"Redrum" Discussion **Spoilers**

Nick seems to be heading for a meltdown. Do you all remember when Greg got beat up Nick told Warrick that he's sick of all it (meaning dealing with low-life's). Add his anger in this episode to that previous one, and start counting the days until he blows his stack.

Too true, but still I think Nick isn't the type to have an outburst of fury in front of the team … hm, well, why doesn't he take some days/weeks off, take his vacation, and vistis his family in Texas and then comes back as an satisfied, not-too-short-haired Nick again? :p

Thinking more about Sara's comment to Catherine about saying things in private, and I got a major flashback to Nesting Dolls? Here Sara is saying that she's learned her lesson the first time and if she's going to bitch at Catherine this time around, it's going to be behind closed doors.
LMAO that's what I think. I think Sara had learned her lesson from what happened in Nesting Dolls and knew better than blowing Cath in the face in front of the whole lab. But considering how she's grown up through the last few seasons, I really don't think she's going to bitch at Catherine. I'd rather think they'll have a drink together and Sara will tell Catherine about her take on the whole matter in a nice, calm behavior.

I just rewatched the episode, and having seen it, again... Wow. That was a mess. What a royal mess of a script. I was incredibly confused on what case was which, constantly stopping to remind myself and my fiance. The transitions were confusing, going from Sofia looking for identification to Catherine and Keppler looking at crime scene photos. Took me a few moments to understand what was going on half the time.

I always record the eps for my dad, and he... Well.... he hated it. I've never heard him say the things he said about this episode, before. His words were, "Convoluted, confusing." That pretty much sums it up. He couldn't follow it, and I kept trying to explain, and it was just too much.

I think the problem is that the best part of the episode started around 45 minutes in... That's when the mutiny started to brew. All the lead-up took forever, and by the time you got to the mutiny, you were having to pause every ten seconds to try to figure out which case was which. The bike processing was unnecessary. The multiple cases were confusing because they all ran together. It was just hard to follow... I didn't realize it the first time around because I was spoiled... but if I had gone into that episode without any indication of what was about to happen, I would have come out of it totally baffled and confused, like my father.

I think it was an interesting concept. I was so looking forward to it... But it took forever to get to the good part. I still maintain that letting 4 more people in on this little stunt would not have been the end of the world. That's been my argument since the beginning. The secrecy and lying to the team was done to add to the drama. This script is all about creating drama for the sake of drama; shaking up the team because they've gotten too comfortable. It's something we've seen before, and it sorta tears at me. I hate drama for drama's sake. Yes, there will hopefully be some followup with Nick... but this episode... The only reason I want to rewatch it is for the last 15 minutes, and the gift scene. That's about it.

I still maintain that bringing the four of them into the fold would not have killed the case. I would really have loved to see this episode open up with the SECOND FAKED case, and have us figure it out along with the team, if you're going to go the "us against them" route. Otherwise, the whole team should have been able to work together on this.

I wish Catherine had told everyone. I've heard the arguments why not, but I wish she had. I wish she had trusted her team, and I think Nick's words in the break room really summed up his problem with this.. it was a breach of trust. Regardless of it was an means to reach an end, it violated the trust between the members of the team. It made them question and second-guess one another, and that makes things rougher.

Glad to see Sara and Cath are going to talk privately about what all went down. And, also glad to see Nick's not letting it go so quickly. It makes sense for his character, after all he's been through...

Overall, it's just so hard to freakin' follow... and I think the concept was good, it just wasn't put together well. Drama for Drama's sake always pisses me off, though.

Couldn't agree more.

On the plus side, though, at least we got to see more of the actual team and not so much of the techs (save Hodges, but that's okay because he's my hero). Don't get me wrong, I love the techs, but if it comes down to watching Warrick and Sara figure something out or Bobby D or Henry just giving reports, then I'd definitely take the team over techs.

I am very unspoiled, and I followed the show just fine...
the only thing that confused me is when Keppler was talking to Hodges and he said something like it was weird that Grissom was gone while Keppler was there, and Keppler said something like maybe he planned it?.... sorry, that might be way off, but I didn't really understand... does that mean Keppler IS IA?

Ummmm...I understand it to be Keppler just trying to throw a wrench in the system, so that nobody really knows what's going on. That's just what I think, though. I could be totally wrong.

It seems to me that everything seems to be a little out of whack without Grissom there. Maybe that's the point.

The mystery box on his desk seems to be a promise that he'll be back eventually. But right now things are weird. I don't think Catherine would have done something like that if Grissom was a round.

