Well, in the case of the last two weeks, they have had football against them.

lol. My mom turned to me the other day (and she rarely watches CSI, or is all that knowledgable about the names, even) and goes, "So... do you think Sara is going to die?"

I'm worried about the ratings, because I think CSI needs kudos for Season 7, and often if a chunk of the fanbase has left, it doesn't typically just show up again, even if the episodes get better and better (see: Lost, Desperate Housewives).

Oh - to any Canadian viewers, CTV will be airing Season 8 at 8:00 on Thursdays now. So we can get it an hour early! Yay! And with far less competition - no Office, and no GA on ABC.

I'm actually more interested to see the Canadian ratings after that move.

    9:30 p.m.

    CSI R (CBS)
    Viewers: 7.73 million (#1), A18-49: 2.1/ 6 (#1)
    Grey's Anatomy R (ABC)
    Viewers: 4.24 million (#3), A18-49: 1.6/ 4 (#4)

    10:00 p.m.

    CSI R (CBS)
    Viewers: 9.28 million (#1), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#1)
    Gery's Anatomy R (ABC)
    Viewers: 4.15 million (#2), A18-49: 1.4/ 4 (#2)

And, for a quick chuckle, here's the ratings for the Presidential address:

    9:00 p.m.

    Presidential Speech (CBS)
    Viewers: 6.93 million (#1), A18-49: 1.8/ 5 (#1)

    Presidential Address (Fox)
    Viewers: 4.52 million (#3), A18-49: 1.5/ 4 (#3t)

    Presidential Address (NBC)
    Viewers: 4.33 million (#4), A18-49: 1.6/ 5 (#2)

    Presidential Address (ABC)
    Viewers: 4.99 million (#2), A18-49: 1.5/ 4 (#3t)

heh. Poor George can't keep an audience. What I like, though? When it was on ABC, and people tuned out afterwards when GA came on.

    1) Happenstance - 13.792 million viewers
    2) Living Legend - 12.091 million viewers - 12.3% drop
    3) Law of Gravity - 10.038 million viewers - 17% drop

    5) Built to Kill Part 2 - 9.305 million viewers - 3.4% drop
    6) Leaving Las Vegas - 9.58 million viewers - 2.9% gain

Since the premiere is getting pretty close, I thought I'd do a poll on around what people think that the premiere will get in terms of ratings. (=(x) million viewers)

I'm not feeling terribly optimistic. I'd like to think that Season 7 will speak for itself and people will return, but I put 18 million, because I'm just sure that GA will pull something out of its ass that will make people have to watch OMGZ.

i voted 25 mil. i feel pretty optimistic actually, and i believe that the premiere is going to have an LLV effect on people. especially with all the promos, articles, GSR, and a possible CD. i mean, this storyline has became slightly GA-fans friendly. you know all the romance, emotions that will happen for the first and probably the last time in this 8-season long show could bring a lot more different viewers than usually. the premiere has a potential to be not only a crime show it's always been, but also bring the characters personally into it more than ever before. and people LOVE this kind of drama.

True. And with the level of animosity towards Grey's right now, I can't see them totally blowing CSI out of the water like they did last time, but I do think that they'll win the premiere match-up, and then slowly CSI will wind up overtaking them as it becomes clear that the show is officially over-hyped and over-saturated and the people behind it are unwilling to change.

Presidential Address took its toll, but they did wind up climbing nearly a million viewers in the final ratings. CSI came in 8th place behind the Emmys, 60 minutes, 2 football events, Without a Trace, Two and a Half Men and CSI:NY.

    2) Living Legend - 12.091 million viewers - 12.3% drop

ETA - Made a mistake with the chart. CSI didn't gain 1 million from the fast nationals, it's actually down by a small fraction.

I have been reading these boards for quite a while now, and I have to know where you are reading that people are so dissatisfied with GA, because I can't seem to find it. I could easily say many people are dissatisfied with CSI:LV. Please inform me as to where the animosity towards GA can be found? If GA beats CSI in ratings, I couldn't care. I'm a CSI fan. I'm not going to bash GA just because their ratings are a little higher.

On Grey's fanboards, not here. Also critics. So much so that the creator of the show has decided not to do several storylines after angry fan outcries and has promised that this next year will be better.

I'm a former fan of GA, so I still go on the boards now and then.

    ETA

Also, if you take a look at the thread title, it says CSI vs... - it used to say vs. Grey's Anatomy, but with the Part 2 it wouldn't all fit. Either way, this thread was originally set up to highlight the ratings battle between the two shows. If you go and look at the previous thread, you'll see a good deal of the discussion and the ratings results were focused around that.

ABC aired a special about both Grey's and Private Practice with "sneak peeks" of the new season of both shows. Their numbers were still lower than CSI's lowest repeat rating this summer:

    Thanks to Marc Berman:

ABC special Rain or Shine: From Grey’s Anatomy to Private Practice (Viewers: #3, 7.02 million; A18-49: #3, 2.5/ 7).
