Hodges and Wendy----Labrats Love!

Dude, I would pay to see that... can you imagine him explaining that stuff to Wendy? She wouldn't know whether to be impressed or freaked out!
I laugh each time I think about that scene in Season 9 when Hodges explains his theory about time lapses and parallel dimensions to Grissom. He seemed so convinced! Remember what Wendy said to him in Labrats, a scientist must not believe to anything but science. I don't agree, I think this aspect of Hodges is very cute and interesting! If sci.fi scenario hadn't beenexploited already, it would have been interesting to see an X Files tribute with the two of them as believer -sometimes sucker- Mulder and rational -sometimes dull- Scully. The other labrats could be the Lonegunmen. Pure Ninties vintage, 'though I think some younger viewers don't even remeber the show.

*snicker* I was a year old when that show started. I have seen some of the episodes (and both movies), though.

I dunno, I think in Lab Rats Wendy was mostly just pissed at him for the whole lie thing. Although I must admit that the lucky day thing was a bit... pathetic? But so totally Hodges that I don't even mind.

Thanks for reminding me I'm so old LOL!

I really felt for Hodges in that Labrats moment...It made me think he knows his life is a bit -just a bit- miserable...He was pathetic but I don't know, somehow it was the first time I saw him as a real person...
Anyway, Wally says he's sure Hodges has a lot of weird hobbies, I hope he's ready to share some with us..I read somewhere that Hodges is supposed to collect demons, Satan, Behelzebu and so on...I'd pay to the first time Wendy enters his apartment!

Now see that is where I see my Griss effect. I know you don´t like it when I talk of Grissoming him. But they allready laid out clues for him to have some weird hobbies. I dislike however when they make him to pathetic. He is a smart labrat and carring in his own odd way. And he reached out to people often. I rather have him be odd in a Grissomway and thereby get a bit more screentime as that is more CSI for me. Then Wendy going CSI and another smart but pretty face get more screen - time. I am not saying that Hodges should go all Griss and buy a strawhat...Eventhough I am sure he has one in honor of his old mentor....

But I do dislike when they make it too weird or too pathetic. The actor can do so much more and the character could do to much more IMO

Oh tell me about that, the female counterpart for Eric Szmanda, they will look great when modelling along Vegas streets...I really hope TPTB knows better and give proper storylines to characters...This is not Baywatch!

As for Hodges, sometimes I think that if he had been less of a suck up he would have been the only one to be able to get somehow close to Grissom, apart from Sara. They are more similar than Grissom would ever admit.

As a very shy person myself I can see Hodges' difficulty to find the “right distance” from the others, not too aloof not intruding and always trying not to get hurt.
Wally says he's been trying along the years to make Hodges at least try to relate to people...I think his work on the character is amazing in this sense as well, especially considering the limited screen time he has.

I was ready to post this to the thread when I saw what Carol Mendelssohn said about Wendy and Hodges! Now I REALLY don't know what to expect from this new season!

Just so I know we are speaking about:

Season ten will include an episode that centers around the Las Vegas Crime Lab’s technicians. Budget cuts, meanwhile, will force techs like Wendy Simms (Liz Vassey) and David Hodges (Wallace Langham) to spend more time in the field. Mendelsohn revealed that Hodges, who still holds a torch for Wendy, will have a “slight misstep and actually come bearing gifts for Catherine.”

I will be back later and add some more....

Yes, we're talking right about that!

I wonder why Hodges should suck up Cath...Maybe he realizes that Grissom is not gonna come back any soon but even so...he doesn't have that kind of veneration for her - he's not even in awe of her which makes their interactions quite funny- and doesn't want to make CSI, she's not his boss so...why?
And who knows what this "misstep" is about? Is it professional or about Wendy? The sentence sounds sibilline to me!

~Freeze-frame was weird.
~Liz is in credits! (Finally)
~So Hodges isn't sucking up to Catherine... he's apologizing. That's a new one. *laughs*
~Squee! Although I notice that some pieces from the promo aren't there, so we only see Hodges pushing Wendy out of the way. Not that I mind, but I'm kind of sad that the answer to our questions is: It just doesn't happen.
~Aw, no follow-up? Come on now.

I totally agree.

- I am super thrilled that Liz finally got into the credits, behind Wally...along with SuperDave.
- the episode compared to the promo? Yeah, it looked like there were a few seconds shaved when it aired tonight. A crying shame for I figured that we would have some sort of follow up like you said. It would have been interesting to see. But the main point was that he was still there to protect her.
- As soon as Hodges opened his mouth to dude at the front desk, I knew there was going to be trouble....and of course, there it was. But I am thrilled that he maned up to his mistake and apologized to Cath.
- I am also glad that this talk about his "misstep" was just what he did to apologize, and not over something more stupid and irrelevant. But a part of me still kinda wishes that it would have been Wendy related. What I dunno, but something.

over all though I thought the episode was decent. I enjoyed it.

Ok... it seems as if she only hinted at the premiere episode or what?

What suprised me was: that Hodges, who still holds a torch for Wendy

So Wendy doesn´t share his feelings? Is confused? loves him?

When they as show is descided on: him loving her and not knows if they want her .......it often ends with her loving him or getting set free in order for character so romance other character.

1. That would bug me extremly. Hodges might not be the most popular character on the show. But he is the qurk(?) that is CSI. And especially LV. As we debated some post ago. This is not Melrose Place and therefor the characters should be as divers(?) as possible. William P might be an attractive male but that was downplayed and he was odd. His odd interests in many oddly things mades this show different. It allowed them to go places that other shows didn´t. Compaired to "Law and Order" the topics might be the same. But because of Griss we got to see rotting pigs at the kadaverfarm. And it(show)be tapping into demografic 18 - 45(?) but in order to do that - Yes they have to the Nick and Gregs - but they also have to have something or someone that makes it appeal to people that see the world as more then just pretty go pretty:lol:.
I hope this at some level makes sense:guffaw:.

2. Odd boy falling in love with pretty girl is a difficult storyline. Seen a million tiimes before. So one should be careful when starting this on a show. I wish Wendy would display some oddness in order to make that character more ???. And make Hodges more grissomic - more respected . That way their love would be buildt on more then his fantasies and an Spaceepisode. From Space Odd. I actually thought there was hope. She invited him over- just the 2 of them . BUT on a reflecting note show can downplay that aspect .....it was just a friend-thing on her part.

So would TPTB have set all the Wedges thing up only to come to the conclusion that a normally (but pretty pleasantly to my kinky taste) looking man can't pair up with a brunette life-size doll? Could easily be ...If it's so I'm ready to quit... Maybe it's put this way, or maybe Hodges' feelings are more exposed by the writers also because his viewpoint is still considered more important than Wendy's....It must be said also that I don't think Mendelsson is the main mind behind the Wedges or the main supporter of the pair so maybe she has a more superficial view of the relationship....Shankar is our Wedges agent in TPTB and he always talks about "affair, romance" which would suppose two people inolved...
I also wondered why show a certain aspect of Hodges, the more human, right in the first ep...It was quite out of the context unless it suggested a development of the character....
Anyway, if the whole H/W eventually turns out to be the modern version of Notre Dame Hunchback, I'd better learn the lesson this time, NEVER get affectionate with a fictional character, let alone two!
I'm sorry, I've got the news that one of my most beloved characters in crime dramas is exiting the show, and I'm still bitter about that..
And it's odd that Law&Order came to topic just today because Robert Goren would have been in good company in Las Vegas.

Anyway, if they don't want to pair Hodges up with Wendy I'm willing to make the sacrifice...I took a glimpse of the premiere and Wally in country shirt and blue jeans looks good enough to me

Super reference......Absolutly best reference for worst case senario. Had forgotten how much I hated that ending. Yes...she (Esmaralda) should be with the guy she loved. So be it. But the pain and suffering of the Notre Dame Hunchback it broke my heart.

"Bad Riddick" :) for bringing that up. Just broke my heart again when thinking of it.

And "Bad Riddick" :)with a brunette life-size doll:)guffaw::guffaw:BTW)

But again great observation. IF they go the Hunchback - way it would be an terrible one-dimentional use of Wendy character. "The common way". If they went our way the character could innovating and surprising. TRUE LV STYLE.

What ever happened to her being CSI?
In reallife time ship we base it on values, attractions and hobbies. Besides Space Odd...what thing could you see them sharing not from fanpoint of view but from episodes? Feel free to list.

What ever happened to her being CSI?
In a recent interview with Liz, I believe it was the one I mentioned about being posted over in the actresses thread, she mentioned how her and Wally had gone to Vegas to do a ride along with a local forensic team and visit the lab there. Now I don't know if that is hints of the development toward hers or both character becoming CSI's, but it usually happens when there is character development. It was mentioned in another Q@A with CM, I think, or NS, that in this upcoming season both lab techs are suppose to see more time out in the field due to the supposed "shortage of staff" within the crime lab. I just don't know if this will happen while Sara is there, or once Jorja completes her 5 episode guest appearance...or if they'll even follow through with the idea.

what thing could you see them sharing not from fanpoint of view but from episodes?
I personally don't think there is enough background exposed on either character to be able to compile a proper list. Putting the episode aside, at this moment we know more about Hodges (and that is still not a whole lot), then Wendy. But I will say this..

- I think their curiosity and intellect, their wanting to know and competitive nature, is something they share. Might not sound like much, but it's something to start with.

Look at it this way, opposites often times attract. I think they'd be more intrigued with the other the less they had in common. But that's just me.

But see - that´s where I like them to "have" something. Making them opposites IMO will make it to easy to break them up or not get together at all. Being intrigued is a part of being in love but in tvland being intrigued can leave one to longe for the other like a little puppy. If it then ends in coupling. Then there is WAY to much dramalines popping up. And when ever needed the characters can break-up in an instanse.

If he fill a void for her that noone else could - there would be cause for them to stay together forever. Which is sort of the thing I like to see happen. As LV murdermysteries often have root in the unthinkable being the believe-able. You know - Oh he did it and b/c of .....- So the H/W should be unthinkable up to now and then make believeable. Or they could soon enough break them up and tied her to another character. Where the connection seems more believeable to begin with.

As you know Hodges is my fav. of the two. I would not like a post- Wendy Hodges. I want him to be the object of desire here. As the reverse has be the norm in most TVlandstorylines. People brougth into the Griss - Sara thing or the Heather- Griss. Eventhough we are talking of a guy that liked bugs and xxxx so much he was odd.

So I want:) her to hunt him and not him piening after her.
Looking at all the CSI show romances, is there a more unlikely duo than Adam and Stella? Adam has had a crush on Stella for ages, but did anyone ever think she would reciprocate those feelings–or that the crush would be consummated? I certainly didn’t, and that alone makes the pairing more interesting than any other (okay, maybe save Wendy and Hodges over on CSI) thus far. Danny and Lindsay were pretty much scripted to be together from the get-go; in the years since Lindsay has been on the show, she’s really never been anything other than Danny’s love interest. On CSI, Grissom and Sara danced around each other for so long that by the time they got together, it felt more like a natural progression than a shocking one. Miami’s Calleigh and Delko believably transitioned from being best friends to lovers, and though it took a while, once again, it felt like the two characters were going down a path that made sense. Kristine Huntley Review of NY
This is indeed "our day"

-"That said, Danny/Lidsey clearly works for many people. D and L knew each other for all of three minutes before the writers started setting them up, and it's gone this long. Wendy/Hodges from CSI is another odd pairing, who hadn't known each other for years on end before they started flirting, and it still clearly works." A fan in a tread about another ship.

Times are changing. Geek love is on the way.