But why would he want to do that? does he just get amusement out of confusing them, or... whatever he's doing...

He was trying to throw them off track of figuring out their staged crime scene. Make them think it is an IA investigation and adding more fuel to their erroneous rumors.

Ah... that's true.... I forgot about that... I guess that KINDA makes sense now... but if Keppler has no problem with making the lab think he's with IA, then he must not plan on staying with the lab, right? I mean, after Grissom gets back...

Ahahaha, oh man...

Keppler, sweetheart. The man tries to be creepy, but I just can't hate him because in this episode he's fulfilled a wish I've nurtured since time immemorial (read: the moment I started watching CSI NY, but CSI is equally bad): he told a terrible joke and it bombed, complete with a stretch of awkward silence and a respectable WTF face from Warrick. No amused snerk, no quick cut to commercial... I am the happiest girl alive.

(Bitter? Me? About the standard issue bad puns and horrid one-liners? Nahh...)

His deadpan is so deadpan it's confusing. I love him.

Um. Wait. Rational thoughts...

Fair episode, I think, even if I'm still not too hot on Nick's reaction after all this. I think I can buy where it's coming from, but for some reason it doesn't seem to resonate with me. I think that's likely personal allegiances as much as anything else. I take some small satisfaction that, whatever damage the "reverse forensics" plan wrought, it worked.

And yeah, I think I like Keppler's particular brand of weird. The fussiness at breakfast, the bad jokes and the first-person murder synopses all amuse me far more than they likely should. It's a black, twisted Grissom quirky that could've had the potential to be interesting had they opted to keep him on.

And yes, Hodges was hilarious. Hitting "reprint" was perfect. I'm so proud of the guy. *love*

He's staying, but as presumed head of the Day Shift so I'd think it's unlikely he'd be regularly working with Graveyard in the future.

I didn't take Sara's "dig" as malicious. For lack of a better word, I would consider both Sara and Cath to be friends. Sara obviously doesn't like Keppler, therefore, anything she wants to say to Catherine she would like to do in private. Most friends who have a conflict with one another do talk in private, if necessary. That's not a dig, that's just courtesy.

I agree. Obviously, Sara was less than thrilled about the deception, and who can blame her? But Catherine was between a rock and a hard place. The Undersheriff said "This isn't your call" - so what, then - Cath has the choice of doing what she did and pissing her team off, or telling the U/S to stuff it and ending up without a job, likely with her career in the trash, and a child to support. I mean, she could have done the noble thing and told her guys, whom she knew would find out anyway...and they could all take up a collection for her on payday to help her make her house note while she's on unemployment. See? Koom-bye-yah! But as for Sara, am I the only one that felt like she was giving Keppler the stinkeye after she said what she said to Catherine?

Sorry, I'm in a really cynical mood...

Loved that some of the techs got a little personality time as well as face time. Six seasons after we're introduced to him, we learn Bobby Dawson is a control freak. I find that somewhat endearing, but what about Bobby don't I find endearing? :D Hodges. "Reprint". Had to love that. And poor Henry...he knew something was up...

Kudos to Warrick for trying to get Nick to buck up, but I think it's gonna take a LOT more than a "let it go". I just feel like a major snap is on the way. And hopefully Warrick will realize it in time.

Uneven pace at times, but a decent ep overall.

I wasn't as disappointed with it as I thought I would be. I pretty much liked it. Glad to see Greg again. I like the Keppler character, though I don't like what he's doing there, but the guy is a good actor.

Haha, I felt like jumping into the tv and rubbing it in all of their faces when their little "plan" didn't work out, and they ended up needing the whole team to catch the bad guy. Hahaha, how cliche but then again, that makes everyone happy I guess because people who were on the team's side were happy, and Cath's people were slightly haapier because it ended up that she didn't fall on her face because the others were there to catch her and the crazy little plan they all had bombed.

Hahaha.

Anyways, I'm fine with Nick's reactions. I'm fine with everyone's reactions, but I'm glad that it didn't all just go away. It's nice to have some differences and whoever said that Nick is on his way to a breakdown, I agree with you. He's a donkey on the edge..

ANd I just loved Greg. Cutie poo. His feeble little nod to join the rest of the rebel team. Hahaha, and then at the end, he said exactly what everyone was thinking: "You thought we wouldn't figure it out, it's kind of what we do." Although.. they didn't show him actually finding or doing anything to discover whats going on, we'll just say that he did..

Hahah that's so funny.

I liked it I suppose. Hope they can keep it up.
