Re: Petersen Leaving! Who Gets Grissoms Position?

I don't think we're going to get a big story when someone is signed. All it will do is give us the same information they already did. CBS will have to hand out a substantial amount of new information and that's not what they do.
ITA. They tend to sit back and watch the reaction, then go ahead with their plan. I'm still not down with LF because there are better fits with this cast, but I will reserve judgement (begrudgingly).

I really wish they hadn't killed off Keppler, but I still think Billy threw this out there with a wink: “He does a play, I do CSI. I do a play, he does CSI. It would've been like a professional relationship between two scientists that go off on field trips and sabbaticals and then come back. But I don't know that the network would have wanted that.” In my dreams.

And if I hear Carol Mendolsohn say "bringing in fresh new characters keeps it interesting" or "it's all about the science" one more time I will set my hair on fire.

Re: Petersen Leaving! Who Gets Grissoms Position?

Okay, now we can begin the lovefest or the wringing of hands. Personally, as anyone who's read my previous posts knows, I would have preferred a seasoned character actor from tv, but we live with what we're dealt. The producers say they're looking forward to collaborating with LF. Now, are the producers and LF looking forward to collaborating with the rest of the ensemble cast? Or is the plan to make the show CSI Larry Fishburne, in an attempt to keep viewers away from Grey's or whatever else ABC, NBC and Fox throw up there against them in the time slot? As much as I would have preferred this to go another direction, I'm aware that TPTB are more concerned about pleasing investors than pleasing the audience. As unfair as it may seem, that's the business world.

Re: Petersen Leaving! Who Gets Grissoms Position?

I feel the move is a mistake. If they're doing this to please investors what do they do if they don't beat Grey's in the ratings? There is an existing cast here. What do they do if they've given him a top dollar contract and he doesn't mesh with the existing cast? They're only supposed to start back up at filming sometime this month so they haven't been around eachother (much or at all) to see how well they may or may not work together.

Okay, I'm nervous because I really, really don't want to see anyone overshadowing our current guys.

Well IMHO the show has been CSI: William Petersen for the last 8 years, so if LF is replacing him it just might be considered CSI: Larry Fishbourne. As much as I don't like the fact that they picked an A list actor over a little known tv actor, I'm beginning to see the chemistry that is happening here. Although he hasn't met the actors yet, he seems like an actor that can mesh well with anyone.

And you never know if they were trying to please us or investors. There is obviously a large amount of viewers who don't go on message boards and don't read spoilers. So when they see the ads saying LF is coming to CSI, they might just like it. I mean, don't get me wrong, we don't deserve to give TPTB any of our trust on account of how often the mix stuff up, change information that has already been previously released, and yada, yada, yada. But, I think it's possible they might have made a good decision this time around. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Re: Petersen Leaving! Who Gets Grissoms Position?

Kimbo08, when I said "pleasing the investors" what I was referring to was doing whatever makes a profit; popularity with us or the individual investors wasn't what I had in mind. I should have been more clear.
Agree with you in part. The show did start out as an ensemble but then, a few seasons in, became Grissom-centered. I sure don't want any one character to overshadow the rest of the cast again.

OH! Okay I got ya. That makes sense. And yes I most definately don't want anyone overshadowing the rest of the cast especially a new comer. Sorry if my previous post came off a bit pushy:)

See, this is where the Miami crew is smarter than the Vegas one. When they get a new character, they try the character out (to see how they mesh with the rest of the cast and with the audience) before giving them full cast credits. But, Vegas just dives in head first and doesn't look both ways before crossing the street (so to speak).

If this new guy is supposed to start out as a CSI 1, how the heck is gonna be bumped up to supervisor? That's insane! Cath is co-supervisor, Nicky is probably Level 3 by now and Greg should be bumped up to Level 2 pretty soon. So, how is someone who starts out in a lower position than the others going to end up becoming the boss? That's just idiotic! Maybe they changed their minds on that. Maybe he won't end up the boss. Maybe they're going to give that to Cath after all?

And I still want to know if it was true about that Chris Owens guy joining the cast as Warrick's replacement or if that was just a misunderstanding and he's only gonna be on a few eps?

You know that is a really good point. Vegas does seem to do things first and ask questions later you know? I just hope they don't count their chickens before they hatch:shifty:

Re: Petersen Leaving! Who Gets Grissoms Position?

Since LF is going to be a CSI 1 there's no way in hell that he will be supervisor. There's no logical explanation that could justify such a move! So my guess is that Cath's going to be supervisor, second in command will be Nick, followed by new-girl, Greg and LF.
That could actually be interesting. I mean LF is on a lower level than Greg! Ha, can't really imagine that ... but we'll see.

Actually Nick became a CSI Level 3 in the pilot episode. But I agree it's time for Greg to move up to Level 2. Now tptb said this new character would not become the head of the team right away and who knows, that may not happen this season.

No matter how you look at it, Catherine should become the supervisor with Nick being her equal or second in command, you know, lead CSI. That's really only fair, but then again, it seems tptb only care about what they want (and what GSR fans want) and don't care what the rest of us want.

Now as for those investors, it seems to me the only investors they tptb should be worrying about are us viewers. Because we are the ones that make those tptb and investors money by watching the show. So wake up tptb, check the boards and make the rest of fans (non-GSR fans) happy for once!!! Throw us a *bone* every once in awhile.

Re: Petersen Leaving! Who Gets Grissoms Position?

Hopefully they did change their minds on making him their boss. Maybe they have been reading our posts and see that we all still think Catherine should be put in charge. I do not see how in any way if he is only a CSI Level 1 how he could jump Catherine, Nick or even Greg who have all been there far longer. And they better make Greg a Level 2 already...sheesh.
