Just 3 more days to go!! Yay!!
Just to get back on-topic following that great excitement, I want to go back to 'Slaughterhouse'. Remember when Calleigh and Eric were getting ready to go into the house, and Horatio told them to steel themselves? He appeared to be addressing Calleigh directly, as seen in this pic:

And she said, 'Okay' to him. Note the look they shared, while Eric seemed okay to continue to get ready. Aww, ain't they sweet?
To the normal outsider, it looks like a leader bracing his team for a brutal scene, but if you probe deeper, you can see a man showing his concern for a woman who may have never seen a scene of this violence before. While he spoke generally, he was really specifically addressing Calleigh, who replied to him as well.
Just moments after Calleigh entered the house, we see Horatio in the background, watching her as she sees the scene for the first time. Even after the words they had exchanged outside, he felt the need to be right behind her in case it got upsetting for her. He was there for her at every step of the way, supporting her. He was never far from her when they were processing, making sure she was okay in a quiet, guardian-like manner.
What I liked most about their interaction was that Horatio didn't mollycoddle Calleigh or try to shelter her from the violence. He trusted in her professionalism as a CSI and as a woman, but still felt the need to make sure she was alright, his protective side coming out, as well as his caring for her.
Calleigh's character is that of an independant and strong woman, as we've seen develop over the course of the show, but this was very early in Season 1 as you recall, so this homicide may have been a first for her. I believe that if the writers had developed Calleigh's character differently, i.e with her being upset by the crime scene, I think it would have made for some good comforting scenes between her and Horatio, like those really quiet scenes between a mentor and his protégé, whose relationship was surely blossoming.
And by the looks of things, it still is.
We are so ENDGAME!!
Hope you all have a great Easter! I wanted to say that to y'all anyway, but when I saw that pic I flipped!!
And I decided to post some thoughts as well about that great eppie. '3 lines of good posting'... freaking out over some new DuCaine scenes should count too!!  :guffaw: :guffaw:
