepared for two hours of mocking the film so "liking" it came as a bit of a surprise. It's definitely not the best film out there but it was worth watching it. I might even read the book.
It's pretty boring plotwise, the dialogues are a joke but visually it's very beautiful.
Hm, no idea why I didn't hate it :wtf:?

The Women, (the new one) oh boy, I don't even know where to start! Great actresses all of them but what did they do to them in that film? They all looked weird! The make-up didn't fit at all, they looked like they all had a bad facelift. The acting was so bad I was wondering if it was intentional?
The plot, well, it was ... I don't even know. I kept thinking where's and what's the message. If the wrong person sees the film they might think all women are hysterical screeching creatures. So bad! So terribly bad!

Indiscreet: Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman in their second film together. it was good i enjoyed seeing them together again. it was weird how the movie mirrored their lives at the time: IB's character falls in love with CG's character who is married.

Intermezzo: A Love Story- Ingrid Bergman's first movie in America. it was very good, typical kind of love story and one Ingrid Bergman would play over and over again in her long career. i think i enjoyed it more b/c it wasn't long it was only an hour and 15 minutes haha.

The Paradine Case: not one of Hitchcock's best but it was a good story. Gregory Peck was very good and sounded really hot with a British acccent lol.

Casablanca: watching the movie again, i'm reading a book about the making of it. who doesn't love this movie though? i enjoy it and learn more about it every time i see the movie.
